Melo’s scoring package is larger than KD.. he got high post, low post, back to basket, inside, drive pull up, drive, off-block, fade-away, off-ball, pull up 3, turnaround. At all levels

On the flip side thou Melo is way stronger then KD. But KD is also taller then Melo. It actually very very close but I KD is better scorer by a slim margin. I think Dray picked Melo over KD because he was thinking 1v1 who would is harder to guard. Which I believe Melo would be harder to guard 1v1

I get what he means. Melo in his prime that bag was super deep and footwork was great. Melo was more physical with the scoring, but besides that, KD literally can do the same things at a more efficient clip. He basically just avg 30 last yr on 18 shots per game

No he can't he can't bully ball you the way melo could and melos handle was probably better Durant's height is what sets him apart his "bag" as tall like to say isn't deep at all it's just him being able to get that shot up whenever he wants
KD got better handles, he took T Mac hang dribble and added different variations to it. Melo bully ball was great, but you ain't got to play bully ball when you're 7 ft. Add to the fact KD shoots further from the basket due to being smaller in weight but shoots better from 2, 3 ,free throw line ,mid range is about even and in their highest scoring years, KD avg 4 more pts on 2 less shots, it's KD for me. When Melo gets hot, it's a sight to behold, but that's KD regular. The guy can get close to 50 on 20 shots that's unheard of

Melo didn't have a prime. If you shoot a lot you'll get a lot of ppg but he's not very accurate. The stats don't lie. And that's his best skill. Don't ask him to pass, rebound, or play defense.

I think the biggest difference between them is KD has the ability to score how he wants, but there’s times the defense can dictate what shots KD takes. I guess you could say Melo was more of a scoring force because no matter what he was going to take the shot he wanted to get to. KD will continuously take what the defense is giving and finding holes in the defense until you look up and realize he has 30 on like 18 shots. Two of the best scorers ever to touch a ball, but just my opinion.

This is a real tough one. I love Melo and I respect KD as a player and scorer but idk if Melo edges him out here....KD has better range. I think the only thing Melo really has over KD is he can rise up and hit a shot without creating space (in his prime of course) not hating or dismissing what KD does but he tends to cross over or rise up on a fade away and creates separation. KD has hit shots while he had guys in his face but not as often Melo had.

I believe KD is a better all around scorer in his prime. He can score on every level and make it look easy.

KD gets doubled as well the difference is he will pass out and reset while Melo will shoot a turnaround opposite of the double or just shoot it before it comes all together. That’s the difference. Melo wants to do it on his own KD doesn’t and that’s why he’s less efficient. Also Prime Melo nearly everything he did was one on one….. KD plays in the PnR and runs off curls and pin downs. Melo would never be as efficient as KD with his play style and mindset but I will say the truth is Melos “efficiency” is heavily brought down by all the fouls he does not get at the rim for his entire career.

Durant can be tight at times if you manage to get under him and have a team orietnted defense to fall back on. Outside of those rare occasions, he's practically unstoppable.

Carmelo never had a season where he was a better scorer than KD while KD was playing. Even the year Carmelo won the scoring title KD totaled 300 more points for the season with better shooting across the board. Carmelo may have a breakout game once in a while but KD is more consistent and KD outscored Kobe n LeBron in playoff series. KD has been to the third round and the finals while being the highest scoring player against the best defenses like the Spurs & the warriors. Melo was nice but KD was/is on a different level.

Everyone has opinions but Melo never averaged over 30 or shot 50 percent or more from the field and only has one scoring title. KD has 4 scoring titles and averages 50 percent from the field for 10 straight seasons.
They gave Durant way more fouls though, because he was so weak. Melo would get fouled all the time but get no calls it's just what happens when you're stronger than everyone.

Melo could do everything KD could do and more but KD can’t do everything Melo could do.
Melo was much better than KD in the midrange and post because of his physicality and ability to draw fouls. Melo could beat you with finesse or bully ball and when his shot was off, he’d just put his head down and go get you a bucket at the rim. Melo was excellent in traffic and finishing through contact, he had that lightning qwik 1st step, plus his triple threat jab step iso package is the best I’ve ever seen. Kyrie and Luka have a great triple threat jab step package too.
KD probably has the slight edge on the perimeter since he has a better handle and is a little better shooter but not by much. KD’s bag is limited cuz at 7ft he’s able to just pull up and shoot over ppl getting his shot off whenever which makes him the most effortlessly scorer I’ve ever watched but that speaks more to his height than his skill.
Kobe & Melo are the 2 most complete scorers I’ve ever watched. They were true 3 level scorers that could do everything well and play different styles from anywhere on the court, whether it be finesse or bully ball.
I wanna say I agree, but here's the thing I watch alot of BB back in the early 2010's and I remember when the Thunders used to destroy the Knicks more times than they've beaten them, what makes KD such a good scorer is his efficiency and ability to play off-ball at times. Melo was a ball hog and although I liked his game, it didn't get him that far in the playoffs. I think I'd go with KD but I have alot of respect in Melo's game because it's pretty hard to contain him 1v1. He's a better 1v1 player than durant for sure.
