I THINK (don't quote me) that the reason Hopes and Dreams is used is that it's intended to serve as a more general motif for Undertale pacifism. That in a hypothetical world where there's a million Undertale official games they'd be tied together in part by this theme, kinda how Megalovania isn't meant to represent sans but rather a more general idea that's common between Toby's projects.
yeah that makes a lot of sense actually. though again that specific motif is tied to ut specifically, so i didn't exactly think abt it the way i did with megalovania as just a repurposed track in toby's work historically speaking
THE ROBA The guitar replacing the scream went raw. You absolutely nailed this one. Ceroba's spirit scream with the Hopes and Dreams guitar riff got me so HYPED! Like I am going to fucking SAVE you!!! I will SAVE YOU SO HARD! Despite all your mistakes, you deserve SECOND and THIRD chances! You deserve LIFE! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
3:24 this part is so freaking cool- the guitar sounded like a replica of Ceroba's scream during the fight, but then it flows right back into the music and it is just really badass in general.
I think the use of the "Once Upon a Time" motif is used here to represent Determination. UTY makes some very intentional choices with coloring reflecting character traits (yellow is Justice, red is Determination, blue is Integrity (see genocide final boss), etc). To me, Once Upon a Time's motif represents the original Undertale, as well as the red soul in general. When the motif kicks in, Ceroba fully gives into her reckless desire to see Kanako again, even when she knows she's in the wrong. She stops holding back, and her determination takes over.
Hopes and Dreams isn't where the theme originates, it's Once Upon a Time - earlier in the soundtrack, the first song that appears is Once Upon a Truthful Time which contains this leitmotif and is how it's linked to this song
yeah i even mentioned that in the video, though i still correlate the motif to asriel since that's where it plays a bigger role in my eyes not trying to knock your point i'm just sharing my perspective
@@johntayjinf oops, didn't see that part! thanks for pointin' it out, as for it relating solely to Asriel... well, I don't think so? Asriel already has His Theme as a leitmotif dedicated only for him, along with Your Best Friend - I don't feel a third one adds to anything. Asriel is a central part of UNDERTALE, don't get me wrong, but it's still more than that. in my eyes, Once Upon a Time is the central theme of UNDERTALE that represents... well, UNDERTALE - it's the main theme of the game that is reinforced throughout the entirety of it. I'm positive this is, at least, how the UTY developers saw it.
Despite my utter lack of knowledge regarding UTY (aside from how heccin adorable Kanako is), I can always appreciate a good final boss theme. Great work as always! dadish 2 remix when /hj
to be completely honest ive been a fan of your for many years now and i dont see myself stopping that anytime soon, your work never ceases to amaze me whether that be covers/arrangements or originals, keep it up!!
Sorry for the odd comment, but I was just wondering what song plays during the "Spoiler Warning" section of the video? It sounds like something I'd hear playing in a pc-98 visual novel, I love it! Is there a download or purchase link as well? Wonderful work as always, excellent job! I hope you and your loved ones are having, and continue to have a fun, happy, healthy, and safe 2024! :)
ah, that's the pennant race theme from namachuukei 68! a x68000 baseball game by konami. the soundtrack is bonkers great even if it has so little to show ua-cam.com/video/ixC1yhJBo4c/v-deo.html as for downloads, here's the ost on khinsider downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/namachuukei-68-x68000 alternatively you can fetch yourself a vgm player and get vgm files through vgmrips vgmrips.net/packs/pack/namachuukei-68-sharp-x68000
Holy shit, this is making me want some Touhou stuff from you more and more (I'm thinking along the lines of Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly or Maiden's Illusionary Funeral - Who done it!). Or if not that, maybe you could give Battle Against a True Hero a look!
I played through Undertale Yellow recently. I think it's hard to a fault. Most later boss fights (especially the ones in the genocide route) are unfair in comparison to a traditional bullet hell game.
chipsets, as in sets of individual soundchips, usually paired say for example, the ym2612 and sn76489 of the sega mega drive are separate chips in the console that can be written as a set to describe the limitations/ console/ system
Is it just me or does it sound like the song keeps randomly lagging? Like once every measure or so there's a single beat that starts slightly late or something
oh yeah that's intentional on my end. adjusting clock speed is hard lol i always try to approximate the bpm to songs that i'm covering/ arranging by ear and sometimes the small changes i do with the clock speed will be noticeable reason why i even use clock speed changing instead of making it to be the actual bpm is because overclocking will result in problems for hardware testing

personally, i felt it was to show a sign of finality, this is the final phase, this is the final stretch, and the music is letting you know that.
@@pengun835I only realised she was the final boss when it played so it's surely part of it.
absolutely amazing as usual
The man the myth the legend is here, didn't know you knew bout this dude (: cool stuff

The Undertale motif part has such hype! You really did this theme... *Justice*
This song every time I hear it I start crying😭
How I would love to play this game again without knowing anything about it.
Great cover 👍
3:01 That Showdown lick is so satisfying

I feel like i recognise a few seconds of the very start of the song, IT SOUNDS SO FAMILIAT
Like specifically, 0:33 - 0:37 I FEEL LIKE IVE HEARD THAT SOMEWHERE
Nice!
For Chujin...
For Kanako...
For MONSTERKIND!
i am fucking speechless this is amazing
YEAHHHH
Nice OPM+PCMD8 cover!😄🤩😎👌

I can’t tell in the thumbnail if cheroba is pissed or shocked
oh hey its my own moms birthday today
nice
oh **damn**
Love the arrangement! I gotta ask what does the different 'chipsets' I think you called them mean?
chipsets, as in sets of individual soundchips, usually paired
say for example, the ym2612 and sn76489 of the sega mega drive are separate chips in the console that can be written as a set to describe the limitations/ console/ system
Please do Remedy ym2612 next.

Ah ok I see. Very cool cover regardless
Intro song name?
