- This episode is a quick one to wrap up the topic of knee pain. We continue talking about center of gravity and base of support, and how it relates to knee pain. More importantly, we talk about how to take steps to reverse the causes of the pain. It might be simpler than you think. There are several activities that can be done, but we get into a few in particular. #kneepain #workouts #physicaltherapy #injury #health #fitness

Again... Robert is a real one.
Thanks Bill and Chris
most welcome
You're a real one.
Really love this podcast, definitely gets me thinking about my interventions! Always good nuggets!
Thanks!
Thank you
Bill can you explain the setup for left lateral knee pain? The video now is done on the R side. Can you shortly explain how you would lineup for left lateral knee pain? Which foot forward, band in which hand? Maybe raise the left foot? Keep cable in R hand?
Completely random question, but if you were to suddenly stop yourself during a full sprint would you be capturing early or middle propulsion in that moment? Thanks for all you guys do.
early then middle.
The foot has to reach in front first to start resisting forward motion in early. Then you have to maximally resist in middle p.
Hey Bill, how would you setup for left medial knee pain? Same as on the R? Or use a slight tweak? (To keep pelvis turned to L?)
Capture foot contacts and either slow down the left side or advance the right side.
Thanks for watching
This stuff is good. So in both cases, medial and lateral knee pain is a lack of genuine IR?
Is the recon program also made for rehabbing knee stuff? Like is there an assessment section to start with so you can find the root cause of the knee issues? And then hopefully a program will be created based on the assessment? Cheers!
It does not replace physical therapy nor address a specific diagnosis.
@@BillHartmanPT Thanks for your response, but is there an assessment section included somewhere? I do know that I lack Hip IR, ankle dorsiflexion and probably foot pronation on the L. Are there exercises included in the recon program to improve all of these things? And does this gradually improve things (step by step)? I assume that it will quite some time to change the shape of the bones.
@@bjornverburgh7516 RECON is a full body program based on foundational structure.
Great summary. Is the first link for medial knee pain and error or was it intentional: links to the supine arm bar?
Thanks for heads up. Will get that fixed.
Fixed. Thanks for watching.
But bill what do you think about someone Who had knee pain for a very long time... in literature and in practice there seem to be people Whos knees are just athropied especially quadriceps, because of lack of use and getting that to a certain volume and strenght usually helps, even if its not in the right position per se.. Is that an instance where you could say that strenght actually matters? Or what are the instances where you would say that we need to get somehting stronger? And Isnt just volume of muscle also important as a force transmiter?
Thanks!
We talk about that with the VMO and the TA in this episode and the last. Hope that helps.
It's actually mentioned at 9:30 in this episode
For patellofemoral pain symptoms, would the lateral knee pain simple videos be more relevant than medial knee pain simple solutions?
start with lateral

Thanks for the support
Hey BIll, Mark in Japan here. My knee pain has returned. Go back to the (less than pleasant!) exercises you gave me years ago, or would your Simple Solutions work? Thanks!
Impossible to say considering the passage of time and potential adaptive changes. Run the experiment and see how you respond.
Thank you for the (quick) response. I'll give it a go! @@BillHartmanPT
would be great if the claims made in this video are attached with references
The same could be said about ostensibly every youtube channel making a claim about anything. We just had a great post about this exact topic (relying only on the peer reviewed research) on the UHP network. Have you jumped on there yet to check it out? You might really enjoy what we have going on there. Thanks for watching.
Again….
