“Keeping Time” - written by Maureen Ennis and Perry Chafe for the Father/Daughter dance at Karen’s wedding.
It became the title track and impetus for the overall concept of the new Ennis Sisters CD, “Keeping Time”.
The song references 8 classic NL waltzes and is a tribute to their late father, John Ennis.
It reflects back to the beautiful moments of dancing with their father at garden parties, family gatherings and other celebrations over the years.
Their father loved to dance especially to NL waltzes and if you were fortunate enough to have a dance with him, it was the best dance of the night.
The concept for the video was conceived by Shehab Illyas of Skylab Productions. In it, the sisters are remembering the special moments of their childhood as they watch old home movies in a 1970’s themed setting.
It’s about keeping time both in music and in life.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Ennis Sisters in concert last night in Halifax. Such a great night, beautiful voices, and their genuine nature and kind spirit shone through.
I'm not even in a relationship but this is the song that I want to dance to, with my father, on my wedding day. ❤❤❤ Sobbed when I listened to it.

More recently, via Amazon, I’ve become more acquainted with their music. With its smooth, clear mix of affection, sorrow, reflectivity and sincere, heartfelt optimism, it’s become a cherished balm - very glad to have happened upon their songs.
