What a difference from the last piece from book 1! Book one's last prelude and fugue were massive in scope and design. This little piece is like the Gettysburg address by president Lincoln: short, to the point, and profound at the same time. Thank you so much, Bach Society for Blessing all of us with these performances ❤
I don't know what I did in my life before in order to be gifted with the opportunity of enjoy this amazing project for free. Thanks to all of you guys for creating such a great movie about Well tempered clavier. She is beautiful, the places, the instruments, the camera and sound work and the rest of the production people. Respect. God Bless Everyone ❤
Amazing finish to this truly amazing WTK 2 by Christine Schornsheim. I listened thrilled and enraptured to the 24 videos (some of them several dozen times!) and here are my absolute favourite Schornsheim interpretations: D sharp minor (she offers the best interpretation I know of this prelude and fugue); A minor; B flat major; B major. All the others are astonishing too, but these four stand out as examples of timeless perfection. We'll be listening to them again and again, many years from now.
Wonderful performance of one of my favorite fugues from all of WTC. I know from experience that this one is hard to play well. But such a big musical reward when it is played well, like this. cheers
What a thrilling privilege to hear Schornsheim play the whole WTC II. Thank you for posting these. Might you give a list of the 12 venues chosen, and which Preludes/Fugues were done in each? For those of us who haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting Utrecht, it would be lovely to know what we are seeing while hearing this wonderful virtuoso. Brava bravissima!
Thank you, Schornsheim et al! I'm here in Haarlem, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Leeuwarden, Leiden this week and next. Organs - yes! Where are the harpsichord concerts?
If both manuals are moving in conjunction. What is the purpose of pressing one manual versus another. Won't the same system operate within the instrument whether you press the top manual or bottom
The manuals can be coupled (and move together if one is played) but can also be uncoupled and then the player, using registration, can make the two keyboards sound differently.
You should always get ear-phones to be able to get the sound of a harpsichord and in general. But maybe you did use them. Dry from a telephone you do not get the real sound at all. At least that's my experience.

Yo creo que el sonido es un poco deficiente. Una lastima
How so?
