That’s such a great vid . Honest and lots of information . SO many couldn’t fix all those issues that you have and neither should they have to . Sounds like it’s where you want it now 👍
Happy travels, you hit the nail on the head, you bought a budget van, spent a bit of money to bring it up to scratch and now you happy with it. Good on you, totally enjoyed your honest review. Enjoyed it that much I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more vids. 👌
Thanks mate its just our journey with the snowy river hopefully now that iv fixed alot of stuff properly we shouldn’t have to many dramas loving the van again so thats a great thing!!
Just looked at the 22S at Green RV today and as far as looking goes it was a first class experience. We're total newbies so any help is awesome 👌 thanks for this video and it appears the service centre is really letting the sales team down.
Yeah mate don’t be put off buying a snowy though as long as you don’t mind fixing a couple things yourself to make it stronger and last longer the snowy owner group on facebook is great as well
Your persistence has got you through this - I’m in my senior years and from experience have learnt that most people in the motoring/caravan/4WD industries are cowboys and bogans with no idea or care about their product or service being symptoms of our poor education system and inbreeding - for this reason I only buy Japanese not anything Australian - fortunately the remaining 20 percent of the population are competent intelligent caring folk that I can trust and rely on - do your research and due diligence before you commit to anything.
Great review, after experiencing a year at a motorbody shop I have to say Its Russian roulette, the experience, skill levels producing the caravans varies massively, top trades men to apprentices ,absolute bodgers on minimum wage, lottery,I'll keep to the Oztent and nice hotels😂
@@bobmaxwell9572it’s embarrassing Bob that this happens because unfortunately these cowboys are only thinking of their weekend barbecues or nightly visits to the local with no interest in what their doing or why certain standards should be met in construction - I worked in the aviation industry with a zero tolerance to poor workmanship otherwise you’re putting the lives of people ‘up there’ and on the ground at risk - my sister recently had to go through an insurance fix up when idiots decided to fit a rectangle door to an oval shaped opening on her motorhome - fortunately the insurance company covered the whole A$65k+ costs and this time done by actual professionals.
Good vid. We have a Snowy and I will agree with you that the dealers (ours was Auswide Nowra) have no aftersales service. We will never go back to them. However, the warranty team do an excellent job and have always come to the party for us. Other than a replacement axel our issues have been minor. There are a lot of brands out there much much worse and we love our Snowy.
Hey guys - thanks for a great vid. Now a year later in hindsight do you still think the SRC is a decent buy? We have just sold our motorhome and are looking seriously at the SRT19. It is just the two of us. Appreciate your comments. Is there anything else out there you think we should consider at about the 80-90k mark. Cheers.
We are awaiting a SRC21 and prepared for some problems just like any van I suppose I’m more looking forward to doing all the upgrades required like screws in cupboards etc haha . Full time come this October
What made you not go to a SRT series van being you do so much off-roading? Love your info and general review. The snowy page is awesome aswell there’s no I hate this brand type of vibe there like there is with the other brands.
It wasnt released when we got our van it came out about a year later i still preferred our van over the srt though better brands and quality products we added
Yeah mate we prices up a couple of off-road vans and came up with prices around 100k but they still didn’t have the “off-grid” setup so snowy was a good fit for us so we could fit it all out
How much was all the upgrades? Ball park dont need spot on figures. Very good to see you are now in a happy spot. Thanx for the video Cheers Johnny&Rene
I’m in the market for a caravan (totally new to it never had anything before) we are thinking 18-21ft off road. Is there any brands that you would recommend that would alleviate these issues? We have had a terrible time with our boat (32ft) since we bought it and really just want a good off the shelf product that doesn’t become another project. Thanks 😊
Unfortunately not, on our travels and over the last few years we have heard it all!! Heard things about all the big brands as well which is very sad as the money you spend on higher “build quality” does not reflect in the actual product! In all honesty i wouldn’t expect to have a trouble free caravanning. Just find one you like and go for it.
cancelled my SRT order and brought a second hand sunseeker desert storm... dodged a bullet. the frame on the all terrain i believe will start snapping on the vans sold after release, its tinny and the reinforcement is very light. the off road all terrain had heaps of pipes and wires hanging down. doors not opening and all this was at a caravan show in Townsville recently. comparing snowy to titanium huge difference mine has 2 x 4inch rhs chassis much stronger.. thank you for your video. edit: LOVE the enerdrive system same system in ours and is highly rated- just curius how much was the enerdrive upgrade?? or was it standard peter @tindogtravels
Chassis wise the engineer and guys at cruise-master said the chassis on the snowy was actually pretty good and should hold up just fine so unless they changed the design for the srt im not sure on that side of things i have heard some very average reports on the srt though
@@OurAdventuresDownunda yes they did change the chassis rail it’s a sloping down design now but like zone but no where near the quality from what I could see.
Yes we lost 170mm of living space to show what i mean if you pull out the frame under the bed as far as it will go our mattress hangs over that by 70 mm
In my opinion it was a must do being full time living i cant go without a good mattress and to be totally honest its not affected the inside that much..
I'm in the market for a new caravan and whenever I like the look of one I google where is it manufactured and if it is from China I totally disregard it. Sorry you brought one.
Ill be honest mate apart from having shit house time at the dealer the van as a whole is actually fine! We have ours at a point where i completely trust it we are selling it but i can say hand on heart ours in now a good van… just had to spend alot to make it great haha
The van like others on the market at the moment had a few things break or go wrong with it.. we know of a few big expensive vans having similar or even worse things happen i think all in all the van itself it great just things like access doors and cabinet hinges need looked at or replaced as we have done.. the worst bit about our snowy was when the guys drilled right through our roof! that was pure stupidity.
Wow looks like we dodged a bullet by ordering an Australian made Essential C Class caravan, for the upgrades you had to pay out for you could have bought something a lot better without the heartache, if only we all had a crystal ball
Most offroad vans are well over 100k so in a way we still did well i think what we have now for what we have paid is pretty good its in level with some of the 140k vans that we looked at.. yeah ling way round but we are happy now haha Essential vans looks great hopefully you dont have any troubles! Happy vanning! Hopefully one day we can cross paths.
Mate, your van you bought is definitely not designed to go off bitumen, is made in China and mostly assembled there then shipped to Australia to be finished off with appliances and most people do not realize this - DEFINETLY BUY AUSTRALIAN BUILT AND MADE HERE - DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING
That’s such a great vid . Honest and lots of information . SO many couldn’t fix all those issues that you have and neither should they have to . Sounds like it’s where you want it now 👍
Its a good setup now
Bloody love a honesty mate….Can’t believe how calm you are talking about this all.
Its been a very good van since we fixed and upgraded what we did so yeah I’m all good now just early on in ownership i was so over it..
Thanks for the honest review. Snowy makes Jayco look like a Rolls Royce.
Haha its gone now mate so long snowy
😂
It doesn't matter whether it's $70000- or $170000- we still had a handful of problems. Good on you for sticking it out.
We ended up with a great van hey very happy in the end once i fixed the issues it was great! Id say its a good base for a handy man

Hey thanks for the feedback! And cheers for the sud! Glad you enjoyed it.. yeah we are enjoying travelling and feel very at home in our van now.

I don’t let much beat me mate! Yeah no ones cares anymore just sell it and repair it if someone complains hard enough hey

Yeah for sure plenty of brands out there and plenty of problems all in all we are happy with it, just a rough start to our ownership..
We just brought a van Kat from the Brissy show, can't wait to start doing some big trips !!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thats awesome, you guys will love it! What van did you get?
Don't blame you not dealing with the place you bought van from once bit twice shy 👍
Yep
Good information thank you
To easy mate cheers 🍻

Yeah i think if you just fix things or improve them as they fail you will end up with a reliable van we love it now! And i trust it more than ever
Thanks
Thanks mate!! We appreciate it👌🏻👌🏻

Makes My Jayco look good 😇
It is a good van mate the most trouble we had was after-sales dodgy fixes from the sales yard 😅
Nice vid. How much did the upgrades cost?
The van owes us about 105k as it sits right now so considering what we have im very happy with that..
We paid 72k for the stock van i pretty sure
Biggest hits were around 11.5k to cruise-master and 13.5k to the Enerdrive setup
Still a reasonable cost , but pretty close to a new off road van.
Yeah mate we prices up a couple of off-road vans and came up with prices around 100k but they still didn’t have the “off-grid” setup so snowy was a good fit for us so we could fit it all out

Hey guys all up we have about 30 k in upgrades biggest hits were about 11.5 to cruise master and 13.5 to the Enerdrive setup
Just wondering was the removal of the bunk easy as we are in the same boat with only one child
Super easy to remove few screws and its out!
Is that a boat I see in the back ground, did I miss a video 😮 😂
No you didnt miss one haha we are not hiding anything just you tube eps are a week or so behind usually

In saying that if i was in the market again for a new van i would look at lotus or titanium mainly due to the looks 👌🏻

Who done your suspension upgrade and how much?
Cruise master direct. It was 11.5k from memory
Does the big mattress impede into the living area?
