Eubank did brilliant in this fight.But when it came to fighting big names overseas in USA his bottle disappeared and prefered to fight none other than boring 12 round mandatories for tthe next five years.His fights with Carl Thompson at cruiserweight were good though

What a BATTLE!! This was one for the ages, I wasn't even born yet but I was thinking about the Joe Rogan video. Then I watched Ubanks apologizing for the damage he caused, which had to be such a weight off his chest! Easily, one of the best fights in the history of boxing! Two warriors! Incredible fight. Chris Eubank took the worst beating of his life, but managed to hold on to get the win. Those punches Nigel Benn was landing on Eubank's chin and body would have definitely stopped 99% of other opponents.

Awful stoppage, especially because there were only a few seconds left in the round. Richard Steele was notorious for bad stoppages. Just look at Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor 1. Richard Steele stopped the fight with just a few seconds to go in the final round, giving Chavez the win he wouldn't have got on the scorecards.
It has nothing to do with how many seconds are left. Benn wasn't defending himself properly and Eubank began unloading. As a referee if a fighter isn't defending himself intelligently and taking shots you have to step in, it only takes a split second to unload a career ending shot. Going out on your shield is such a bullshit 80s mindset, ask Michael Watson or Gerald McClellan their views on early stoppages vs going out on your shield. Both were exceptionally great fighters. Both had very good power, maybe Nigel a little more. But Eubank had a much better chin and was a better defensive fighter also don't waste energy like Nigel. Also more accurate.

So many great names and battles to name a few N Benn, R Hatton, J watt, J Calaghe, Rod Hill vs Parky etc It was part of growing up. Down the shops for ginger and crisps and a night in watching fights or in the pub with mates. The nearest thing to electronics was teletext. Hope this finds you well reader.

Considering Eubank was so orthodox he wouldn't fight southpaws, he ain't half an unorthodox orthodox. Just come across the fight again. Memories, Eubank hated for his manner , his boxing ability got over looked but most of all he was made of granite!! For what? We all thought McClellan had quit at the time. It wasn't until a minute or so after the stoppage we knew it was very different.
I miss when they would use standing 8 counts instead of stopping it when the guy is wobbled.
