hey, thanks for the video. the default stick was to loose for me and making me go crazy, so i swapped it out for the very same one you got and much prefer it. thanks again.
1.57 - I prefer to do one button a time, it’s easier…. 8.47 - ripping all buttons out 😂 ….great video, loved it. (Ordered a Hori stick after watching this…)
I've heard online that the Seimitsu LS-32 and the LS-40 are the two gold standard arcade sticks in most Japanese arcade cabinets. The 32 debuted in the original Street Fighter 2 arcade and is seen as being a better option for fighting games, and the LS-40 is the original Neo Geo arcade stick, and most say it's a little better for shmups, although most agree that both sticks can really do great with all games. I got the LS-40 in my Hori Alpha and I really like it. I'm a big Magical Drop fan so I wanted that original Neo Geo stick, plus I mostly play shmups anymore over fighting games. Also I got the Seimitsu Lemon Yellow ball and I love it!
So it's not perfect but a lot better. I neatly zip tied the power cable around the cable holder, and I used a USB extension cable, and now it has a detachable cable.
1:04 whoa he made the stick disappear and then reappear from off camera. MAGIC. On another note, there is a SF6 version of this stick available for pre-order now, LETS GOOOOO
I try the same but I don't get the cables removed. 😅 Can you explain it for me? I know you have to push such small lock thingy down but I don't want to push too hard
Bought one of these in January 2023 and it worked well until this month (November 2023) It starting turning on by itself if left plugged in and now while playing its starting to disconnect and reconnect randomly
Nice and detailed tutorial but I've got a few quick questions for you, if you don't mind..... How come you didn't go with a Sanwa Joystick to match the Buttons.....What made you choose a Seimitsu stick instead ?? Also, does the Seimitsu stick have an Octagonal or Square Gate (if I'm right in saying, the Alpha comes with a Square Gate, Yes !?).....Which type do you prefer and why ?? !! Thanks in Advance !!
Awesome video and great upgrades. How easy do you think it'd be to gut that casing and rehouse everything in a new box? Kinda scary to buy this for $200 and then tear into it so this vid helps a lot!
If you're gonna mount the hardware to a different box then you might as well buy the individual components as new so you can get better parts for less money and not waste the case
If you just play fighting games then the stick and buttons are totally fine out of the box for me. But I’ve noticed that playing shmups you can’t get those very fine, precise movements, so I was thinking about replacing the arcade stick with the LS-32, the one in this vid.
Just got this stick, and it's going to buy my first time modding. Couple questions, what size are the buttons? I bought a restrictor gate looooong time ago for an old may flash, it says sanwa, if i want to use that, id need a sanwa lever right? Or does hori make restrictor gates?
Were those 2 middle holes for the joystick mounting bracket actually threaded on yours? Mine don't seem to be threaded at all. Just bought a Seimitsu stick and can't even mount it...
Hi, I really enjoyed this video and I was inspired to add an ls-32 to my personal Fighting Stick Alpha... Can you please let me know if you used the same screws that were securing the original Hayabusa stick to secure the ls-32 on the center holes to the mounting plate? I'm having the toughest time trying to turn these screws that came off of the stick. Thanks, really appreciate any help or advice on this! -Pete
same issue and figured it out somehow from TaiWan channel's instruction, you have to do the tapping (create the thread for your screw to screw in )by M4 size
That's great! Sorry I didn't see your response from awhile back, can you tell me his channel name? I think I understand from you you said, but to see him do it would be great.
Is it possible to remove the PCB board and wiring and then transfer it over to an old arcade joystick that I love😅 so it would work on PS5? Thanks. (Basically not wanting the externals and taking out the internals.)
I want to get a sawna stick the same size as the stick this came with I like it alot. What type of Hayabusa stick is this, I can't find any info anywhere
Hori is definitely not the best stick or buttons. They known for feeling too mushy. Like if u press a button 4 times in a row without lookin u dnt feel each press.
The buttons on mine feel great, the stick was bad though. A lot of dead space, long time to return to neutral. 4 dollar fix, I put in a 4lb spring and a 2mm steel actuator. No problems now, took a month to acclimate to a stiffer stick though. But damn near no dead space and almost immediate return to neutral
Great in-depth video !! I have a quick question for you.....Basically, I have an idea for the design I want for my Xbox Series-X Version of the Hori Alpha-A Fight Stick BUT I don't know where to start or how to go about getting it made at-all.....If you can give me any advice or help it would be Very Much Appreciated !?!?
The stick is AWFUL! I still use my Hori Fighting Edge (PS3) on my Series-X with a Wingman2 XB because the stick is great, but stuck when it comes to Fony PayStation (wish I had never bought a PS5, utter trash!) but not much choice when it comes to Fony PissStation 5 when playing PS5 exclusives like DNF. Ordered the Seimitsu 40th anniversary edition and can’t wait to fit it. Thanks for the informative video, haven’t missed a stick in years.
Hello, never modded a stick before but love to try. Can anyone here tell me how to look for a lever that is compatible with the hori alpha? Or is it universal?
Hori Alpha Stick for XBOX I have a question. I want buy Hori Alpha Stick for my XBOX, and put CardiMod WASD instead of lever, but there is originally 6 pin connector connected to 5 pin lever. Somebody maybe know that is it work like normal 5 pin conector? I just wanna put CardiMod WASD on this but I am not sure that fit here, maybe somebody here made it before on this stick. I saw that some ppl did it on PS5 version of that stick but I am not sure that will work the same on Hori Alpha for XBOX.
This video was very informative and helpful, but I did have a question regarding the buttons. This will be my very first fight stick and I planned on modding it. What size are the buttons on the stick? I'm looking to purchase some Sanwa buttons but I see they offer 24 and 30 mm buttons. What would be the correct size to use for this stick?
Thanks for this! Just replaced my stick with a Sanwa JLF with your help. The screws holding down my Hori stick were wayyy over-tightened. I almost stripped one of them.
Oh how i enjoy watching guys who so clearly have never worked a day in their lives with actual tools figure out backwards ass ways to accomplish things.
@Serge Thank you for all of the information... Definitely above and beyond. 👍 You did mention the Korean sticks... how about a little more input on those... please and thank you.
I have a cable mod video on my channel for the Hori fighting stick Alpha, feel free to take the idea and run with it, your channel would reach way more eyes
Not really an upgrade bc the hori parts are not worse than seimitsu or sanwa. Just different. I havent modded any of my sticks. So i have sanwa, hayabusa sticks and the wireless 8bitdo which i upgrade once the no name parts are degrading. Of course i enjoy your modding video nevertheless.
I have been reading the same, but have no real world experience. Do you own any of these arcade sticks? I was considering the Nacon Daija for my Series X as well. I am looking for opinions.
Did anybody else notice that Briar Rabbit is color blind? He thought the red cable was orange. That aside, I love the astro design for this stick. I almost want to buy it just to do this mod.
Hori's hayabusa lever and hayabusa buttons suck. The hayabusa lever is way too loose and the hayabusa buttons are oversensitive. I would stick with either sanwa or seimitsu arcade parts.
I don’t have an arcade stick or even a Playstation, but always stop in to watch and support the channel! Looks retro and i like it!

Looks clean! Hard to go wrong with Astro City. Nice job.
You are the best made this so easy! Specially the artwork thanks for the guide my stick looks exactly how I wanted it to
I missed mine to Crown 202s and added a 2lb tension spring with an oversized actuator it feels so much nicer !

Love the color scheme of the buttons to new artwork.
Saved this while awaiting my order from Focus Attack today. Thank you for settling my first arcade stick mod anxiety lmao

A proper Sega Astro arcade stick with a proper Sega layout! Keep the real arcade panels alive!

Any help?
How did you get the screw in the center hole of the joystick mount? Mine aren't threaded so I can't screw them in.

could you send a link of the screwdrivers you used while modding your fighting stick
