Big shout out to 20th Century Studios for making this movie!
I gotta say, this is now one of my favourite Angelica Huston flicks.😍
All that was missing is the glorious tearjerking tune, "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes"... 😢
Just realized after all these years the joke “divorce something they do in England” was about Henry VIII and anne boleyn, so funny
Nice one ✨
I’m so happy to come across your reaction for this. This is, hands down, my favourite film version of the Cinderella story. I end up rewatching it every couple of years or so. I love how they so thoroughly rethought how to tell the tale in a way that made sense as a supposed historical source for the tale, having removed the magical elements. And that they enter so fully into the characterizations exploring the motivations/informing circumstances behind each of the principal character’s personality and story arc.
Particularly Baroness de Ghent, developing a resentment for Danielle being the one her father thinks of and addresses at his end.
And, yes. Angelica Houston is absolutely brilliant in this role, both dramatically and with the infused comedic elements played so expertly through her facial expressions.
Thank you for your great reaction.
(I’ve liked and subscribed now.)
@@lyndonjames8607 aawww thank you. Glad you liked. 😄 And yes i agree on everything you mentioned! Angelica all the way! 🎬✨⭐️
This ist favorite Cinderella story by far. I like that Danielle fights back.
@@bgb411 me too! ✨☀️👸🏽
This is the only Cinderella story I've ever seen where the girl and the prince actually have a relationship and get to know each other. Usually, they meet at the ball and are instantly in love. In this version, I actually buy that the couple falls in love. The prince is hugely improved and grows because of her influence.
So true! You get to see their love blossum. Love it.
I always thought the Ever after version was the best Adaptation of Cinderella story of all time.
I honestly think the same. It has everything. Especially heart.
_Ever After_ is not a fairy tale movie, or a Cinderella adaptation. It's some random historical drama movie with Cinderella elements in it. What fucking Cinderella is this? Sword fighting, punching in the face, lying to the prince. This isn't Cinderella. And look at those rugged, horrid, drab visuals and scenery. It's so visually lame.
Great reaction video btw!
Thank you!! 😁👍
In case you missed it, the two men who were told this story were the Brothers Grimm. In their version of Cinderella the slipper was made of gold, while in other versions it was made of fur or glass. Honestly Margarite got off so easy, if this was the Grimm version she would have lost a toe or a heal then blinded by birds.
Oh wow! A darker version 😬 💀
This is my favorite Cinderella adaptation. I love Danielle and Henry and how human they both are in their reactions to their scenarios. Though this movie, while I love it, does hit 2 pretty big pet peeves of mine. 1- It's set in France but everyone has English accents, even people who don't have those accents in real life. 2-"My father was an expert swordsman, sir. He taught me well." That sort of came out of nowhere and just seemed like they just threw it in there so she could rescue herself, but there were literally no seeds planted for it. If they were gonna go that route, we should have seen some swordfighting - or at least some training - earlier in the movie. But her father, who supposedly taught her swordfighting, died when she was 8 and it doesn't seem like she's had much time to practice so she'd be rusty as heck if he had taught his 8 year old daughter to sword fight.
That said, I've just kinda accepted the head canon that she was bluffing.
Agree on the english speaking bit haha. But its as you said, ive just accepted it as well for what it is. lol
So glad I found this review 😂 the reaction to Marguerite was top tier 🥹🫢❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@polynesianbloodline haha glad you like! 😂
I love this film! This is also one of Drew’s favorite films she ever did.
I laugh every time at the Queen’s reaction to the stepsister flipping out 😂
I also really love Jacqueline.
Drew will always leave me stunned at the ball. She was absolutely beautiful! 🦋 👑
I agree! ✨😁
😭❤ one of my childhood fav
Ohh it's def a fave for me now as well. hehe
I rewatched this movie the other day. Ever After is in my top 3 of Cinderella adaptations. I love this movie so much.
I absolutely loved it too. Cheers ✨✌🏼
@@mozyflicks love your channel.
Your reaction was delightful!! Suggestion to grow your channel: Many people commenting on other movie reaction channels say they won't watch any "short" reactions. This particular one was a good length, but I see other of your videos are in the about 20 minutes range, which most people don't like because they feel too much of the movie is left out, making for a very choppy, disjointed reaction. Even if you have to cut down on how much you show of a film due to copyright issues, if you can perhaps blur some parts and keep the audio while still offering all your excellent commentary, or use shorter clips but add your own thoughts about the plot, acting, etc., I think your very charming personality will draw more subscribers to your channel!! Good luck!!
Aww thank you! Really appreciate this. 👍✨😄
My school had movie day in 3rd grade, I can’t remember what the “boy” option was but I opted for this one despite not having a clue what it was about (and needing to get parent permission to see it since it’s PG-13 lol) and I ended up loving it. It’s my personal favorite Cinderella story. I love a good period piece and while maybe not to some folks’ taste since it doesn’t have magic and isn’t as colorful, I like how this one feels like it could have happened.
I agree! I absolutely love the fact that its not colourful, and without magic, it is very grounded and believeable. Cheers ✌🏼✨
“The point, gentlemen, is that she *lived* “ as they said. A grounded story feels very refreshing amongst the many magical stories. A change of pace.
I've always kept amd rewatch this movie as my Dad bought DVD for me when I was a kid.
It is a treasure ✨
Two of the things that made me love Dougray Scott's performance: His little wave to the Gypsys as Danielle carries him away, & his intonation on "To a BELGIAN?!" as if her "engagement" being to a Belgian somehow made it worse. I laugh so hard at those moments every time I watch this.
Yeh i gotta say, he plays pretty well here. I did enjoy his performance.
Welcome back, man! I hope your trip was fabulous! BTW, we here in the US don't want the
mother and daughter either! However, they can send Danielle and the Prince anytime! 😆😆🥰🥰
Haha! 🤣👍✨ i come back two weeks later sorry. I scheduled this video.
Loved this movie 😊also like the Cinderella movie it has Cate blanchet as the step mother and Helen Bonham carter recommend it 😊
Thank you! I’ll add that one to the list as well.
I think this will always be my favorite Cinderella adaptation. Most of the others are just a little a little too over the top with the stepmother, and the Cinderellas are too sugary. Thank you for sharing your reaction.
Glad you like 👍✨🎞️📽️😁
_Cinderella_ (2015) is the best Cinderella adaptation.
Loved this review as well as the movie.
Aww thank you! 👍✨
extra to last post. Just heard the Cinderlla ball gown properly known as the Just breathe dress was sold at a private auction which is really sad. it had been displayed multiple times (still looks good to this day) photo documentation of this dress it even had a special corset for a nice shape as well as a mechanism to insert the wings. it was heart breaking to hear that it was sold after so long. Hopefully the new owner of the gown will loan it for future viewing shows otherwise it's just going to probably be boxed somewhere for private eyes.
Hopefully, the new owner has respect for the dress and keeps it as it was meant to be instead of what some have done lately.
This film has marvelous history although some of the time-frames maybe have been a little itch as well as costume era it's still a great film and I love it. especially Anjelica playing a b*tch and looking great doing it. It saved Drew Barrymore's image it did something but Here's a fun Historical fun fact. So they wanted to make this a realistic this could of happened yet still fiction fantasy film. The brothers grim who met with Danielle's great great granddaughter actually happened somewhat. So it's never mentioned who the old queen is well from researching the old woman who has the glass slipper now is Marie Antoinette's daughter, Marie theresa! least when I did my research it was a perfect match.and Marie would of been an older woman around the time Griim brothers tales of cinderella popped if Im remembering my notes lol! I am so glad you loved the film If you're looking for another like this. There's another film Called "Snow white: A tale of Terror" from 1997 and Segourney Weaver from Alien is the Evil Queen in this one.
Thank you for the fun fact! That’s pretty cool. I was wondering who that old lady was exactly. And ill def add Snow White to the list! 👍✨🎞️
Leonardo da Vinci did move to France at the end of his life. He gifted the Mona Lisa to France which is why it’s in the Louvre today :)
I actually felt bad for the stepmother a bit in this one, at least at the start. She's already been windowed one, remarried and moved faraway with her children only to be widowed again, that's rough.
I mean it doesn't justify her behaviour after that, but still 😅
Damn, never thought of it that way. You’re right that is tough. That and being ordered to washing your face 20 times a day would be a pain. 😅😂
They give her a few moments of humanity that make her feel complex and real, rather than a simple villain. At the very beginning with her new husband. But mostly the conversation between her and Danielle in the middle. When Danielle asks if she loved her father, you see her hesitate enough to make her downplay feel like a lie. Anjelica Huston does so much with the little tones in her voice.
I literally cannot watch the ball scene because it gives me physical pain.
I know right. The way the stepmother just breaks one of her wings kills me.
Helena Bonham carter is fab in it aswell
Wait.... she's in the movie?! Where?? I love that actress.
When you have a chance, could you please react to Lady Jane from about 1986, with Helena Bonham Carter and Cary Elwes?
Sure thing, added to the list 👍✨
@@mozyflicks thank you
Easter Egg: When Danielle climbs down from the tree while Henry squares off with the gypsies, she goes right for the swords. Sort of giving context beforehand when she threatens Whatshisface later in the story. (though that kind of bugs me, she says her father taught her well, but he died when she was eight. Even if he started when she was five, that'd only be three years experience. And I doubt she spent any sort of time practicing with.....ANYONE in the house....and anyway who gives a sword to a five year old? And when did he even have time, since he was gone on sll those trade trips?
@@sianne79 hhmmm, 🤔 my only thought on that is it was a different time and era? 🤷🏻♂️ Teaching kids how to use a sword was the norm perhaps haha. And maybe she trained with Gustave? 😂
@@mozyflicks That is a point....maybe it was father/daughter bonding time, because I doubt (time and era) he would teach her domestic stuff her mother probably would have...sewing, embroidery, playing an instrument or whatever it was that Italian Renaissance upper middle/lower upper-class women did with their spare time. They had a full staff....at least for a little while. But anyway, who cares, sword fights are awesome and I feel cheated out of seeing her square off with Richard O'Brian
@@sianne79 haha agreed. I wouldve liked to have seen her go at it with him.
Title: Absolutely
👍✨ hehe
This is my childhood Cinderella! Not Disney
Love it! 💙✨
This isn't a fairy tale movie. It's dumb, and they had to turn the Cinderella character into a fucking liar just to get her to spend time with the prince.
I'm glad you made this reaction longer cuz I absolutely love your reactions you crack me up you make my day better whenever I watch your reactions so Thanks again for making your video longer And this is 1 of my favoriteCinderella movie's.
Aawww glad i have that effect hehe cheers 👍✨
Yes keep the longer reactions coming oh and another one I'd like you to react to is my favorite is "The Unnamable" a horror favorite I hope you watch it soon cuz I haven't found anybody who has done a reaction to it and its a cult classic.
Oooo! Ok, its added to the list 👍✌🏼✨
Best? Maybe not since the horror film Cinderella's Revenge which is coming out might take your number one spot!
Oooo god, a horror cinderella movie?!?! 😰😱😭
