    Not to nitpick, but it wouldve been also good to add that magic can be countered by a number of groups and organizations like the Seekers and Templars, each eith their own uniquely powerful styles in doing so

      @@kaenidragaenmond3544 thats fair! But for the sake of time- things needed to be cut and that was one of those things. The series is designed for like the ssuuupperrr basic world buildings bits. ‘watched over by the Chantry’s Templars- Knights who take Lyrium to repress magic.’ Seemed like the best place to start people. Seekers dont even come into the series until DA2, and are basically broken by DAI! And with DAV in mostly Tevinter, id be surprised if they even showed up!

      @GhilDirthalen I daresay the majority of us would prefer a comprehensive approach rather than a time efficient one 😅

    How come the tranquil aren't mentioned? There are mages who are willingly lose their feels and dreams or deemed be dangerous to themself or others. It wouldn't fit in the video, would it?

      @@kaenidragaenmond3544 Yes. In DAO, Owain found in the Stockroom of magical items, chose Tranquility over doing the Harrowing. He feels no regret for that decision.

      @@xer_7438 honestly, mostly because of time. There was a lot of magical concepts that could have been added- like golems- that i just ended up cutting.

      @@kaenidragaenmond3544I think it’s mentioned in DAO for a mage Warden and one NPC in DAI’s Haven says she chose to forgo the Harrowing and willingly chose Tranquility due to her lack of magical talent. Granted, it’s not exactly a fair choice, but technically there are mages who “choose” it. But after Cassandra’s
      personal quest, I’m betting that Tranquility will become a very rare thing.

      @@xer_7438not all of them. Canonically, the right of Tranquility was supposed to be a death sentence kind of penalty to a mage, but now templars use it on any mage that doesn't follow their commands or fights back against them

    I think these videos would be much better if they were comprehensive.

    • @GhilDirthalen
      @GhilDirthalen  Місяць тому +4

      So I hear what you are saying- from this and your other comment, haha! But the problem is where do you draw the line in the lore to make 'comprehensive'? You probably just said 'everything!' But does that include the Orlesian monarchy history? The different classifications of magic? The different circle fraternities? She of the Red?? At one point you need to stop because you will overwhelm people. The goal of this video series is to help send people off to DAO (And for 201, Send people off to DAV), and let the games give a better description of the rest. All you really need to know about Templars is that they take lyrium to stop magic and watch over mages. Cassandra's whole arc is about the Seekers, which I don't think carries over to DAV. Golems are arguably a worse thing to cut, however I'm also holding on to that one for a dwarf video later down the line!
      Also sorry I wrote so much- I'm very passionate about this series, haha.
