    Thanks Jimmy for your reply. I have been slot racing since the 60's. My Dad and I started with the Monogram midgets, (which I have today). In the 80's through present, have been building our own tracks, (ovals). Scratch building 1/25, 1/24 cars of the 40's through the 60's. Live in Wisconsin, home of the short tracks. I like to see how others build their tracks and scenery. Thanks

    I can’t get over the realism that you’ve created with this layout. I have my layout setup and now I’m ready to start making it look somewhat realistic. I’ll never rival yours but hopefully I can make it look nice. Are the stationary cars scattered around the track actual slot cars or are they scale die cast cars? Also I’m wrestling with how to create my grass. Toying with the idea of using sawdust and paint for the basic grass footprint. Thank you for all the ideas and willingness to help others.

    • @jimmyattard1446
      @jimmyattard1446 Рік тому +2

      Thanks for your nice comments Cab! For scenery with grass I use Modge Podge brushed onto the raw scenery surface. Then sprinkle sawdust on it heavily to great low and high spots. After it dries paint with green and use dark tan in low spots. Sprinkle Woodland Scenic grass over it while the paint is still wet. Dark green in low spots, med green most places and burnt grass where high spots keep the turf dry. Then sprinkle fine gravel in spots grass probably can't grow like around buildings and track edges. When dry spritz water with a few drops of dish soap in it and then, using an eye dropper, evenly drip a mix of 50/50 water and white glue with a few drops of dish soap in it. I do this gluing 3 times after waiting a day or more for each coat to dry. I hope this helps my friend. See more 1/32 slot racing and tracks by subscribing to the Lunch King channel. Just the track layout itself is very extensive. I'm thinking it was probably built in sections over a number of years. Was it, & how long before the existing layout was complete? The details in the scenery that the video shows is fantastic & realistically detailed. I notice the lanes use copper tape to provide power to the cars. Has this been problematic or require extra maintenance?

    • @jimmyattard1446
      @jimmyattard1446 Рік тому

      Thanks for commenting Bill. You can find answers to most of your questions in documentary about the track in one or more of the other videos on the Lunch King channel. The copper tape is less expensive than beaded line and works great on indoor tracks. See more 1/32 slot racing and tracks by subscribing to the Lunch King channel. Very cool set up your paint booth is that home made and if so I would some more information on it and what paint do you use would it be good for lacquer paint thank you

    • @jimmyattard1446
      @jimmyattard1446 2 роки тому +1

      Yes the paint booth is home made Jamie. It uses a blower motor and squirm cage fan I bought at Grangers Supply. I added a furnace filter to pick up the paint but it still coats the fan a bit do in 30 years I had to clean out the fan about 3 times. Lacquer paints are very volatile so I only shoot a bit at a time because the fumes do go by the motor brushes and I've always feared it my ignite. But so far so good my friend. I talk a bit about it and paints I use in the first documentary on LK. Go back and forward our videos to more of your friends because the guys plan to do more in the future.

    • @jimmyattard1446
      @jimmyattard1446 2 роки тому +1

      Well Gene I loved racing and had a few real track sections in mind to recreate like the Daytona banking, tunnel in Detroit, the corkscrew turn at Laguna Deca, etc. So I started sketching with those in mind. I had put together a scrap book with info from magazines in the 60's showing how to route and tape a track. And off I went...winging it most of the way Gene!
