    Great video. I sort of figured out some of the autopilot on my own, but this video both cleared up a few misconceptions that I had and filled in a number of gaps. I decided to go into full "experiment mode" on a flight right after this: I set up a fairly short flight and played around with a bunch of modes to see what happens, without regard to getting it right. Best way to learn.

    This is great, I normally stick vnav and lnav modes on after takeoff and away we go, then use the LOC and APP modes for ILS. This is good for when I need to deviate from these modes due to ATC or anything like that. Once again, wonderful tutorial and appreciate your time taken to produce these videos.

    Thanks - this gold.
    I do not know the reason for lack of detailed Ops documentation in PMDG. - Decades ago, in serious Boeing addons, example, the FMC section was at least 100 pages.
    To lift PMDG737 up to study level, your series is mandatory.
    The deselect option reminds me of exam in simulator (for licensed tech certification). The instructor pressed a button, and asked me to explain the option. I told him everything I knew about the system. He replied this not the answer he was looking for. Finally I gave up. Then he hit the button again - "you can deselect it"

    I’m one of those weirdos that actually uses CWS. I like to hand fly up to 15-20k usually and I hate having to trim so much. Really nice with a level off to have CWS auto trim for you and just have to push the yoke forward.
    The simplest way I can explain ALT INTV is it’s a “i want that ALT now button” it’s mostly used when coming out of cruise altitude with a descend and maintain clearance and you want to stay in VNAV.

    First of all thank you for so many great videos! But I have a question as well. If left course knob works in relation with left radio panel settings and left ND, and right hand course knob analogically with right hand side nd and radio, does it mean that there can be different nav aid with different courses set on both NDs? Or if I set a course on right hand course knob, this course would be displayed on left hand ND as well? And another question if I can. Lets assume that I fly raw data. I fly along one VOR radial and at a certain point I have to switch to another VOR and follow different radial. I do that by simply switching appropriate frequency from stb to active on radio pannel and I set new course by course knob? Or it should be done different way? Thank you in advance and wish you all the best!

    Thanks for an excellent overview! Question: in what situation do we select 30 degree bank angle? For approaches and SIDs with tight turns?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 роки тому +1

      Basically only when you really need to make a tight turn.
      Appraoches and SIDs are usually flown in LNAV and LNAV uses its own automatic bank limiter, thus the knobs limitation does not apply to it.
      My main use for 30° AOB is during Circling Approaches when establishing on the final approach course. When I see that I'm about to overshoot I use 30° AOB there.
      Apart from that 25° is usually sufficient for all operations.

      You really don’t use V/S all that much. It’s gonna be ALT INTV or LVL CHG for most descents. Only time I would use it is if you are close to traffic go less than 1000fpm to not set off an RA (ALT INTV defaults to 1000fpm)

    If you are using VNAV for say, a descent or approach and ATC instructs you to maintain 180KTS, then you would use SPD INTV and select SPEED mode with 180 in the speed window, correct? Then, how do you return to the mode where VNAV uses the speed given by the FMC again? Thank you.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому +1

      I'd most likely use LVL CHG instead of VNAV because VNAV gives priority to the path and LVL CHG gives priority to the speed.

    • @Micg51
      @Micg51 5 місяців тому +1

      If you want to remain in VNAV, all you have to do is click SPD INTV, and use the speed knob to select 180. To go back to FMC speed, just click SPD INTV again. There isn’t really any scenario where you will click the SPEED button
