panthers actually had the best attendance (18,632) this season since their first season in their arena in 1998-99... so I would say fans do care and winning did help the market

I would leave it up to Matthews. His call. He gets to stand up and say, "I decided to sit" to take all the pressure off of the coach and his team mates. Or, he says, "I wanted to play because it will not make a difference to my ability to play in game 1" then that is his call too. I hope he plays and tries to get that one more goal, and he can at least say he tried. I don't think resting tomorrow will make a difference in the playoffs. But scoring that one more goal, that could boost the confidence even more, perhaps.
You can’t downplay power play points. If they were so easy to score then everyone would be doing it. Kuch clearly has skills that he can excel with on a power play, and if he is the go-to player on Tampa, then how does that not speak volumes about his value?

Leaf's showed no evidence throughout the reg season, they are up for the playoffs. Goaltending issues ALL year long. It's a head shaker for sure.... Playoffs is a different beast compared to regular season play.
The Leafs have bigger issues than worrying about whether Austin Matthews plays or rests. It could be that my knowledge of this team’s talent is jaded 🤷🏻♀️

Absolutely hated them have Matthews on the ice last minute.
Better to have the team feeling good that their star got 70 goals then lose the last 4 games and be the team that almost got their guy 70 goals but fell short. Better to chase the goal than to rest and still get smoked in the first round and miss out on history for nothing.

In NHL history, there are twice as many players that scored 70 goals than 100 assists in a single season, even with the opportunity for two assists on every goal. Also, only the Mount Rushmore of hockey attained this feet, namely Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux, and McDavid. Thus, McDavid should receive more votes than Matthews for the Hart Trophy without question.

Bourny, you are way off course if you think Matty shouldn't play. These guys are not old men and he is not hurt so PLAY THE FK OUTTA THEM!!!! Fear is death, so if they are afraid to play him, then they may as well head to the golf course. Would be fantastic to see 70 but imagine how screwed the fans would feel if they asked to rest. It would be a slap in the face to the fans who want to potentially see him score.

Guys don’t be so insulting…… our arena is full, I have season tickets and we are full and everyone loves the Panthers here, my three boys play at the Panthers system and we have a great thriving hockey community. The GTA has to stop disrespecting the south. If you survive Boston, rest assured you’re not getting past us in the second round. Go Leafs.

Boston losing last 2 games to mediocre teams. Than Florida overtaking them for division title. Sets up all Florida series and bruins leafs 1st round matchup. This couldn't have been scripted by nhl any better.
Matthews is not mvp. Edmonton is in the basement without mcdavid. Toronto has a bunch of guys upfront that can steady the ship. I’d have Crosby ahead of Matthews. If you need to win a hockey game who do you want on the ice. The fire that McKinnon plays with Crosby mcdavid is light years ahead of Matthews. The compete level Crosby plays with hasn’t been seen in a long time. It’s more than points. Who pulls their team to big wins when no one shows up. Not Matthews.
