i was there!!! drove 9 hrs to see him after failed attempts in bentonville & huntsville (so glad he recovered from his ear infection quickly). found out about this a bit late so was not able to purchase seats, but even from afar i felt his passion, energy, and pure love of music. he was so immersed in rach3, rach3 was immersed in him, i was immersed in the whole ambience and still floating in the magic of that dreamy night. im so glad i finlally had the opportunity to witness yunchan + maestro alsop + rach3 = the van cliburn final that ive watched so many times on youtube in person. thank you for this upload. can't wait to see him again in dfw in 3 weeks!
Of course I have always held Marin Alsop in high esteme, but her work with this extraordinary pianist has truly been heart warming and inspirational. Her support of him, is part of the story. I am so excited to see how he evolves and their collaboration matires.

0:47 That sort of a momentary "pause" or "switch" was the first time I heard it played that way. The pause or switch is actually at 0:47, but you have start listening for it at around 0:45 to notice it. (Sorry...I am not a musician)
I've heard several pianists play it that way including Cho Seong-Jin. Yunchan plays it that way when he played it with the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra right before the Cliburn. Amazing how much he experiments/improvises each time he performs. ua-cam.com/video/QEoDyuUZ06Y/v-deo.html
I love that performance, too - a pivotal moment in his exposure to the public. Now it seems as though Yunchan is being trotted out to perform this concerto over and over. I hope he still loves playing it.
