Girting of tugs - use of gob line or gob railing

  • This is video 12 in the series of videos on ship handling.
    This video discusses the girting (girding or girthing) of tugs that occurs when the ship pulls the tug instead of the tug pulling the ship.
    The reasons girting may occur and the ways to prevent it are discussed. The role of the gob railing and gobline is also included in the discussion.
    Diagrams are used to aid student understanding.

    Excellently simplified. I was reading in various books for my master's exam in UK . But the explanation in the books and in the you tube is so overly complicated. You really made it very lucid

    this has been explained in such a simple manner that even a cadet can easily understand. i was never able to know why it happens but after watching this video it is now imprinted in my mind. thanks a lot sir

    Captain, I follow your channel, it has a lot of good videos. I think they are very completed and illustrative, the only thing that I suggest to you respectfully is to improve the sound in them, in a lot of your good videos the sound is very poor and it is very difficult to understand what you are explaining. Thank you very much for your contribution to the seafarer's training and learning.

      Dear Gabriel, Thank you so much for your kind feedback. I completely agree with you. Unfortunately, some of the earlier videos I made have some audio issues. I will try and re-record them:)
