Okay, the Annabeth and Tyson thing pisses me off more than it should. It's just, imagine a reason someone will never like you being something bad you did when you were thirteen. Do people not understand character growth, or trauma, or flaws. Yes, Annabeth 100% shouldn't have treated Tyson like that, but she was a child whose sister figure died because of cyclops and now her new best friend is basically being forced into hanging out with one. She admitted to being in the wrong and learned, and considering her age that should be completely acceptable.
Also let's not forget the at first whole camp (except Beckendorf) was being mean to Tyson including Percy who was not mean right in front Tyson but was embaresed and denied Tyson was his brother behind his back to other campers even though he was friends with him for a whole academic year by then . And still people blame only Annabeth a girl who has not only be extremely mentally scared by cyclopses but also accepted Tyson as a friend in the end and felt bad for treating him as an enemy at first once she realised that her judgment was wrong . Seriously people have you not heard of redemption? (No hate intended to those who don't like Annabeth)
exactly! There are multiple characters in this series I can name who people dislike because of how they act at the START of their development

I hate how Percy was nerfed in Hoo, it was if he was replaced by a child who barely new how to control his powers

My unpopular opinions: (or maybe it is popular just I haven’t met anyone who agrees):
1. Luke wasn’t a hero, but I don’t hate him and he was redeemed.
2. Bianca’s death was very sad for me. I don’t know why, but it’s never really the deaths that get to me, it’s the reactions of their loved ones.
3. I am a VERY HARDCORE SOLANGELO SHIPPER but it kinda came out of nowhere. Not that I don’t love it.
4. I don’t know why everyone hates Jason. I actually liked him a lot. But then Burning Maze came- anyways, he didn’t replace Grover as Percy’s best friend. Grover and Percy are and always will, be best friends. Jason and Percy are just slowly taking the B out of Bromance.
5. Piper’s one of my fave characters so stop coming at her.
6. Please don’t kill me... I don’t like Frank. He’s my least favorite out of the seven. I don’t know but I never really felt a strong cOnNeCtiOn, ya know? I never liked him. I mean I’m glad there’s an Asian as one of the main characters, me being Asian myself, but he came out of nowhere. Leo and Hazel’s fates were intertwined after the Sammy thing. Jason is Thalia’s sister. Percy and Annabeth are kinda obvious. Idk about Piper.
7. *puts up shields* I... (don’t kill me please don’t kill me) don’t like Frazel. One because I don’t like Frank. I think Hazel would’ve been better with Leo, honestly. Because of the whole Sammy thing, and Hazel is kinda quiet, but I think Leo would’ve brought her out of her “shell” I guess. And if not for Caleo, I would’ve shipped them 100%.
8. I love Leo. Team Leo 100%, I don’t care what anyone says, Leo is my little smol bean.
9. Lost Hero wasn’t bad, but Son of Neptune was kinda boring.
10. I don’t hate Rachel, but I don’t love her either.
11. I think one of the seven should’ve been single, cuz then I can relate to someone (me being my single Pringle self)
12. Annabeth isn’t abusive. I mean sure, if you look at it a certain way, she’s abusive. Maybe I’m too hard of a Percabeth shipper to think that way, but to me, percy’s been through much harder stuff than a punch. I think he can handle it.

Same, Piper McQueen’s one of my faves too.
Now that I think about it, yeah, Frank is probably my least favorite of the seven. I love Hazel, Percy, Leo, Annabeth and I think Jason and Piper are just fine.
as my personal opinion i think frank is fine but he is the character we get least backround story from i feel like i would like more of his story.

Luke wasn’t redeemed and wasn’t a hero.
Jason isn’t Roman Percy he isn’t at all like Percy from appearance to personality they are different.
The lost hero isn’t bad.
The son of Neptune is a little boring.
The Titans curse wasn’t as good as people think.

@@Leila-ni3xz I have a few reasons; she could have waited to join the hunters until she knew that the place Nico was going to go was safe and good for him. And she shouldn't have agreed to go on that quest with Zoe. She knew that someone was going to die. 2 someones in fact. She knew that picking up that Mythomagic figurine was going to cause something bad to happen, yet she still did it. She's selfish and shallow. And I really don't like her.

She ignores Nico trying to call out to her AND ONLY come s when percy is there (also talks to percy most of the time ) and she was like I am gonna choose rebirth instead of waiting for nico. Like your dead, time is not a deadline anymore. My whole problem with her was leaving nico even AFTER she died. She was fine when she was human.
When you said, “books from the perspective of the romans,” I just realized... Rick should make a book based off of OCTAVIAN’S perspective. Imagine how many less people would hate him. It would be so cool!
I didn't expect so many people to dislike Leo, I mean, all da ladies love Leo. Okey but, seriously, he's a great character (except for his relationship with Frank)(and I actually hate Caleo but anyways)
Idk for me he's still a great character (ignoring BoO, we better not talk about what happened there) maybe just because I identify a lot with him and his way of facing difficult situations and pain, you know

i loved him during the first book but then he started to be this kid who is just annoying. i still can't stand him after reading the first two books of the trials of apollo

I love solangalo and I think Nico and Will are really cute together but I do think it was really random at the end of blood of Olympus for them to just suddenly start dating. I think maybe they should have worked slower and get together during the tower of Nero. But in the end as long as Nico's happy, I'm happy
the way i look at it is that there was this whole 6 month period between boO and trials of apollo, and even in the beginning of the hidden oracle, they were kinda new to the whole "boyfriend" thing, idk, that's just my opinion

I think at the time of heroes of Olympus there weren’t many side characters that could die. The only reasonable character death.
In blood of Olympus were Thalia or Hylla. Reyna or nico at a stretch
Personally the deaths in Percy Jackson and the huge tragedies plural (luv u crest) in Trials of Apollo make up for Leo. Also Bob and dameson die I don’t think more deaths r needed

i think Leo should have stayed single, like don't get me wrong, I love Calypso ( even tho she doesn't have that much growth, but I love that in the end, was able to fall for Leo, even tho he wasn't a hero like Percy), and I do like that caleo is very cute, but they kinda felt forced, idk, this is just my opinion... also WHERE DID YOU GET THAT MUG PLZZZ I NEED IT!!!!!!!

Once on the percy jackson roblox I saw 3 people : a Nico cosplayer,a Will cosplayer and a "Athena kid" and the Athena kid was constantly trying to ruin their role play like "Nico you have to go on a quest and leave will behind"

When it comes to Leo’s personality, I definitely think that he should be a child of Hermes.
My unpopular opinion isn't really unpopular in the sense everyone's against it but in the sense I've not seen many people talk about it.
Ethan deserved a redemption arc more than Luke. Ethan was lied to and manipulated into joining the Titan Army and Luke was the one manipulating young children into joining him. The fact that Luke got "redeemed" but not one of his victims really doesn't sit right with me. I really wish Ethan had defeated Kronos and returned to camp as a hero. It also just hate how he died the second he got development, especially because he was my favorite.

-Bianca wasn't a bad sister, she was actually great. Even after joining the hunters of Artemis she was thinking about Nico, she even died just so she could get Nico the figure he'd been missing.
-Hating Rachel just because she gets in the way of Percabeth is really immature. Rachel is such a good character!!!
-I didn't like Piper and Jason's relationship. This might just be because I really wanted to see an aroace or queer child of Aphrodite but it's also because the whole 'fake relationship and oh noo Jason lost his memory!!' made me feel weird because I felt like Jason didn't actually like Piper, he just felt obligated to like her back.
-There was a missed opportunity to have an aro or aroace child of Aphrodite who struggled with internalized arophobia and has to accept and embrace that romantic love isn't the only option and that platonic love is just as important!!
-Making jokes about Nico's trauma isn't funny. Stop it. Him being outed isn't funny, stop making jokes about it.
-Nico SHOULD NOT have been outed by Eros. These books are about escapism so having a queer character be outed could cause people to relive their trauma and ruin the escapism for them.
adding more i thought of:
-Perachel isn't a bad ship, there's nothing wrong with it. They canonically had crushes on each other so you're not erasing their sexualities, they're the same age, they're not related, and their relationship isn't toxic or abusive.
-You can like a character but disagree with their actions. (this is abt Luke)
-Treating Nico as your "uwu goth gay cinnamon roll son!!" is weird and creepy. Stop fetishizing and babying queer people, it's not the allyship you think it is.
-Not an unpopular opnion or anything but I kept immediately getting attached to antagonists then it'd be revealed they were evil and I'd go "FUCK!" and go into denial for a while.
-I don't like Frazel. The fact that Frank is 16 and Hazel is 13 not only is a weird age gap considering they're kids but it also brings back some gross memories.
-I didn't like Annabeth at first. I thought she was just kinda rude to Percy despite the fact they were meant to be love interests??? She grew on me after Sea of Monsters though.
-People don't give Percy enough credit for everything he's been through. His step-father was AWFUL to him and I don't think we acknowledge how traumatic that must have been for him nearly as much as we should.

however, technically riordan flubbed up the ages and hazel is 14/90+ and frank is 16; technically they have a 2 or 90+ year age gap.
I agree with most of these, except for the thing about Nico being outed. Yes, I agree, it's horrible. It's the kind of trauma that most people don't really understand. But narratively speaking, it made the most sense. Nico likely would NEVER have come out if it weren't for that scene with Eros. I know in Blood of Olympus he said he would've come out "in his own time", but that's really vague. When would be his own time ? Would that time ever come ? The dude deals with some level of internalized homophobia after all. It makes sense that by saying this, he was trying to delay the inevitable, and likely a big part of him was still in denial about his crush on Percy. So Nico being outed was objectively not a good thing (don't do this in real life kids), but made the most sense for him specifically.

As somebody who watched the first Percy Jackson movie before reading the books, I have to agree with you. The movies would still be flawed, but at least they wouldn't be brought down by their connection to the books.

Leo's one of my favorite characters, but I have to admit to myself that if I knew him in real life, I would not be able to stand his guts, and it's a hard think to say about your favorite characters, but sometime's reality is harsh.
The reasons we wouldn't get along is because he's a flirt, and I'm an aromantic asexual who hates flirting with a passion. If he didn't flirt with me, we might be able to get along, but it would be a rocky friendship for sure.
I dunno why he's my favorite though, probably because I relate to him in every other way besides the aforementioned.
(This isn't really an unpopular opinion, but it has to do with the Leo stuff, so I thought I'd share.
I always assumed I disliked Percabeth as a ship, but now I'm rereading PJO and I'm on their side, even actively rooting for them? Now I realize that I projected my feelings towards Annabeth and Percy as characters in HoO towards the ship (and yes, I do agree they are flatter characters in HoO). I still think the ship is overrated, however. It's like you can't claim not to ship them in the fandom.
The general "too romance"-focused part of the HoO annoyed me in general, because of my general disinterest in romance, but I guess that's life lol

With annabeth hating Tyson she is completely valid not only because of what happens with Thalia but also because Tyson is one of the only “good” cyclops they are seen as monsters just like the other monsters in the books who are a threat to demigod like he literally can’t get into camphslf blood with out being invited because he’s a “monster”
11:03 the leo one. Lets talk. So of course me being a heavy leo stan im going to argue but i have a lot of evidence. I wouldn’t say he’s a bully, sure maybe he can be a little mean to frank sometimes like the time he said he needed to be thinner to fit into the hole, but he doesn’t mean to be rude. He just is trying to joke and i also need to point out a time in MOA when Frank was an asshole to leo for no reason. Leo was actually complimenting frank saying when he turns into a dragon its cool. Leo wanted to see more of frank being a dragon bc he found it cool so he said he should just do that every time. So then frank made his point using weights as an example, and leo responded with “oh. I wouldn’t know. I don’t lift weights.” Which was a perfectly innocent response. Then frank jumped in with a very unnecessary comment about how, “well maybe you should consider it, Mr-“ and got cut off by hazel. He was about to make fun of leo, so this is kind of an even argument between who is meaner to each other. And plus, then when hazel intercepted, she glared at leo instead of frank who had started to make a snarky comment. Leo technically didn’t do anything wrong or at least didn’t mean to. So theres my argument thank u all everyone has their opinions so pls dont attack me lol i love this fandom and everyone in it ok have a great day!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
And i am absolutely not trying to imply that i hate either frank or hazel bc i love them both. They are so wholesome and great characters and I definitely think both of them deserved better (their backstories and stuff) so just so yall know!!!!
Oh and another point about leo falling in love with every girl he meets…so i do think leo can go a little crazy with that but it is only bc he is lonely and really needs somebody. If you think about his backstory and all he’s been through, all he wants is someone to love. So anyway. Yeah. Love yall❤️

bty a not very unpopular opinion: I like Nico with Bianca more than Nico with Hazel. Not only because Nico was a baby(?!) with Bianca, but also cause Hazel is kind of a "Bianca 2.0" for Nico. He miss Bianca and wanted to bring her back to life even when she already died for 3 years, and when he already failed in the first time, but he only got a "sister" who he had never met. Even Hazel knows she could never be Nico's favorite sister.
(not saying that Hazel's bad, I like her too)
I agree with the "HoO focus on the Greeks". I read the Chinese books (I am a Taiwanese) and they called it "Heros of Camp Half-Blood" so when I knew it's English name I was like 🤨
AND the son of Neptune it said The son of The god of ocean and EVERYBODY knows it was Percy!!!!!
Unpopular opinion:
But Son of Neptune is my personal favorite book of the HoO series, and not just because of Percy's narration but also because of Frank's story and growth, the thing with Percy's amnesia and how it really showed his character that even though he could've used the gorgon blood to get his memories back, instead his first instinct was to help other people with it.
Hazel also really shines in the book, I loved every flashback scene about her life in the past, her meeting Pluto and just the overall story with her mom, it's so dark.
If Son of Neptune somehow miraculously gets adapted or just Heroes of Olympus in general with Walker Scobell as Percy, I think people might view it as probably the most interesting book because it has the cooler action sequences and the whole fighting Alcyoneus in Alaska part is awesome.
I dislike Bianca, because she ditches Nico, and yet Percy suffered for her death. It just makes me feel so bad for Nico

I disagree with Solangelo because it was very rushed. Yes, Nico should have been with someone, but the relationship shouldn't be rushed. I know it was six months after Blood of Olympus that the Trials of Apollo happened, but Rick should have shown more interactions between Nico and Will before he made them together. Also, something that really annoys me is when people say that Roman mythology is Greek mythology 2.0. This would mean the Greek mythology is Hindu mythology 2.0, but no one is commenting on that. The Greek gods are almost identical to Hindu gods, except Greek gods are crueler. I'm going to list some similarities for you:
Indra and Zeus: So this is the most obvious one. Indra and Zeus are almost identical. Zeus and Indra both have similar weapons (Zeus' lightning bolt and Vajra, Indra's lightning bolt). Next, they are both the ruling gods of their respective mythology (Zeus is King of Greek gods and Indra is King of Hindu gods). Also, both of their dwellings are mountains (Mount Olympus for Zeus, Mount Meru for Indra).
Karna and Achilles: They are also almost the same, but they mostly have similar armor that made them invincible. They were also both demigods (Achilles' mom was Thetis, a water nymph, and Karna's dad was Surya, the sun god). Lastly, both of their deaths ended wars (Achilles' death ended the Trojan War, and Karna's death ended the Kurukshetra War
).
The Ramayan and the Trojan War: These wars were both fought for beautiful women, and they are both *massive* stories in their respective mythology (Trojan War for Greeks, the Ramayan for Hindus)
Gods for everything: Just like Hindus, Greeks have gods for literally *everything*. Such as a god of wealth (Plutus for Greeks and Lakshmi for Hindus), god of the underworld (Hades for Greeks and Yama for Hindus), and god of architecture (Hestia for the Greeks and Vishwakarma for Hindus).
Yama and Hades: For them, I struggled to find the words to explain them. The simplest way I can put it is that they are *not* evil. Western religion links them to Hell, making them automatically evil. NO. They aren't evil. They just do their duties as to assigning a person's soul to Heaven or Hell.
Saptarishis and the Seven sisters: These are both clusters of stars in space. The Saptharishis are the seven bright stars that can control even the Sun, while the Seven Sisters (the Pleiades) are also a cluster of stars.
Sampati and Icarus: Icarus flew too close to the sun, which I'm sure everyone knows. However, the story of Jatayu and Sampati is not as well known. One day when they were flying high in the sky, Jatayu went too close to the sun, so Sampati, in order to save Jatayu, went after him. Although he did save Jatayu, but in the process, his own wings got burnt because of the heat of the sun and he fell straight to the ground just like Icarus.

Something else that really annoys me is how Rick portrays Ares as a bad guy and Poseidon as a good guy. Ares was a good guy because he kills his daughter's rapist despite the ramifications
, he saved Thanatos, and he has a lot of stories of him showing respect to women warriors. Even though he cheated with Aphrodite, Aphrodite didn't even want to marry Hephaestus. Poseidon, on the other hand, fricking *raped* Medusa in Athena's temple (which Athena wrongly punishes Medusa for). Also, Hades is *not* a bad god. In the actual myths, Hades was a lot nicer than Zeus and Poseidon.
Another thing that I know a lot of people won't agree with me on is that Percabeth is abusive. First of all, in the Titan's Curse, she punched Percy in the gut when he asked who to dance with. I know that she probably didn't hurt him, but it's still abusive. A lot of people are saying that it's fine because she's a girl. THAT DOESN'T EXCUSE ABUSE. If you switch the genders, then it would be called out. Imagine a girl and a boy walking into a dance. The girl asks who she should dance with. The boy punches the girl in the gut and says to dance with him. So then it should be called out that Annabeth abused Percy. Also, when that happened, Percabeth was not together. They weren't dating or anything, so...yeah. It was abusive. It would have been more understandable (not acceptable) if they were dating, but they *were not*. Another thing is in Mark of Athena, Annabeth judo-flips Percy when they reunite. I get that Annabeth wasn't stable without Percy, but that doesn't excuse her *judo-flipping* Percy. It wasn't his fault that he left. Lastly, Annabeth's name for Percy. Sea-weed brain is insulting Percy, but Wise Girl is complementing Annabeth. Annabeth's name for Percy should be complementing Percy too.
Percy is a Gary Stu (male version of Mary Sue). This one, I just have a lot of feelings about. First of all, why in the (cue censored words) world are so many people attracted to him!?? Annabeth, Rachel, Nico, Reyna, Calypso, and even Hazel were attracted to Percy (Hazel at least thought that she was supposed to be since he is a descendent of Poseidon). Second of all, who in the (cue censored words) world defeats a (cue censored words) minitour, defeat Clarisse La Rue (a *powerful expert fighter*), survive a combat fight with Luke Castellan (the best sword-fighter at camp), use powers he doesn't even know he has, returns Zeus' lightning bolt, and defeat the (cue censored words) god of war at age *twelve*. It's so unrealistic! And also the fact that Jason and Percy have the same level of powers. That would be impossible given the fact that Jason has been training for 10 years more than Percy. Also, Percy is *not* an all-year-around camper, meaning he has trained for less than five years. Third, "perfect" looks. I know this is an opinion, but Percy isn't that attractive (again, only my opinion, not a fact). I think it was Reyna that said Percy looked like a literal *god*. Fourthly, he has no flaws. Yes, loyalty is Percy's fatal flaw, but it's something that makes Percy look good. A flaw should do the opposite and make you look bad. Saying that loyalty is his flaw is like saying someone's flaw is generosity.
Hazel and Nico are the most powerful and dangerous demigods. Hazel is the most powerful because of her mist powers and her diamonds, while Nico is the most dangerous because he can (cue censored words) kill you with a snap of his finger.
Leo is smarter than Annabeth: FIrst off, Leo could do college math at age *SIX* faster than most adults. Also, Leo is an engineer/mechanic. That takes an incredible amount of smarts and creativity, a combination that not many people have. Lastly, Leo doesn't just make machines when the situation calls for it. He analyzes the situation, comes up with a clever plan, turns the plan into something physical he can build, builds it in less than a minute, then the plan works perfectly (most of the time).
Rick is racist/biphobic. First of all, he gives one of the only black female witchery skills. For those of you who don't know, black females have been accused of witchery for just being black. Second of all, Piper shouldn't have worn the feather in her hair. If she wore it, it needed to have been given to her by the leader of her tribe. It would have also not been in her hair, but on her wardrobe, because it could fall out of her hair. If it fell out of her hair and landed on the ground, that would be VERY disrespectful. Thirdly, he described Drew and Ethan as being "Asian". I get that to most people, this would mean Chinese, but Asian could mean a lot of different things. It could mean Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, or Russian (and some other races from countries in Asia). Fourth, both Drew and Ethan were antagonists. Rick is sexist. If you look at the series, who are the most powerful demigods (where their power is mostly used)? Jason, Percy, Leo, Nico, and Frank. All *men*. Annabeth and Piper don't really even have powers. Annabeth is super smart and Piper pretty-talks. Hazel is *extremely* powerful, and her powers aren't extended on. Also, to combine the point above, who are the two most powerful demigods in the seven? Percy and Jason. Two white straight males.

I totally agree with how greek and hindu mythology are very similar and I think that is mainly because in the ancient days there was frequent trade between India and Greece which let to a lot of interaction between the 2 cultures.
Also just pointing out Karna's death was a huge loss in the Kaurava army but Duriodhana's death was what finally ended the war (Ashwathama revenging the panadvas by trying to kill them at the night during their sleep but instead mistaking their children as the pandavs and murdering them was after the war so not taking that into account)
The book is unrealistic because it is a fictional series and 99% of fictional series are unrealistic

The lead character in ToA is a bisexual so Rick can't be Biphobic and he has lesbian representation in Toa just Reyna isn't the person who represents it . Piper is revealed bi at the end of Toa and she is dating a girl Rick might have said that Reyna is not bi because she joins the hunt meaning she is an asexual . Rick also made Frank an Chinese so he is not hating them plus Ethan did do the right thing in the end . Sadie kane has white skin like her mother even though her father is dark skined and Sadie is a powerful magician so Rick is not making only dark skinned characters magicians . Also he describes hecate as white skinned .
Rick literally said in the books Annabeth was the leader of the Argo 2 although there was no official leader of the quest also she accomplished a mission that none of her siblings could in thousands of years . Piper defeated a goddess and 2 immortal warriors all by herself with just her voice dagger and quick thinking . Hazel is one of the most powerful sorceress . And with annabeth no having any special powers and the other girls having powers not as great as the boys (before hazel learnt to bend the mist) just shows that they are strong as they are and do not need any special powers for them to be strong . So I don't think Rick is sexist

For the Romans HOO one, here is my fight- back to your fight-back.
Okay, I agree it would be better to have *some* more Roman in the HoO. More books like the demi-god diaries and such for Camp Jupiter. But, at the same time, Percy Jackson and the Olympians was focused on Greek Mythology because of the plot. The plot only required Greek beliefs. Untill the Last Olympian, they had no clue the Romans existed. Then, in the Lost Hero, we learn they do. So the prophecy requires *both* sides. Both mythologies. Rick Riordan could not only focus on Camp Jupiter because the plot requires them working together. Yeah, there is my opion.
