Hooray, a return to only-acrosses solving! I enjoy these a lot more than the Monday speed solves! You did really well at this one, too, it was pretty tricky in this mode.
For my 2 cents, this is a great way to solve a Monday puzzle and adds some fun strategy! (One thing I noticed today was how easily "S" and "D" can be interchangeable based on whether a verb is present or past tense.)
i tried this challenge today myself for the first time and i was pleasantly surprised to solve it without any downs 😊 its a fun challenge, please do more!
I was slightly less than three minutes slower than Chris's solve. Even though I was slower and didn't narrate my thought process, and actually read the down clues, this feels like a win.
Hep was beatnik slang used for a pretty limited time. It was probably mostly heard in movies/tv. It was a bit fringe and most often heard as “hep cat”.
I always like the acrosses/downs solves. Like the speed solves, it’s a different way of solving that makes the easier puzzles of the week more entertaining to watch.
I frequently find with the easier Monday puzzles that I know the answer straight off, but doubt myself when it's time to type it in, only to circle back later in the puzzle to learn that- yes indeed- my initial instinct was correct. I think over in my video for today I did that on FOUR separate clues. :{
One more vote for: Do more across/down only solves! I try to do all Mondays and some Tuesdays this way to make it more challenging and so that it's not over in 6 minutes :)

Maybe that’s the new way to complete your Monday puzzle ?
Very clever & fun to watch 🇬🇧🇺🇸
please do only downward/across solves more - it’s great!!! so fun.
Agreed, think this is a great addition to the Monday solves which are otherwise pretty self-explanatory.

I really enjoy when you do the crossword this way!

Very impressed by this solve. You still managed to solve it faster than I did.

Fun technique. Please consider doing just the downs next Monday.
Really enjoyed the new way of solving xD

My favourite solve yet! Increases the challenge for you and keeps it interesting for the viewer on a Monday.

Well done. Amazed it worked out. I did wonder how long to erase lighthouse, but everyone’s minds work differently.
I think they’re all 2nd person just cause it feels more of a theme
I think theyre all second person words because those are the only middle english words the majority of people will have heard of

THEE is accusative (direct object), still sometimes heard in Yorkshire ("I'll sithee" = "I'll see ya") -- or dative ("to thee").
Like most of the comment section here - I’m a fan of this style of solve today!
59 down - I was convinced I’d done something wrong and it should be HIP but apparently HEP is some slang that I am out of the loop on
Hepcats were a thing in the 50s and early 60s beatnik era.
