Omg! I am in tears watching thismi needed this so bad... I'm a single mom, with more debt that I could have ever imagined and I want to just give up...THANK YOU for this!
we have been tracking our spending every single day for 29 years. My husband has graphed our spending, by hand, since then. We were able to project that when daycare went down, activities would go up. When they subsided, we would have university fees. We raised two children and helped them in university. When we started, I was "articling" (apprentice required in canada) with a law firm and we were forbidden to do any other work. My husband was in school. He worked a 17 hour shift one day a week to make ends meet. We are about to retire, debt free and with a decent income. It all started with tracking our spending. If we get sloppy and spend too much, we can see exactly where it is. (restaurants, clothing, etc)
I agree with everything except getting rid of life insurance. I think it should be viewed as a necessity (because it is), and when people cut it out, it's less likely they reinstate later.
Your trackers and handwriting are so neat. And yes! I wholeheartedly agree, tracking is super important. Right away, you get an idea of where you're overspending. And it surprises me how it doesn't always happen at once, that there are layers to discipline and cutting back. Love it, thanks!
I disagree on not having a life insurance. Why? Cause if you are struggling to make ends meet WITH your income, how is your family (aka your economic dependants) going to make ends meet if you pass away unexpectedly?! They would be worse.
I love the videos you make. I just graduated from High School and this, Omg so good .... I'm wondering why they don't teach this at school..... Thank you so much 😘😘😘😘
Love the passion in what you're doing!! I'm on my own "get debt free" journey and love your channel!!! You showing exactly what you're doing makes it much more "real". Thanks and keep up the videos!!! Used/Using many of your little "tips"
I used to do that...but then the whole “mad cow” scare hit and being a veteran that lived in Germany in the late 80s.....they have permanently “deferred me” or banned me from donating. I tried to explain to them that I am and have been a vegetarian and never ate any “cows” while overseas, they didn’t care. Otherwise, it was a pretty sweet deal; used to get caught up on my reading...
I could cut off Direct TV, I hardly ever watch it. I bought the Live Rich Planner for 2020. It’s got everything in it I need and I keep getting ideas for using it. Thanks!
I’m so blessed to have come across this channel. When will the Budget by Paycheck Workbook be available?? Not sure if i want to do the PDF version, I would LOVE LOVE the actual planner!
I can watch this over and over! THIS is what helped us to make progress out of drowning debt and into saving. I cannot stress this I formation enough. Also, we tried the 2nd job and Hubby and I do side repair jobs together. Even though we are together, it's not the same as down time together. Fortunately, I have paid sick leave from work because we overwork on weekend and I am in alot of pain the next day! Cutting costs and eliminating pleasures (temporarily) are truly the key to breaking the cycle and getting ahead.
Love love love this video.. it was so helpful. I just started on my budgeting journey.. hopefully I can succeed and put my family a little further ahead than paycheck to paycheck.
I've got a question about the cash envelope system. Say you go to the store and buy groceries, pet food, household items and makeup (like at Target or something). How do you take out the right amounts from each category? Or do you just classify it as one thing?
Hi Nayala... She made a previous post on this...she goea thru the self check out and pays separately.. Its a great idea! I love how she takes time to explain it all..hope this helps :)
I usually just tell the cash register associate, I want to pay separate for these other items and I round up & I take them out of each envelope. I round up, so if item is 14.50, I write 15. & deduct. The change I use it where need it later.
Very informative and helpful. However, there are some of us like me, who are on a fixed income, and do not have the option to find another source of income. Any advice for us?
Do you have a suggested list for savings - like start with a medical doctor fund , emergency savings then what about annual things that come due - HOw do you fund them all
I stumbled across your videos, and enjoy watching them. I need to start a budget, my spending is out of control. I think youtube knew and sent me your videos lol. Hey I also heard in the last video I watched, you're in WA? I'm in Yakima County! I like watching UA-camrs from my home state. Woohoo!
I know this is such a dumb question, but in the intro when she says “it’s all about having a plan for your money and that’s what gives you the _______ _________.” Can anyone tell me what is exactly said? Captions say something that makes NO SENSE. I’m thinking she says true control but not 100% sure. I love watching these videos bc she is always giving out lots of helpful money and budgeting tips!
Hi! I'm new to your channel, and appreciate the info you are providing. My biggest struggle is the unexpected costs or the "yearly" costs- things like school supplies, oil changes, Holiday and other gifts. What is your advice on that? Do you recommend a budget for that? Often I will see a good deal and go for it, even when it isn't in the budget.
So I just purchased the budget by paycheck workbook but I was so excited to get it, that I didn’t realize it was just a digital copy and I’d have to make the book myself. Is there any way to get this sent to me already I’m bound book form? I noticed the cover and back of yours is made of harder material...idk where I would even get that done
I just read some of the comments below...dang. Wish I would have read them first. I honestly wouldn’t have purchased it u til August. Oh well, my mistake !
You stated that you place your dental insurance on the expense tracker. If I get my dental, vision, and medical from work should I still place it on my expense tracker? Or ignore it since it came out pre tax and is not part of my net income?
Some people refuse to give up anything that they can't afford. I have no clue why! I guess they are so desperate to live like the folks next door, they just can't say no to anything. Everyone else is 'lucky' and they aren't.
I would see if you can contact your providers and explain your financial hardship to be allowed, without penalty, to skip a monthly payment. Having that 'break' will free up funds to break that cash advance cycle. Best wishes.
Telling people to get rid of life insurance is the most asinine advice I’ve heard in awhile. No one knows when they’re going to die and if you have a family or kids idc what you have to do but cutting life insurance is one adjustment you shouldn’t make! Horrible advice in my opinion. But I enjoyed the video on the overall topic.
Elle Encarnacìon that’s what I was thinking too! Why the hell would anyone cut Life Insurance? Is she crazy!? Lmao And I definitely won’t cut off my Netflix.. that’s my cable tv lol
It’s April 2022 and I still watch the older videos! This one of my favorite ones 👍 I am credit card debt free thanks to you MIKO! 💕

I thought I was living frugal ... then I reviewed my subscriptions/memberships. I managed to free up $100+ annually 🙏🏽
You are really making a positive contribution to society. Thank you so much.

Can you show us grocery hauls? And meal plans that fit with the grocery haul to cut down on grocery spending?
My side hustle is donating plasma. 2 hrs a week and $70-90 per week when I am able to get both donations done in that week!
wow. I wouldn't even have known that was a thing. I don't think we can do that in canada.
