I heard rural Missouri is very off grid living friendly, legally wise compared to other states...
I'm wondering if your property has hopefully a well. Or old city/county water lines.
A guy/UA-cam channel called "solar cabin" has some old good informational videos. Pretty much shows how to setup entire off grid cabin the cheapest easiest way.
One video he shows how to build a mini solar composting septic system. It's pretty much like a regular septic tank. But a mini version and the main tank has a temped glass window on top. In full sunlight, the sun shines in & makes solar heat. Like car sitting in the sun. The solar heat & UV rays break the 💩 down into compost really quick..

Great info thank you. Yes that is helpful. There is a water main, sewer and electric that I can hook up to immediately for about $1500 hookup service for all of them. I can work on that as I figure out the other off-grid ideas for backup systems. yes I found that some Missouri counties are very off-grid friendly. Some that are close to bigger cities are not. This town that I'm in probably has more restrictions within the city limits, but the county is pretty loose with those restrictions. I'm not too worried about it since I know there are more people around this area interested in the off-grid ideas and the town will loosen up even more. I will look into that channel you referenced.

@@extremebudget My mom has a small home in Monmouth IL that I might end up with...What's a bummer though is it's about 25yrds within city limits...Had the house been located across the last street on the edge of town. It'd be considered NOT within city limits & city zoning rules wouldn't apply. . So if wanted to for example, keep 10 goats in my backyard. I couldn't do so but her neighbors right across the street can because they're a few feet outside the city limit.....I wasn't trying to promote SolarCabins channel but he explains in simple easy detail. How someone can get fully setup to live comfortably in a cabin or RV off grid without having to do or build lot's of expensive projects.

@@michaelbrinks8089 That's what I have run into as well. I do think that times are changing though. By necessity many towns will have to eliminate the restrictions for basic survival needs and/or to attract new people. Some small towns have a general Federal regulation book, but the towns people don't abide by them. You would just have to be in good with your neighbors. The regulations should be reflecting what the towns people want anyway.

Don't ever move here if you think life will be easier. We folks here value our way if life and don't want it to change. Self-reliance and conservative values are the norm in rural MO. If you are in a small town there can be regulations, especially when it comes to land maintenance. Small towns can also be unfriendly, so be careful and investigate and UNDERSTAND what life hete is like. As far as purchasing property, there are tax sales every year in many counties. The climate has a big range both lnorth/south and east/west. I have been here 40 years and they have been great. Please don't come here and decide to make MISSOURI to your liking. Go someplace that suits you just as it is. I would like to see this last bastion of old American values left UNWOKE. I have seen people move here with the idea the natives are dumb and backwards. They max out in sbout two year in patience, tolerance and money ...and go back where they came from. I sure wish people would stop touting MO as a place to escape to the people who need to flee what they voted for should continue to stay there and fix what they did. California people hate us most of all, they come loud and throwing money around, they leave quietly and poorer, in about two years. People here are Christian with Christian values and love thy neighbor is not just a saying. I hope I bhave discouraged folks who would not be happy here being their own 911, responsible and law abiding, I am seeing that the more newcomers now, the more problems develop.

I have seen what you are talking about everywhere in the smallest towns. And it is true, the people who desire to move with like-minded people will have to study out what they want to do and where. I am pretty confident that subscribers on this channel are people that would be good and beneficial folks to have around. Changes are going to happen even more this next year. We see the bad, but there is a lot of good happening.

@@extremebudget I'm sure everybody could find their perfect spot somewhere, but they better look carefully and realize nothing is perfect. Also realize those native to the area won't change to suit them. I just want to warn people to explore before they pack up and leave. Best way I used to explore and find names of towns and the newspapers in the areas of interest was to use The United Country Real Estate Catalog, that was long ago and only the print was available and it was free. I just checked there is a digital catalog now and a print copy also. I don't know if they mail it for free , but you can search the site I believe. Good leads there even if they don't have exactly what you are looking for a good way to pinpoint areas that interest you.

@@michelestellar7725 Yes it is good to research explore a lot before making a decision. It may take months and years to figure out. And then it won't be perfect-- I may have to make another video on the realities of the search for land.
