I really want to thank you for this podcast. I was diagnosed 11 years ago, and the medication has become less helpful and more of a problem lately. DBS seems like the next step. I’m only 57, so I am nowhere near ready to hang up my spurs. I appreciate you sharing your journey so openly!
Hi guys, I just came up with your channel. I think you’re doing a great job informing from the patient perspective. Few doctors have suggest that I am a good candidate for DBS. I’ve been diagnosed for 11 years I’m currently 59. I am waiting for the Parkinson gloves. If that doesn’t happen, I will consider for DBS.
Great about your foot. I got a bone spur on my pinky toe because I was walking on it awkwardly. Had to have it filed down; it remains inflammed a bit, but no problem as before
This has been a good insight into DBS. I am 61 and applying for disability. I have been encouraged by my neurologist to pursue this treatment. Thank you for your viewpoints.
1 pill 4x a day, nice! I’m at 15 2.5 sinimet plus 1 entacopone 7x per day plus control release before bed. Wishing you the best guys! Battle on and exercise every single day! Start right away if your not. I weight train every morning at home at 6am. High intensity 20min that’s it. Feel free to check out my chest work out❤
The surgeon said he'd see me in 15 years to replace the battery. I believe it would last for the remainder of my life, but as we know everyone progresses different.
@@brianbaker4648hi Brian , are you tremor dominant? Or gait dominant? I’ve been reading DBS does not work as well if gait dominant. Also, did you have any leg tremors? If so have they stopped?

For how long is DBS effective? If someone get DBS at the age of 50, can we expect it to sustain for remaining life ?

@@brianbaker4648 That's great. Many thanks for reply. You all are inspiration.

Do you think after the operation you can go back to do things you did before PD, like playing tennis or golf?
