    Now that is a cool video! Haven't seen anyone make a gas then store it in a bottle here on UA-cam yet so I liked seeing it!

    +THYZOID LABORATORIES That actually reminds me of an interesting way to make sulfuric acid using copper(II) sulfate as a catalyst. And no one has ever done it on UA-cam. If you want I can tell you how it works.

      Feel free to share it. As long as I run this reaction in 2021 it’s still legal over here.

      @@THYZOID Ok, thank you! The idea is to bubble hydrogen sulfide into a saturated solution of copper(II) sulfate to create a brownish-black precipitate of copper(II) sulfide and a solution of sulfuric acid:
      CuSO4 * 5 H2O + H2S = CuS + H2SO4 + 5 H2O
      After filtering the copper(II) sulfide to separate it from the sulfuric acid, you can put the copper(II) on a container and cover it with some water while also leaving it exposed to oxygen in the air to reform the copper(II) sulfate you started with: CuS + 2 O2 + 5 H2O = CuSO4 * 5 H2O
      You can do this as many times you want, and the overall reaction is hydrogen sulfide being oxidized to sulfuric acid: H2S + 2 O2 = H2SO4

      @@chemicalmaster3267 Maybe an interesting addition: H2S can ofc be easily produced by adding HCl to some sulfide, but you can also mix paraffin wax (basically a candle) and elemental sulfur. Extractions&Ire made a video about it. I actually never thought I‘d find a cheap and domestically available route to make sulfuric acid.

    Out of curiosity the gas masks you use, you have a few types.. this one looks like it's from ww1😂 what are the differences in the masks?

    • @THYZOID
      @THYZOID  3 роки тому

      I´ve got a full face respirator from Draeger with an ABEK2 P3 Hg filter (not from ww1 but new :D). This one is used for corrosive gasses like ammonia, chlorine, SO2...... also for Hg and particles. The filter used is still efficient for a large concentration of toxic gas in the air. The other mask from 3m (half mask) is also efficient but it does not protect the eyes. Its filters are not as efficient as the full face respirators masks filters are. Therefore I only use it when dealing with smaller amount of toxic chemicals. When working with acetyl chloride it is for example crucial to wear a full face respirator because a lot of fumes you do not want in your eyes are given off.

    • @THYZOID
