I think the thing I love most about Theophany's remixes is that they are true remixes. So many others just lay a few new beats over the original or change the tempo and call it a remix. In all their work, Theo is basically composing a whole new song. The essence of the original is still there, but the remix wholly becomes it's own thing. Absolutely stunning work. Chills every single time.
From my understanding, remixes aren't a large departure from the original song. All those other songs you're talking about are true remixes. As you mentioned, Theophany is essentially composing a whole new song, not making a remix of a song. Theophany's work is basically [new songs] inspired by the original works rather than merely remixes.
It just goes to show that environment, immersion, and atmosphere really can be established in a minute, but over the course of nine and half minutes it grows to a beauty such as this. That's what allows Theophany to shine in all of his work. His pieces all have attributes of remastered, in-game soundtrack, and cinematic orchestration that allows for such beautiful interpretation. And he doesn't shy away from longer tracks to take the time to progress into such beautiful atmospheric movements.
'Tis a shame that we haven't heard very much from Theophany lately, either on the musical or textual fronts. Theo, you're an amazing composer and a marketing genius. Wherever you are, I hope you become a great success, man.
This is so FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE IN A LIVE ACTION METROID! I'm just imagining the epicness of it all playing in my head as this song plays. THANK YOU for creating this! I love it!
For those who have expressed disappointment that the original Brinstar theme is not prominent in this remix, Theophany is one of those artists who gives you something that is more *inspired* by the originals. Have a listen to Lovers Mask, a "remix" from Majora's Mask. It's got some thematic elements, but it stands on its own as an original creation. I feel the same way about this. Or perhaps you didn't realize this is the music from Kraid's Lair, which happens to be under Brinstar, hence its depths.
@@owenerickson8947 They had expectations of Metroid but got X-ray dog. I don't like the vocals personally because it doesn't fit the theme. It's an amazing piece, but isn't really "Metroid."
@@grawss True. This isn’t Metroid anymore. But, to be fair, this is Harmony of Heroes we’re talking about. That’s kind of the point. Saria’s Fairy-go-round is the Zelda Lost Woods as a carousel song. @@owenerickson8947 That actually puts things into a bit of perspective for me. I didn't realize this was supposed to be anything but a Metroid remix. I'm still a tad irrationally disappointed. I want Theophany to cater to my tastes damnit! 🤣
I absolutely love all of Theophany's music, especially being a huge Majora's Mask fan. But this one, I keep coming back to. This might be one of my favorite pieces of music ever conceived. It would fit perfectly in an extended trailer for the season finale of a Metroid TV series where Samus descends into the depths to face her final challenges. Just amazing stuff.
Holy mother of god, this is an epic, legendary-level masterpiece of exquisite taste. Well done, man..if my ears could water, they'd be watering right now.
I know that this song is basically Kraid's lair but for some reason it really evokes Metroid Fusion in my mind. To me it captures the creep factor and threat that Fusion has that is different than the other games. It's also so cinematic and epic in scope.
This is not an overstatement, this is not hyperbole at all. This is a genuine assessment. But I think I rate you as the greatest musician of all time. There is not a single track I know of of yours that I do not love immensely!
This song inspired me to write the possible plot of a very weird, dark, and epic Metroid game. Metroid Prime: Synthesis. Following the events of Metroid Fusion, the X parasite is becoming a rampant force in the galaxy. Since the metroids, which are the X parasite's natural predators, are extinct, the only metroid DNA that exists is contained inside Samus' body due to the fusion procedure. Samus is of course called to be the first line of defense against the X parasite, but in an exceedingly dangerous mission she is killed, but not before her consciousness is transferred to a Galactic Federation base. A new body is reconstructed for her, but since it was created using normal human DNA she is now incompatible with her armor and has to re-obtain its powers once again. Meanwhile, her old body still exists, and is retrieved by space pirates after the battle. The space pirates quickly realize that her body contains metroid DNA, and realize they can chop it up and sell it throughout the galactic black market. Of course, it falls into the wrong hands and some unknown party starts using Samus' body parts to clone an army of weaponized metroids. Samus is tasked with tracking down whoever is responsible and retrieving her own body parts as well as put an end to the synthesized metroid army (all while still fighting off space pirates and X parasite, as well as becoming reaccustomed to her armor and new body), but she is conflicted by the fact that 1) this is a chance to save the metroid species from extinction and 2) all the metroids literally come from her now, so she is like their mother. Pros: Realistic reason for upgrades, epic galaxy-spanning quest, plenty of different enemy and environment possibilities, concise story tied closely with Samus' own motivations, no Adam Malkovich [Possible subjective] cons: THE IDEA IS FREAKING CREEPY AND WEIRD AND I LOVE IT
I absolutely LOVE this plot, why don't u try and see if u can pitch it to nintendo? They have been trying to come up with a new Metroid game for a while now since other M failed
Harrison Roig You really should try to contact Nintendo, because this plot would work so nice in a metroid game. Because it is kinda dark and creepy, you could call it the Majoras Mask of the Metroid franchise.

Why can't I like this more than once ? I mean, I was already astonished by your work on Time's End, but now, what more can I say ..? Thanks, man, Thank you.
Thank you so much for doing a remix with Dillon's art that celebrates the complex force that is Samus, not the adulteration that is Porno-Suit. Spandex does not humanize. Also, I love Intravia's vocalizations in tandem with this cyber-symphony. It underscores how Aran is a juggernaut because of who she is and what her losses have given her. I keep talking the more I keep thinking... Samus is both tragic and triumphant. She is a woman of power and determination, but one so scarred by loss and violence that she has no concept of functionality outside of the job.
Ok calm down there buddy, yes maybe Porno-Suit was funny, but be honest and realize that Zero Suit was introduced in 2004 in 8-bit fashion simply to add more gameplay mechanics and entertainment. It had nothing to do with sexualization, and while you may believe that that is what happened as graphics got better, the fact remains that if samus had a below average body and face, then it would simply be wrong. Male and female superheroes and characters have always been created in very attractive manners, look at Link. Even Mario isnt the ugliest guy. You don’t see “ugly” people in video games or movies too often, and the protagonists are almost always pretty, ripped, voluptuous, etc. Because it makes the experience more entertaining, most people would rather have a hot avatar than a butt ugly fat dude. So say what you will, but at the end of the day you seem to be coming off very white knightish for a fictional character.
