Going back for at least a decade now, I can't bring myself to watch any of the network news broadcasts because of how bad they are. Personalities and packaging over facts and substance. newspapers are my source now. Watching old broadcasts like this are both wonderful for what we once had and sad when I realize what we now have.

Not a scapegoat. it's called a FACT. Go watch coverage of election night on any of the so called "major" networks. they were clearly in the tank for the Democrat party. Which election night you ask ? Try 1980 when Reagan won. Try Brokaw on NBC. These were clearly leftist propagandists who brought an entire generation up hating Ronald Reagan because Reagan was going to kill us all and start multiple wars and what have you, according to the leftists.... Meanwhile we're all still here. ABC, NBC, CBS and now their cable counterparts are nothing more than Domestic terrorists. They have made the same outlandish accusations against every Republican Presidential candidate in my lifetime. "Progressives" as they like to call themselves, are the worlds biggest enemies. In ANY Nation. Divide and conquer.

Cannot forget that day, especially as I was at AIIMS as a medical student. Her car tried to enter the AIIMS casualty from the VIP entrance which was locked as the hospital had no prior info. Seeing the gates locked her security guards nervously fired at the gate locks causing pandemonium. The rest is common knowledge
I will never forget the frightened look on the face of the Sikhs who just happened to be on the streets. I spent the next few days with my VHF radio that could monitor the Delhi police who were clearly overwhelmed. In the thousands of back and forth transmissions not one seemed to show that the police were complicit in the Sikh massacre that was to follow.

I never realized I was such a bad omen or harbinger of bad times to follow probably when I will die too. I will be honest many unusual things have happened to me my entire life. I hope some day after death as well I could some insight into why such things happened with me?? Was I born as a mentally deranged entity? I looked and behaved pretty normal. Had reddish hair which was loved by people around me. Then I got black hair, thick black which was loved by my mumm, then got dry hair which was loved by me. Yes I have invited far more humorous attention from people due to my dry broom style hair than I did with anything else. I felt safe with those dry hair.

@amar gwari Not too similar. they are meant for different purpose. Rifle is a weapon that can be used at a significant range. A sub-machine gun is for use when the enemy is quite close only. The original use of a sub-machine gun was to clear trenches in WWI (Germans). Also the length of the weapons is quite different because of their difference in purposes and a rifle normally takes a bayonet while a sub-machine gun does not.

The most amazing thing about these old broadcasts is how dumbed-down the news of today appears when compared to them.
Turn on the nightly-news today and you never see any serious discussion of any issues with any kind of depth or real analysis: it's all surface-level fluff, or, in the case of politics, little-better than reality television.

I was working as an Intern at Safdarjang Hospital and Indira Gandhi was at the hospital across the road at AIIMS. We all knew she was dead but the official confirmation came in the evening. The next 3 or 4 days saw rioting by the Congress goons against the Sikh community. We saved many Sikh friends in our hostel and tended to many Sikh patients admitted with injuries. It was a sad day for India. It divided the Sikhs and Hindus, a breach that has not healed to this day.

Read the stress on "common men and women of India that drive economy more and make more movement" Also to me it looked as if people were far more encouraged to put a pole of India in NewYork stock exchange and influence stock markets for "common people". If anyone did research on what drives that pole posting in America by Indians, something interesting may come "out".
Indira Ji's assassination or any other may start to make more sense when seen from the that light. To help the common man and woman of India..

The whole thing happened because General Zia armed the separatists of Punjab. This was on the behest of USA. Pakistan, Afghanistan and India were in the crosshairs of USA and USSR. Indira Gandhi had a normalcy bias and got offed by her own body guards after mishandling golden temple situation. Pakistan got a return gift as General Zia and few of his associates were offed by RAW and KGB.
Pagal gulams of Congress party committed riots against Sikh community on a vast scale which is well known however what is not well knows is the vengeance that was unleashed on Congress party supporters later on.
Entire families of Congress party supporters particularly Hindus were wiped out. Thousands were killed thanks to the arms supplied by General Zia's administration. It took the iron will of KPS gill to stop the violence. KPS Gill was not a favorite amongst human rights activists but he couldn't care less. He saved Punjab. Thankfully liberalization happened and people got jobs and became wealthy and less tribal. Unfortunately this normalcy might be short lived.
