Great vid! I've had my KLX150 for 3 years, it's only got 5,000 k on it, but every one's been fun. I added a tooth
to the front sprocket so it handles short highway runs to the forest a bit easier.
The way I see it, as long as it still has a short enough first gear, then I'll save a few revs at high speed.
Which it does. Some people have gone for better road tyres and used em for commuting, I can see why.
Comfortable, with a lower ride height than many trail bikes, which is good for that.
Let alone way better and safer than scooters, for not much more cost.

My dad bought one for himself and my brother to ride but they never use it so i have been riding it to work everyday, its only just under 10 minutes away to get to work and since i been riding the klx my mt09 hasnt left the garage even with just 12hp its such a fun bike to ride i cant help myself riding through parks and dirt trails where ever i see.
My mt09 will feel like a missile when i get back on it.
I think they put not even 250km on the klx it its up to 1125km after a month or so of me commuting and offroading.

Good it's being used. I like that they have a carburettor too, not injected. My first ever job commute was by dirt bike. An old PE250 2 stroke kick start. Age 16.
If I worked now (40 years later), I'd use it most of the time and leave the V8 car at home. It would be easier than the one I rode back then! My ex girlfriend & I once rode all day to only do 170km on dirt roads. Both on 150's. A bit loaded with gear. We stayed in a cabin then rode back 2 days later. Felt like a mission on the little 150's. They were great fun and so easy to pickup when hers fell over on sand.

I'm middle aged now and really would love a bike again. Only ridden off road bikes in my youth though so while I was looking at a 650cc originally to get my licence on the fact is such bikes might be too heavy for me to handle off road and my knees aint the best these days. So I am now thinking of this bike or the KLX250 as both will do what I want while being a lot easier to handle off road. The only real advantage the big 650 trail bikes have is open road useability and while touring is what I would love to do spending a few years on a smaller bike will be far safer and prob more enjoyable. You looked like you had a blast on this and you can't go much faster off road no matter what bike you have right? So light and easy to handle wins I guess.

I am looking to start a little off road riding such as forest roads etc. I also want it to be light enough to carry on the back of my motorhome and so need to keep the weight below around 140kg. My weight is around 90kg and I am 185cm, would the 150 work for me do you think? Another option could be the XT250 that I believe you have also owned. I currently have a KTM 390 Adventure but this is a bit heavy for the motorhome, it also feels like it will be a bit heavy for me to learn off road riding. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello Warro. Just to share couple of things with you regarding KLX 150 BF. Your review and findings were spot on, so last month I also bought one same as yours and I love it. I changed the spark plug with an Iridium NGK CR7HIX and I dare say it made an improvement in terms of better response. And I was using 95 fuel , but at the workshop mechanic suggested to use 91 instead, for better performance ! Rightly so , I tries 91 and I must say it did do better as much as doing 110 ks per hr and I didn't want to push any faster ! But this engine hates the slightest overfill of oil , I topped up the oil but a little over the limit , but boy oh boy it hated it, gears got very hard to change going in to natural was totally stiff , I dumped out some oil and all came good again.Going off road is easy on this bike , with it's light weight and good usable power it is fun. Would like to hear if you have done anything to your KLX for improvements .

Hey Warro, Still following your adventures, even when it's not on a CT125! LOL. The most fun bike I ever owned was the Honda XL125 back in the 70s. I wish they still made them, and this bike is close enough in size to be a lot like that, but unfortunately, we don't have anything smaller than a 250cc sold in the US anymore since Yamaha dropped the WR200. Sure wish they still made an offroad 125 (with a real clutch and a vertical engine, which puts out more power for some reason than a 125 horizontal engine), but I'd be happy if I could get your 150 here in the US. Still looking for my next bike. I might have to buy a used WR200 or look for an old XL125 for sale. I did break down and buy this cool toy for my CT125. Have you looked at all the features? ua-cam.com/video/VIKn3g5-mrE/v-deo.html

      @ridewithwarro  3 роки тому +1

just checked it out and it looks rather cool. nice pick-up. pity the klx150 isnt your way as i am sure you'd be impressed with the ride-just having a clutch makes a huge difference plus 25cc on top makes a huge difference in holding speed.
you know lots about dirt road/bikes and this was more an entry for me. not long ago i would not even ride on a dirt road.
have you thought about a new honda crf300l?
its not that much heavier that the 125 but i think now quoted at 27hp
i am seriously thinking about one of those. not here yet. i think to do serious off-road rides a clutch is a must plus good ground clearance.150 has both.
yesterday i rode both bikes on a 20 mile loop. the 150 feels like its an actual all-round dirt road bike which could run almost anywhere within reason and then crossed over to the 125...not so! i rode it 2 miles and returned home
first time ever i've jumped from one to the other on an off road style bike and end results -there was is a huge difference. not even small ....huge!
i always said the ct was down on power plus high in price. here both bikes are split by $3000 and this is by far the best value bike and it actually performs well in stock trim.
