Tywin Lannister is doing a great job portraying Charles Dance.
Christian Vennemann I know
πππ
Although the expression he pulls at around 4.58 after she gives him the photo is an expression I dont think I've seen Charles pull with any of his characters. He always plays too much of a hard ass.
Charles Dance must be one of the few men left that can honestly say, "My father was a Boer War veteran". I find that extraordinary!!
My mum can say that. She was born when he was over 60.
My grandfather is a boer in South Africa πΏπ¦
@@sit-insforsithis1568 HAIL THE NIGHTMOTHER! HAIL SITHIS!!!
Charles Dance would have played a perfect Imperial officer in Star Wars, on par with Peter Cushing.
The Boulder imperial officer? He deserve to play a Sith Lord
He's too good for Star Wars.
@@olleselin He has a natural authoritative tone with his deep voice and confident stature. Not to mention his reputation as Tywin Lannister only serves to make his image as a tough leader even more compelling on-screen and on-person.
@@olleselin Star Wars is currently having issues and controversy over their recent films by pandering to the SJW's. Anyone who stars in any future Star Wars film isn't going to get a good reputation because of that. @Messylin is probably implying that Charles Dance is better off not starring in any Star Wars film until the people behind the once-beloved film series actually start making good films instead of pushing a political agenda into everyone's faces.
Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) has a striking resemblance to count dooku. He could be an excellent man to portray Darth Tyrannus. Especially in terms of separatist parliament politics.
Charles' father was born in 1874. Charles was born in 1946. Charle's youngest daughter was born in 2012. Her grandfather is 138 years older than her
Whoa. πππ
They were born literally in different centuries
Saudi Royal Family: hold my dahwa
Thatβs one heck of a generation gap!
And some people have grandparents 30 years older than them
For me, he is the epitome of a Victorian guy. Elegant, eloquent, and well mannered.
most people in victorian era didnt know how to read

@@Readraid_
Yeah commoners maybe. But heβs obviously talking about rich Victorians.
Were you around back then?
@@Kylirr that is a very stupid question, as none of us were around in the historical period such as two world wars, the medieval times and the time of the Egyptians and other great time. Period.
"Do you see a resemblance?" Yes they're the spitting image of each other
Seeing a man like him emotional is just beyond amazing.
If Charles Dance hasn't been knighted by the Queen yet, then he needs to be.
He was knighted as an officer back in 2006.
@@vinnie245 I read was "appointed" as an officer, not knighted... So is that actually better? Knighted still sounds cooler, and that's probably why you forced the word in there too
Bao Ngo yes !
oh no
he must be hand of the queen,it his place
how dare people presume he could be knighted? he should knight himself, he's the only worth one to do so π
Heβs such a wonderful man, who States he wasnβt very good academically in school but still seems extremely knowledgeable and makes us, in our new century seem quite unintelligent
There are plenty of highly intelligent men and women who did not perform very well academically. Most modern academic studies are about route memorization and not truly about actually learning something.
@Jeremy Grigson Yeah- everybody depends on their phones and GPS now. Proves nobody is learning route memorization anymore.
People who do well in school tend to work in education because they understand the environment. Many people who donβt succeed in school tend to thrive elsewhere.
@@LordMalice6d9Fr your Grades in school donβt determine actual intelligence
i can't even begin to imagine what it is like to have never really known your father as he had you really later in life, and then to discover you have siblings 50 years older than you who knew him completely. must be such a mix of emotions
I love this actor. He is 74 and in about 10 movies/ shows over the last 2 years. He may be considered a working actor to some but he is brilliant and under rated.
Yes, he is...star quality....he has it by the truckload..
"Is that the old man?" Charles I think that's you with a sepia filter.
Her giving him the photo is so touching. Good that this happened
This guy would make an amazing timelord!
Ambient Joe He has been cast in similar roles. Charles Dance is a legendary actor.
I've always adored Charles Dance.
I love watching him discover he turns out to have so much in common with his father.
It's saddening when children don't grow up knowing their parent/grandparent.
I learned most of my most treasured knowledge from my father and grandparents.
Glad to say my mother still lives and is still teaching me new things into my 30's.
I didn't learn anything from my father. I can only give him credits for his disdain towards me which compelled me to be successful.
@@doctorpanigrahi9975 if there's no love there can't be any success, doing thingd fueled by anger only leads to emptiness even if you achieve whatever you were trying to achieve.
Gravitas: A very rare quality. This man has it by the bucket load.

He's so humble and cute and honest! He shows his feelings! I think his life isn't easy at all! Lov you mister dance! Stay brave!
with tears in my eyes, i'll never look at tywin the same way again.
Never heard of him until Imitation Game but he really owned every scene he was in and now I want to see more of his work
What a nice chap Charles dance is. Down to earth lovely chap.
What a great voice he has
Showing such emotional depth for an Englishman.
I can imagine it must be heartbreaking to know so little about your parents.
As a person who is a stiff upper lip Englishman, I can say that he was quite emotional.
Charles Dance, Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Caine, and a few others, that class of elder statesmen of British film will never be replaced.....
All Lannister jokes aside, that was pretty sweet of her to give him the picture of his dad. Was she the dad's granddaughter or grand-niece...? They mentioned something about what you would call their relationship in an easy, joking sort of manner which is why I was leaning towards the grand-niece bit bc with cousins shit can get tricky when you start adding up the "once removed" & "twice removed" of it all. Think it's pretty cool he found out about his father in that manuscript! π
She is the grandaughter of Charles half sister
Cousins are actually pretty easy to work out. Count the grands and greats back to the common ancestor, then add a removal for however many generations difference there is. Your third cousin twice removed is a good example. Twice removed is two generations back or forward, in this case we'll say back, so your grandparents third cousin. Three = two greats and a grand, so they share a great-great-grandparent in common.
@@martynnotman3467 wow can you imagine being middle aged or something and still having a grand uncle alive
I love that he is excited and really emphasize on their similarities! I did not know my father until i was about 15 so i can def related to his feelings!
listening to him speak is joy
Charles Dance needs to portray Magneto in the MCU's version of X-Men. Look at him. This man has the presence to make justice to the character.
He'll overwhelm any actor playing Professor X
I LOVE Charles Dance. I hadnβt heard of him before (though Iβve seen him) but heβs open, engaging and Iβm interested in watching more he has done. Well done him and them for starting, βday oneβ.
I have a huge crush on Dance.
so Im not the only one, ok
I call myself a straight man, but the dude is without question handsome and has that typical old man suave and sexiness only the great possess (like sean connery and christopher lee rip).
Good to know there's more of us
Goodness, I'm not alone ΰ²₯βΏΰ²₯
I have for 40 years...ever since I first saw him in a movie. I am 67 and he still makes my heart beat faster.Handsome man.
Gosh it made me somewhat teary, guess that happens when you don't cry for 5 years and then see this overwhelming reaction... Cheers Mr. Charles Dance, wherever he is he'll be looking out for you with pride and love.
My grandfather fought in the Boer wars as a ghurka. I would love to learn more about his path from Burma to South Africa to London. Charles Dance is a wonderful actor and lovely fellow by the looks of this.

Tywin Lannister.
crunk4124 it is...it is indeed
Charles Dance is effortlessly cool and I hope I could be like that when Im older...he is much kinder than his movie characters portray...I laughed when he said he's hard to "wind up"..I think most people would be too frightened to wind him up when he gives them that steely gaze haha. Knighthood for Charles NOW!!
When i watch charles in a movie no mater the character you forget he is acting as he absorbs the character and all its nuances that is a great talent.
in love with his voice and manliness....#nohomo
mate, no need for 'nohomo'. We knew what you meant. And in fact if you WERE gay, it wouldn't be a problem.
0:21 that was so Tywin Lannister it hurt
Funny story, I woke up from a friends house party in Kentish Town, London, on some sunny morning a couple years ago. Went to the bathroom, washed my face. I looked rough as fuck. Anyway, the window's open cos it's so hot & I'm looking outside into the neighbour's garden (huuuuge) and there's some guy walking around who catches me staring. Looks sort of old.
"Morning!" He shouts, waving at me.
I wave back looking like the cretin that I am. It hits me 'Holy shit that's Charles Dance!'
Seemed lovely, but I left it at that as he looks like a man you shouldn't annoy, and it was my neighbours gaff after all.
Still one of the oddest encounters of my life.
If you look up "English" in a Dictionary, there's just a picture of Charles Dance.
Right next to pictures of Michael Palin and Stephen Fry, I always thought that.
@Sudden Arrival I have a feeling you do not know how Great Britain works.
@Sudden Arrival But rather than giving the proper context like you did just now you chose to first bait with a patronizing statement.
He is both, English and British. Every Englishman is also a Brit.
@Sudden Arrival That is correct.
I felt every emotion right along with you Charles. So said about little Mary, and very moving to find out more about your father. A wonderful episode of WDYTYA
Remarkable human insight into a wonderful actor and a complex, sensitive man.
I'm glad he has this wonderful gift! I admire Charles with a Special feeling! He looks like my Grandfather on Dads side! Everytime I see a movie or anything with Charles I like, his a great actor and that special aspect completes the picture!!!
I Wish him good long life so I can see him and my grandfather in some way!!!!

It is so interesting!!! And they really have close resemblance! Such a touching video!))))
I enjoyed watching this as i enjoy his presence as an actor. And especially to see his human side, seeing he has portrayed generally dark roles in movies.
His sister was about 50 years older than himself... think about that for a second haha

Itβs good to see him well after the incident with his son in the privy.
Watching Tywin Lannister having a moment is intense!! Charles Dance is an epic actor!!!
Damn, had I known he is slow to anger, I would have said at least hello when I passed him by in London earlier this year...
The man has such an aura though that I didnΒ΄t dare disturb him :)
He seems both approachable and intimidating's all at the same time.

I loved Charles Dance in The Jewel in the Crown. I have recently started watching it again, and I still feel the same about Charles Dance. I know that casting has a lot to do with pairing couples, I really wanted to believe that Sarah and Guy were a real couple, although I thought that Sarah was playing hard to get.
