Yes, she is an Indian citizen. No doubt about that. The only thing is we don't want her to be involved in our politics. Foreigners are free to marry Indian PMs and become Indian citizens, but they shouldn't try to poke their nose👃 in our politics. She faced a lot of challenges where there were her enemies like lala and others but she firmly stood against them and fought back after all the criticism she was successful.
Now, if you take Sonia Gandhi. She married a politician and after he left she continued politics for entire remaining life. She also has enemies like Modi, Amit Shah and all who don't have any respect for women and insulted her many times while giving speeches (in fact leave Sonia, they do not have any respect for any woman). But after all criticism, she fought back and won elections in 2004. Till today she is a fighter like mother India Nargis.

But there was a time in the past when, in my opinion, this party could have moved on from the family and could've been an ideology based party in true sense. But those congressis brought Sonia Gandhi, effectively choosing immediate revival over long term relevance.

I wonder why did so many strong figures like Sharad Pawar, Mamata Bannerjee, YR Jaganmohan Reddy etc quit congress when there was no ideological difference... As Dr. Manmohan Singh had full administrative powers in his ministry and he never gave Sonia Gandhi any cabinet position. She was the leader of the party but never a leader in the government & she only advised the government on policies, but never enforced or made them.

They supported him as a minister of the government since he was an ally and was skilled for the position. But why would they support him in a high position, when he opposed the parties main positions. If you want to support him instead of the INC for what ever reason, fine by me I don’t want to tell you which party is correct or not, I’m not a politician or campaign worker. But it’s less likely that the government would’ve choose him. It’s the same way how the Shiv Sena never gained the Maharashtra CM position & controlled the ministry many times during their alliance with the BJP.

That's the excuse she gave to the public, that her "inner voice" told her not to accept PM post. But had she really become PM, that would have been challenged in the court and probably she might have had to step down.
I don't have anything against her personally, she had married Rajiv Gandhi and she is an Indian citizen, no disputes. However I will never accept her as PM (so do crores of other citizens). When we have over a billion Indian born citizens why should we rally behind a woman of Italian origin? Can't we find someone more eligible among Indians?
