Welcome back to The Honest Carpenter! I'm glad to be back online...it was a long, crazy spring and summer.
I stepped back from the channel this year to create my very first online course (as some of you may remember). This process turned out to be outrageously difficult, and extremely rewarding.
I had originally set out to make a comprehensive carpentry basics course. But as I got deeper and deeper into the writing of that course, I realized that I was spending a tremendous amount of time just explaining how power tools worked.
It wasn't long before I decided, "There's just too much power tool information to cover here...this needs to be a course of it's own!"
So, after months of intense writing, filming, and editing, I have finally finished the course.
It's called POWER TOOLS EXPLAINED! and I believe it is truly the most comprehensive power tools training course for beginners that you'll find anywhere on the web.
I cover the 20 most important power tools for carpenters and DIYers in depth, and shine a light into all those confusing corners that newcomers always seem to struggle with.

I’m so excited for this course. I really enjoy your teaching style, and how seriously you take power tool safety. I even took a woodworking class at my local CC that didn’t put the same emphasis on safety as you. I’ve been told since I was young that I couldn’t do this type of work because everyone thought I would break the tools and hurt myself, and it’s made me reluctant to ever start. I know now that it’s just that no one wanted to take the time to teach me, but you don’t get that as a kid. This is the type of course I’ve been looking for for years. And honestly with everything I’ve already learned from your videos, I’d get it just to show my support.

Welcome back. I began my DIY projects with 1 power tool and the others with handsaws and other manual tools. I soon realized I needed more power tools! Don’t know how I managed without these now but I only buy as I need them and if I know I’ll use them again.

It was about time for somebody to come up with a no-nonsense course like this, and if anyone can nail it it's you! :)
I was always fascinated by the fact that people are making so much noise about firearms and other weapons, but I can not only walk out of a store with a f****n' table saw without any of the "hello my name is" puppets questioning my ability to operate it, but next day delivered one to my doorstep from any website... So much about safety! :D hashtag facepalm

Hi Ethan. Have a bit of what seems like a silly question but googling it is giving me absolutely nothing. In short, if I sister two studs together and screw them tight, how strong are fixing screws that happen to penetrate right in between both pieces? Can I expect the same holding power as if I screwed it through the centre of one, or will it be a weaker fixing?
The course sounds interesting, but is it possible to buy the sections separately? That is, just the tools with which I need the most help?

boy-o-boy everything online nowadays is truly & UNDENIABLY nothing more than people trying to sell you stuff...learning used to be as easy as merely getting online. well i wish you luck in your endeavors.

It’ll slowly build up over time! I found early on that, to give each subject the focus it deserves, I really have to break it up into individual topics.

Thank you. The front of my house is Masonite siding the bottom three pieces are rotted what can I replace it with. I cannot replace all of it. Any advice. If you lived closer you could look at it. Thank you for your time
