Same here. Such an obvious and genius at the same time trick. After couple of tries after struggling and 'fair' defeat of Shiva I had the feeling that here is suppose to be some cheese trick.

That's the kind of cheese tactics I was looking for, thanks. He deserves being cheesed because his attack telegraphs are SO confusing, only the last few milliseconds are relevant. Shiva was bad already but Ifrit is really unbearable for an aging guy like me with less reflexes than I used to have

Key point it's to pause just in the moment his arm is far enough to see clear where the hit will go... and with 2 hands quick quit pause and move stick... It's similar to some piano themes, you only can achieve S or A if one friend play with one stick lol
His rage punches are always the same 4 attacks but different each time as you progress

Yeh this at least reminded me to pause, which I wish I’d done for Shiva. I would say the difference between right hook and uppercut is the trickiest.

I literally just did this and went to the internet to comment my finding only to find out yall figured out the same thing using pause to figure out which way to dodge then unpause and dodge

I had to stop playing this minigame. For some reason, my left analog stick to dodge, Cloud doesn't move. I exited out of the minigame to see if my stick was messing up and it's not. It works just fine for everything, but this.
i hope you do the last 2, they are locked behind a side quest thats locked behind beating all other side quests first.
The 4th, party animal was easy. Didn’t think to do that video. Sephiroth one I haven’t done it, really hard. Thought I’d complete the game and revisit.

Some of their attacks are just too similar looking. It’s legit hard to tell sometimes even when pausing what the heck they are doing.
