Working non con in 1995 was no joke. Cases and cases of soda, jugs of paint liquids, pet food, desks, we looked through labels to get the stack with full pallet pulls to make quota lol. Just about everything we pulled was over 50 lbs and had to pull 1400 pcs per 8 hr shift.
I work in dc 6084 I work in the cold side for 7 years but at first I was struggling I didn’t think I was going to make it but slip sheets will help also put the heavy boxes on the corners and the small stuff in the middle the highest I pulled for the day was a 190 going full speed and now I’m the fastest in the warehouse don’t give up just keep tryang you guys will get it eventually good luck.
I tried my hand at order filling at a Walmart DC once upon a time, and for whatever reason I just couldn't hack it at all... It got to the point where one of the operations managers basically gave me the option to quit or be fired. He said I was one of the worst he'd ever seen. To me, order filling is one of those type of jobs where you either got it or you don't, and I guess I just didn't have it. My hat goes off to all that you do, though
I was an order filler for dc 7015 for a couple of years. I worked in dairy deli but would also get sent to the freezer area quite often. It's a pretty physically demanding job and for the first month you will be really sore. Slip sheets and learning how to stack was the key to being able to pull high #'s. When I worked there you were able to pull standard and leave early if you were fast, not sure if they still do that or not. after a couple of years of order filling I switched to forklift driver which was less physically difficult but more stressful. All in all I would say working at the dc had its pros and cons. On one hand you can work 3 or 4 days a week and make 40+ hrs and the pay is pretty decent if you pull high. On the other hand the job is very repetive and physically demanding and feels like an endless loop of doing the same thing over and over again.

@JTBreview, when the company asked you whether you wanted to work 3 eleven hour shifts or 4 ten hour shifts was it for the same job? usually the people that work 3 days a week are the people that load the trucks with dock stockers. they work Saturday, Sunday, and Monday then have 4 days off. while everyone else that works 4 ten hour shifts work Tuesday through Friday and then have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off at Walmart. most distribution centers or DC's for short have no air condition for the summer and no heat during the winter.

i got a few tips. i mean i wouldnt even bother with cardboard sheets for the most part other then for protecting bags of sugar or flower. but whatever works for people to make them faster. if you know your getting an order with decent multiples always save a pallet or a portion of a pallet that will fit those multiples. sometimes this wont work out but most times this can work. so usually your back pallet can be the multiples pallet if you want as the front pallet is easily supported by your pallet jack. next is simple but something some people dont always think of. try and think about stuff that can be combined to make the same height as other common cases you know you will get. for example if you get a few cases of soda, maybe those 2 cans of cat food will match up the same height even tho its in 2 aisles ahead. so you know you can make a solid base right there for your skid. basically you can collum stack for awhile until you reach a solid base and can start interlocking. keep shitty cases in the middle. this might be obvious too but ive seen a lot of broken olive oil and stuff like that. cases that are heavy tall and thin are fucked so keep that shit in the middle of your pallet or at least on the front row of your first pallet. and if your skid does fall that stuff will be inside and wont break. something worth trying is wraping your skid in incraments. this sounds slow but it can be really fast unless you guys use wrap machines then this may slow you down and just stick to using tape. if you already have to wrap by hand then you can build up your pallets and wrap really fast. you can drive your jack way faster and worry less about building a perfect skid. if you already have to wrap later then wraping now wont reduce much time as you save that time later of wrapping anyway and get the other bonuses of safer skid. there was a guy who was an absolute beast running around like a maniac and this is what he did. his skids were ugly as sin but if they fell apart im sure they would of gave him a talking to. but in general try and build solid skids you dont need to be a coke head out there doing 220 cases an hour another tip is just to keep an eye out on how the best workers build their skids and what type of tactics they use. i havnt worked at walmart dc but another big food warehouse and its pretty similar but each place will have their own stratagies depending on the type of cases you get in what order
Quick question. I’m at 85% and I’m trying to get to 100 minimum. I have trouble with paper trips and can trips. Especially the fruit cup boxes because they’re slipppery. But can you describe how exactly you use the tape? Do you tape around the whole pallet or certain areas? Do you drop the pallet when you’re taping?
Ill have a video coming out soon to help with these trips. Paper and P to Y trips suck but I can help you. When i use tape i tape the top middle and middle to the bottom. Paper is the hardest for me because they always fall.
I just don't understand how to get that speed. What should I do if I get a two pallet trip done and then get a trip that's only a few cases how do I make up for that time where do I take them do I even need a pallet for the 4-6 items that are going to make it impossible to bring my percent back up? Also what do you do after a fall? and do you tape every trip? How do I get pallets on faster?
Trips with only a few cases suck. But what I do is find the store number that it's going to and go to the door and find another pallet with the same store number and put the few cases on that and keep your pallet. If it falls pick it up and keep going but stack better. Tape or wrap it if you need it
If you don't call for your next trip until your dropping your current one at the wrap machine it helps with those small trips. You just have to do it from your very first trip. Start up down time will always give that first trip a bump. I dont know which system you use Lydia or the old units. Lydia is much better. Always remember seconds matter. Once you put a case down dont touch it again. Learn your aisle. I know about what im going to get as soon as I see my labels so I stack accordingly. Always have a sense of urgency. Those are some of my personal tips...150 puller at 6082. Dont pull over 150 by the way unless your just trying to hit standard and go home. We don't get paid for more than 150.
You have a head set that tells you what to pick and where to go. Aisles are marked for directions to travel, the aisles are one way except a few but those are for the lift drivers not the order fillers. Could be different at different dcs though

i work at a different company but a freight handler at Walmart is like a bulk picker or order selector where I work. people who work as freight handler/bulk picker generally work 2nd shift. they use a double pallet jacks, forklifts, or a cherry pickers at my job. we hire a lot of people every week and every month for this position. this position has the highest turn around of workers either getting fired by the bosses or workers simply quitting by lunch time. this type of job is very demanding and extremely hard on the body. JT has the right mind set for the job. he is getting to work before everyone so he can stretch, get the best machine, and prep before he starts doing his job. learning how to build a pallet the correct way will make your job a lot easier. always put the heavy stuff on the bottom and the lightest stuff on the top. Jt is correct learn to build the pallet and then your numbers will go up.

And then one day I just “got it” ever since then I pull 130 - 145 ish and make full incentive. I play chess so maybe that has something to do with how my mind processes it but as a veteran I’ll tell u this job still isn’t easy. You go through things. Mental, physically psychologically. But the pay is good. That’s about it.
Physically I not too bad if you played sports or are used to being physically active, it's it's about the psychological aspect. You gotta get your mind right and be able to focus for long stretches of time, and not let it break you.

Don't be a freezer order filler people. That extra pay isn't worth it
Yeah you're right! When I'm on rotation and it's my turn to go I hate it bro. Big prayers to y'all.
I’m from 6083 and all the freezer guys tell me it’s easier then dairy deli as long as you keep moving you won’t get that cold and they said it’s easier stacks
@@Somalian68. nothing is heavy but I love produce
They used to put me in the freezer all the time as a dairy deli order filler cause half of the freezer dudes quit. Fuck man, I could walk a 130 in DD but couldn't run a 100 in the freezer it fuckin sucked
@@saturnkingofmushrooms7821 I get put into freezer all the time and I can pull a 120 in dd easy but when I go to freezer all I can get is like a 70 or 80
i work at a different company but a freight handler at Walmart is like a bulk picker or order selector where I work. people who work as freight handler/bulk picker generally work 2nd shift. they use a double pallet jacks, forklifts, or a cherry pickers at my job. we hire a lot of people every week and every month for this position. this position has the highest turn around of workers either getting fired by the bosses or workers simply quitting by lunch time. this type of job is very demanding and extremely hard on the body.
What does pulling mean? Does pulling mean pulling pallets? Because pulling 100 a day for 8 hours is 12 pallets an hour.
Pulling means how fast you orderfill and your percentage.
So you show up early and work off the clock or does you DC allow you to clock in early?
So now we aren't allowed to even be on the floor until we clock in. New video coming soon on how to be a pro with this new policy.
Shift 1 order filler here for Walmart dc. my first 3 months I made every mistake. I would “Christmas’s tree” my stacks. Constantly falling over. Supervisors joking about how I’d never make it.
Well said. That was me too. It took me about 6 months to master and pull 150 and higher. You will go through alot.
Physically I not too bad if you played sports or are used to being physically active, it's it's about the psychological aspect. You gotta get your mind right and be able to focus for long stretches of time, and not let it break you.
do you guys have to keep labels outside of the skid at walmart? i worked at a warehouse where you could put things in the middle but ive joined another one and we arnt allowed to put anything on the skid thats not label facing outside
We are told to put labels on the top right of each pallet.
It's crazy now. They give new associates 1000 trips before they get evaluated
Thats so true!
Yea I'm fdd dairy side and it's 1200 trips to meet 100%
@@Tmonneyy Now, they only have to pull 90% to make production.
@@MariE-bz2eq that for everyone or only new hires
@@Itsyaboyaaron123 That's for everyone. You still don't get incentive unless you pull over 100% though
Go to freezer u gone love using thin sleeps shits 🤩
I want the thicccccccc
Lol
Definitely them thic ones be clutch 💪🏾
Hey bro i didn’t even make pass orientation the tests were hard for me and the number patterns thing is hard for me and now any tips numbers never been my thing physically I can work hard that’s my strong side and weakness is numbers
I would say keep trying and call the DC youre trying to apply for. Most have hiring events. Im sure they can help out with that.
Second day after onboarding got a 136 on a dog food run
Dang dude thats awesome!
❤❤❤
do you work 4 days a week?
Three days a week 12 hour shifts
I work 4 10 hour days. It depends on your shifts.
@@JohnBuis I work 3 12’s
@@shanecampbell8538 Same here !
An orderfiller's job is to work hard and wear their bodies out so the people who don't orderfill can have a easy pay day 😅
Well said.
Third day did a juice run at the end of the day 5000plus pounds did a 103
Yeah juice is tough after 8 of those in a row and no slip sheets.
@@JohnBuis I don't use slip sheets I brick layer
I just finished my 90 days I’m pulling 100s
Keep it up man! Kill it!
Why you quit
Where getting one in SC…. What easy position should I apply fr and what is the pay in your area???
Lift driver is the easiest. Pay is over 20 bucks
Lift driver or Hauling
Unloading is pretty easy
@@saturnkingofmushrooms7821 unloaders don't get paid enough
@@Slaymusty True, but better than orderfilling. I worked as one for 2 years before switching over so I atleast got to keep my raises.
If you get hungry there’s plenty of produce out there to munch on
And get fired for grazing in the process
Yeah that’s theft and Walmart has better cameras than most banks good chance of catching a charge for stealing from Walmart.
How do you start early without getting pointed for clocking in early???
You can collect slip sheets, headset, labels, and synchronize your machine with the remote. Just can't clock in early and move the machine.
Correct
What warehouse u work that points you for clocking in early? 😳🤦🏽♂️
@@ToniOhNo live long enough & you'll hear a lot of weird things. Some say "not a min before or after ” while others say, " 5-9mins before or after ”
I did 130 Evey day.. cold side
The coldside is the worst
@@JohnBuis cold side is the best cause even if you pull high, you’ll get hot but cool down pretty quick. Meat n produce is where it’s at. Working out for free. Pull incentive, and the stacking is CAKE, BUTTER bro. Way better than dry and dairy deli imo
How many pallets do yall do a day?
Depending how fast i go. Id say at least 30 to 40 but It could be more.
@@JohnBuis damn that’s a little more then I was thinking… damn 30 40, so ur doing more then 2 an hour? I start Monday wish me luck….
@@JohnBuis so our dc only lets u clock in two minutes early haha wtf is that about. Some odd shit there
Is order picker the same?
Yes
We call “rice” and that kind of stuff Conventional’s
Yeah same here. I just learned that a month ago.
Did you say how much you make?
20 bucks at least or more

7014 meat and produce, cold room only, 💪
Watched your videos after I finished my orientation week and I did pick up a few things from you but also picked up some of my own things and after only 6 weeks I became a consistent 130s-140s puller. I’m also competitive and I have a friend who actually recommended I worked there and he was already a consistent 140s puller so it just pushed me to compete with him 😂.
Thats so awesome to hear! Having a friend to compete with just makes the work so much easier.
Meat and Produce baby! Cucumbers and chicken all night.
All day and all night!
Meat and produce, we move 40 pounds consecutively all night
