I haven’t gone to the store since Christmas, and today is January 9. I made chili yesterday and we are having chili dogs tonight with home fries. I didn’t have any buns, and my husband said go buy some, give yourself a break. Nope I made homemade hotdog buns, and a few hamburger buns for later. Great work everyone, and thank you for a great week recap. I have been keeping a daily food log, of what we have eaten each meal, my cooking and baking etc.
My family has always put peanut butter and maple syrup in our pancakes and waffles! It is good! Tonight I made corn bread to go with my freeze dried chili. It was my first attempt at rehydrating it. It was amazing!! I've done a lot of freeze drying but not really using it much, so this challenge is a good thing for me!
My goal is to spend the least amount possible on groceries. This week I spent 12.00 at Aldi's for Spaghetti squash and lunchmeat. I was pleased with that. Another goal is to use my oldest meats from the freezer and as many partial packages as possible. There are only two of us here.
I’m doing a challenge and was wanting to spend $20 a week. Well that hasn’t gone quite as planned. Sent my husband out last Sunday he grabbed a few things we needed, but we were out of dog and cat food so that trip was $71 🥺 we do all meals and coffee from home but thinking my budget will be 200 for the month with prices the way we are.
Hi! Try 25 for january and then maybe more in february. I/we do the same challenge every year and have for many years. I don´t eat out at all, we eat in season, local, loads of veggies, cook from scratch and we are two in our family. I am eating strictly vegetarian and my partner eat meat. Both work from home most days and my partner goes out and eat lunch with his collegues sometimes. His lunches are not in our budget during this challenge. We try our best to eat out of our pantry, fridge and freezer the first 100 days of the year. I have set aside about 20 dollar/week for ingredience we might need, some fresh fruit and veggies aso. We don´t drink milk so that is not a cost for us. We live in Sweden, some food are lower in price here and some are higher.
When I was a young kid I did do the butter n syrup on pancakes/waffles. Then when we had some apple butter I switched to not eating them with butter. I then found out I didn’t like butter on them because they were too oily for me. I decided to try with peanut butter. Then during college I’d eat at my spirit sisters house they put fruit on their pancakes. This past year I finally found out why they put fruit on pancakes and why their pancakes were super thin. For them it’s a cultural tradition.
Very interesting! It's also interesting how our preferences change over time. I've never tried apple butter! I might have to give that one a shot next fall when I make apple butter.
Thanks for the organizing motivation. It always takes me so long but feels quite satisfying to get everything organized.

That is amazing! You are a rock star!
Love following along with your pantry challenge! It’s inspiring to see how you’re making the most of what you have.
That's what I love about watching everyone else's pantry challenge videos too.
Hope your dad recovers quickly. Thank you for your content.! Glad you are doing the challenge.
Thanks for the well wishes!
Thanks for sharing! 😊

I'm working on being more consistent about going to my freeze dried stash too.

Yes! Those older meat cuts can hide in the fridge like a wallflower at a middle school dance.
That's great! Aldi's is my go to place for all my dairy and snacks for my grandson 😀

I feel your pain! The prices are crazy!
One would think I'd be used to prices by now...nope...I get sticker shocked Every Single Time 😳

I would keep the other $25 a week aside In case you come across a really good meat sale.

Honestly if your eating out about 3 times a week you should try surviving on the 25 a week
I agree 😊
