This is and early beta version i believe the game has gone through many changes and revamps since during the testing phase lots of heroes were available so they could be tested in the more final version of the game i believe the heroes come in stages similar to rise of kingdoms you start with a small hero pool then more unlock over time and as your kingdom achieves certain milestones.

I think the direct competition is with state of surival and not rise of kingdom. Thengame is very similar with state of survival
