1.9 Million claim Welsh ancestry, yet over 9 million Americans hold Such names that originate in Wales. What does that say? It says People in America still refuse to understand the difference between the English and Welsh. The English people are Anglo Saxon whereas the Welsh are Britons.

They don’t refuse to understand, they just don’t understand. I am American, and I lived in Wales for 17 years. My son is half Welsh. They just don’t get it.

I feel like it is the same with Ulster-Scots/Scots-Irish and Irish. A lot of Americans from Ulster-Scots heritage claim to be Irish. I think they just hear Irish in the name and wrongly assume.
