That's the way to go, Dana. We have one at work for lights, and it's on wheels to tow to the job site. This is perfect for a home generator, and it's not loud at all. Thanks for showing. Kenny
That is a very cool machine and it is great that you have the manuals. Our power is very reliable but we must setup our generator in a similar way to you
Interesting. These are the Aviation Generator conversions! So these were originally used to arm and load the cannon loader on the Harriers and Hornets on land based Marine Aviation units. Then they got some hand me downs from the US Navy and they converted these to be portable genis.
We have two both. Retired Navy units both 8 kw generato heads . We generally use the for area lighting at special events and have plans to convert the 4 1 kw metal halid light heads to led . By doing that we will end up useing approximately 1 kw for lighting and have anout 7 kw for other loads so I will also have to reconfigure the power distribution panel a little. For our purposes I feel it will be well worth the effort. Also we move ours light towers and all with a small mihindra tractor no problem.
would suggest adding some velcro the cable in the pack out, worst thing when its snowing/raining and need to go plug generator in and the plug falls into the mud/snow/dirt
Very nice! How many watts is the powerhead? Is it a low Rpm unit? Have you checked the Hz frequency under load? Wanted to suggest getting a rubber grommet where the cord goes through the packout box
Why is this generator (and other mil surplus) so big and insanely heavy with huge engine for a total output of just 6,000 watts? You can get a brand new tri-fuel with 240V @ 60Hz with 13,000 watts for under $1,200 bucks. Single cylinder, 3 different fuel options with easy to replace parts (if you'd ever need them). Granted the military ones are HUGE, and certainly use far more fuel. What makes these attractive...???
It would definitely be easy to add a external fuel tank. Check out my newest generator video where I go in to this question and others. Thanks and have a great one
This generator is made by Generac Mobile Products. They sell the parts for them. here is a link to the manual www.generacmobileproducts.com/GeneracMobile/media/library/Downloads/Light%20Towers/Standard/Generac-Mobile-Products_manual-operations-parts_Light-Tower-MLT5060-MLT5080.pdf

We were out for almost 2 weeks last Sep, due to storms

Thanks dude!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching 👍

That’s great thanks for sharing your story, glad to have you on the channel
That was a great purchase Dana, 500 hours is nothing 👍🏻. Have a great weekend 🙋🏼♂
Like brand new 🆕 👍🎉

Excellent idea check out my new generator video where I add Velcro to the cord

Thanks check out my newest generator video where I answered some of you questions. No Hz meter here great idea to check for clean power 👍
Just because its military doesn’t mean its built well it means its the CHEAPEST OPTION, reliable enough, easy to maintain and transport
True made by the lowest bidder does not ensure quality. But in this case it is a great unit. Thanks for watching and have a great one
What is the total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the generator?

Given how simple the fuel system is, you could probably fabricate an external tank from a 55gal drum.

Biggest question I have is if you need parts where do you get them?????

What make is the Diesel engine?
It’s a Mitsubishi
How much wattage does it make?
6000 watts thanks for watching 👍
You shouldn't use male connectors for generators.
Actually you should the interlock makes it safe thanks for watching
The male was on the cord as it should be
