- Using GaiaGPS, I was able to locate two forgotten homesites in the middle of a field. I spent the day searching for evidence of these homesites and my aimless wandering finally paid off.

Relic Recoverist ok. How much? I am in the market!. Time to upgrade👍
Im more interested in buying one of those hats, thanks.
I haven't seen you doing video's in a long time! I hope things are going ok for you and yours...
You are so very entertaining I have been binge watching you. Keep up the great work nice lady
The overlay feature is cool. I use the PhilaGeoHistory website when bottle hunting in the city. Has multiple overlays from the 1870s 1890s, 1900s, 1940s, plus topo maps.
Ok Relic Recoverest.....
Now that was some AWESOME video work. Thank for the map and G.P.S app. Will definitely be handy !!!
I Love that Dog! You could tell he has a Great personality!
Great old style video, plus bonus tips, well done, ;) ATB Michael
Thank you Jocelyn Awesome video .. 👍👍👍
Really cool Jocelyn thank you especially the map work and research
Thanks for sharing the apps info. Jocelyn. Great hunt and looking forward to the next one.
Jocelyn, nice job as usual. You seemed a little off your game in this video however the content was amazing and helpful. I loaded both apps. Now we need an app to stop the rain. I am about an hour from you and the same conditions make getting out detecting almost impossible while trying to catch up on yard work in between swamp effects from the rains over the last few months. Thanks for the tricks of the trade!!!
makometal I had a late night and I was dragging just a smidge. As soon as I start finding stuff, I get a burst of energy. 😊
And a great burst it is........keep up the great job since I would be lost without your informative videos. One question......I just got the 97x mark ii....what hand held tripod are you using. Looks black with pink feet??
Thanks for helping with the apps. Very cool hopefully y’all will find something awesome out there.
Great application! Awesome video and beautiful finds! Happy Hunting!
Jocelyn this was so helpful thank you so much for informing me about the app!
Nice to see you again
I'll have you know... DeLise and I are addicted to your videos :-)
Great vid, as usual, you make me smile.
Great video, very helpful for lots of reasons, not just detecting!
THANK YOU so much for sharing those apps!!
The ChiggMeister made an appearance 😆😎🍃🌹🍃
These are great tips!! Thank You, Jocelyn 👍 I think they would be good for mushroom hunting, too!!
Can't wait to use that app! Will definately help with the genealogical research I am doing on my family this summer & our former properties! And you are so rockin' that pink hair girlfriend! Looks great! Thanks for taking us along!
Walking Trails 777 😁 Thank-you. Good luck with your research. I’m so hooked on this app, it’s ridiculous.
Enjoy watching your videos keep it up.
Interesting. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip
Nice instructional! Hope that site is a great one. Now we wait, hahaha! :) GL&HH!
That will be an awesome tool for you, bet you will find some amazing locations
Thanks J. Great info!
Looking forward to the hunt now you have found the site, well done 😁😁😁
Mapworks or historicmapworks? is what I use at home, to do the overlay. It is awesome to be able to fade the old map over a satelite view, and see them both. But no map is perfect, so yea, you still have to walk around and scout. Makes me homesick to see the great weather you are experiencing. lol Have fun and keep doing what your doing
zettle 234 Yes! Historicmapworks are great for at home, but I like having an app that I can take with me. It’s so much easier to be able to orient your self with the GPS (well... when the maps line up.)
Have you sat down and talked with the farmer or landowner, and asked them if there are any rocky or hard pan areas in the field? The guy in the tractor can tell you if he has broken anything when he goes over a certain spot. Or if he can not disc as deep in this area or that. May be helpful. Anyway that's all I can think of to help ya from here. hehe Best of luck in your hunts Relic Recoverist, have fun out there
Thank you for the information on the apps.
Not done yet but already a quality video, as always. BTW love the shirt!
You have a new subscriber, love the video and thanks so much for the app recommendations, I live right on the edge of the Oxfordshire countryside and I'm going to have fun looking for any potential ruins! :)
It's funny how in the US a 200 year old place is old. I live in Finland, northern Europe, and this isn't a very old area when considering the whole of Europe. Some months ago I found my oldest coin by far, dating back to 1571. That is in the best 10% you can find in this area of Finland, but it is possible to find as old coins as 1200s.
I still enjoy watching these Americans hunt :)
Well, that's because no one seems to count our indigenous people (and their artifacts and settlements), who were living here for far longer than 200 years. More like 15,000 years.
I excluded all natives (or in Europas case all pre-metal cultures) since their artifacts are not usually found in on themselves while metal detecting. Sure, you might find them by accident, but not really look for them. Two-three years ago I attended a dig in Finland, at an 5500 year late stone age site. Mostly pottery, knappings and some fragments of tools...
It's a pretty common hobby here in the US to look for stone tools and arrow heads and other worked stone artifacts. Many metal detector users also look for worked stone objects. It's awesome to find something like a Clovis point or stone arrow tip. I think these ancient North American people (and other ancient cultures) get overlooked or put in an inferior category because they did not need or use metal objects. Fortunately they left enough structures and artifacts so that we know quite a bit about them.
I'm not familiar with this, so thank you! We here don't have so much stone items to be found lying on the ground, though in rivers when they are emptier during the summer, sometimes flakes of quartz can be found. Well, learnt something new
Good research, enjoying your vids
Great info on the app's. Thanks for sharing.
Thumbs up from Australia 😃
Try also Avenza PDF maps. This app is where you can purchase National Forest and BLM maps as well as download USGS quadrangle maps for free. Recently historical maps have been available. Once downloaded the map is on your device and your GPS position is plotted on the map. You do not need cell or data service to use the downloaded maps!!! Many maps are free and the app is also free. No property data is available however.
Looks like that might be a really good site can't wait to see your next video
Great education and share Jocelyn, thanks, and also thanks for the laugh and making me feel better about my measly 14,000 emails, sucks gleaning through that stuff.
scott lund Bahaaha. It was 50K... but Gmail wouldn’t let me receive any more emails. So I had to delete some. PS. There’s a Patreon version of this video that I’m uploading now. It’ll post in the morning at some point.
I love checking new Patreon extra's with that morning cup of coffee, see ya there and maybe I can find and link a 5 paragraph article from a Civil War Veteran describing the backwoods sneak route of a Confederate ambush unit he could see in the woods out the back window of a private residence next to the river where his unit docked and the skirmish that ensued. Your apps may put you right on the exact house along the river??
Muito legal o isqueiro, grande achado! Gostei muito do vídeo!
O cachorro é uma ótima companhia na caçada.
A lot of old settlements, etc, are often found by aerial photography when the ground is dry, which would obviously be unhelpful in these conditions. Also, there is usually difference in the growth of plants where there has been settlement, or old buildings. I am not sure if it is the same in the US as it is over her in Britain.
Great info as always...
Thanks for the app info! I’ve been doing the overlaying for a while but at home. Then trying to memorize where the site was...
James Mowery I was doing the exact same thing! Or saving screenshots of the maps to my phone and trying to orientate myself in the field.
Very informative!
Awesome video! Love your vids girl
Oh, what a tease you are lol! Looking forward to the next chapter!
Gun Slinger Teehee.
Very nice!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Well, it certainly was not a gold retriever, but did not find much silver either! Hmm... the lighter should at least have been color-coordinated with your current hair color, right? Looking forward to the next video/rest of this hunt! Thanks for the map tips!
Charles Wilder Right? Such a disappointment.
looks like a good site

You , my dear need to get gps if you are going to use the app! Geocaching need it, you make me smile.

Awesome find...’wooo “. Hoo....there’s a house under that hill they covered it up for some reason...
How long do you guys typically hit a site before you call it good or bad?
When you are walking the area, are you doing zigzags or lines or what other method?
My two oldest girls love your videos and I'd love to teach them your method next time I take them out!

Hydrate...hydrate...hydrate....
Scott Sluggos Rule! Yes!! I hadn’t planned to wander this far from my vehicle.
There should be a series of dots and dashes on either side of the word Zippo on the bottom but there's an app that'll tell you the yrs it was made don't know the app but ask your friend from 9 to five about it
Found the app. It's called Zippo codes
Shane Prothero - they also have a lifetime warranty! Send it in and get it fixed or a brand new one!
Yeah I know I was just letting her know there was a way to see when it was made
Will Zippo still repair or replace their lighters? They used to have a life time warranty.
AdamosDad Someone else said they would replace it. I don’t really have a need for a lighter, but I’ll see what they can do.
Thanks for replying. I no longer have a reason to carry one (quit smoking in 79') but I still do in case we need an emergency fire.
Where did you get your pink&black hat from...
*New/World/ Warrior* The sell them on Amazon. And while you’re on amazon, you should look up this awesome book called “How Not to be a Troll.” It’s a good read, I think you could really benefit from chapter three: “Keyborad Warriors with Nothing Better to Do.” And then maybe you should change your username to *New/World/Keyboard Warrior*. Just a thought. 😊
Relic Recoverist 😂
Uniontown ... thought you were in SW Pennsylvania
That's something all should do wear each other shirts ;) make the chigger wear a purple one says relic recoverist. Make a contest out of it
Zippo lighters have a lifetime guarantee on them so you might be able to send that one into the Zippo company and they will send you a new one you might want to check on that or just put it up in tell people about your find
I just realized giagps does NOT have the private land app for android users...is this right?
you look amazing
I use onxhunt and love it. But requesting a refund from GaiaGPS as the overlay maps do not exist for my area on Minnesota.
❤️❤️❤️

Joshlyn, don’t think those shoes will work for you
Send the Zippo lighter back and they will fix it for free
If you send that zippo to zippo they will repair or replace it - free.

I am not being critical, because I love your videos, but that machine must really be sensitive for you to be able to swing such big arcs. It looks like you are missing lots of territory!
By the way, have Drew do your nails for you..............
