    World Champion Magnus Carlsen and 11 more of the world's best chess players are competing in the Chessable Masters by chess24, the 3rd event in the $1 million Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour, taking place from June 20 to July 5. The 12 players will first be reduced to 8 in a 4-day knockout stage split into two groups. The A Group features Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Daniil Dubov, Alexander Grischuk, Vladislav Artemiev and Harikrishna.
    The players play each other twice in rapid chess over 10 rounds, with the top 4 then advancing to the knockout stage. The time control is 15 minutes for all moves, with a 10-second increment from move 1. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. The tournament is sponsored by Chessable, the world's leading online chess training platform. Official website: chess24.com/tour

    • @magnafire1
      @magnafire1 4 роки тому +21

      That is too funny. How did Agad think his opponents bishop could stop check mate hahhaha. Sad I didn't catch this. We just tend to believe what he says all the time without examining if he is right since we assume he is using engines. Lol I mean he does use engines but it's when he adds his own 2 cents that are mistakes sometimes.

      Don't know about doomed with rapid, but yeah, that was an engine level move by Carlsen.
      So nothing new under the sun really. ;)

      honestly, I'm surprised this position hasn't been reached before with all the semi slav games around the Topalov-Kramnik era where it was the most popular opening at the highest level....c5 is a common idea in many lines, I guess this very specific one hadn't been reached before....

    Great video as always...thanks Agadmator! Tip: I know you have the PGN in the description. So I find myself copying it and pasting it on a chess site to look at the graphical analysis. Would be nice if there was a link in the description to the lichess or chess.com import game page with the game's PGN so we can quickly see the analysis of where one player went wrong and stuff and play around with alternate moves. Thanks again.

    I watched this live and wondered how Dubov missed the pinned Knight and subsequent forced moves. But I see now how he was getting strangled to the point of Zigzwang in the end. Thanks for showing the problems Daniil was struggling with here. He cames so close to qualifying too. Great job.
    Ps. Makes me feel better about a game I lost too with a pinned Knight recently. Could happen to anyone, especially when playing Magnus though here, lol. Thx again.

    @Agadmator, when you made that mistake on 5:25 you made me think of Tal's (ghost) knight, that was supposed to deliver checkmate, only to realize after minutes of calculation that it was his own knight. This time though, it's sort of reversed :))
    Not to mention, this really looks like a Tal game :)

    @Agadmator just a suggestion that when one player resigns with plenty of pieces on the board, please spend more time explaining why a position is hopeless - for us amateur chess players we would find that valuable. In this particular video, it was nice to understand the comparison between Q vs. R/K/B, but it would have been great to see a couple variations demonstrating the power of the 3 pieces versus the Q. Thanks
