      Some people have better audio (and visual acuity) than others.
      I don’t understand the huge mark-up on the “best” (not just Nordost) but there’s always a difference and all cables sound different. Even the piece of shit included mains cables you no doubt insist is just the same.
      But it’s/their not.

    As a musician, electrical engineer, audio engineer, wine salesman and hi-fi fan, I find it interesting how many people can claim to hear differences between power cables. I can appreciate that at the upper echelon you're splitting hairs but any modern engineer worth their salt would shudder at the thought of their circuit being so poorly designed and executed that a power cable would make a discernible difference. Interconnects and speaker cables, fine. Power cables? Now you're chasing your tail.

    I listened to his demonstration in Thailand(noted that the system is not as good as the one present here). It's difference, sure: but for the better or worst. You will be the judge. Both are beautiful and well build for sure. Maybe, the system where thing are little hot and dry, the V2 is better.... if the system is little lay back, the V1 might be better..... Just a thought.... I brought V2 for my oracle delphi mk vi record player, coz it's sound good with my Benz LPs and it's fit . The player came with van den hul tonearm cable d 501. It's not fair to compare them for sure. And the V1 was too stiff.

    Power cords Do make a difference. Purity of the pore must be dealt with first and then the cord itself. I use Nordost in my entire home theatre system except the subwoofer power cord. In that I use Cardas Clear Beyond.

  • @peterwikvist2433
    @peterwikvist2433 3 місяці тому

    There is very little a power cord needs to do to deliver flawless performance. Exotic designs and extraordinary claims are irrelevant. At no point in use does the power cord carry signals. It simply conveys power from your home's main supply to the power supply in your device. Look for something simple, sturdy, and safe to use.

    2:01 Valhalla 1 and 3:32 Valhalla 2. This audio system definitely sounds better with V2: clarity and smoothness of sound is better, resolution is higher, soundstage bigger... but price for this improvement is too high for me right now :((

      i cant hear any differnce over that yt vid...but i own alot of nordost cables. they realy deliver...99% of all the other cable "makers" are bs. nordost ist just simply physics and it realy works. only thing i got is a V1xlr interconnect. power csbles are tyr 2 and frey 2. speaker is also frey 2. qrt qx2 and qb4.2 with also qk1 and qb2 are working as well. but it all plugs in a ps audio p5 powerplant. the p5 need a real good mains cable to perform the best. i was going from a red dawn to frey 2 and finally the tyr 2 power cord was the best for the whole system sound.
      my recommendation for best price to performance is by far the frey 2 power cord. tyr 1 interconnect and a heimdall 2 speaker cable. with this combination you will hear 85-90% of valhalla 1 series. thats more than enough.
      i love nordost...the where the ones that showed me that power cable are no snake oil...it starts with you power cables, no freakin joke. music becomes to live with only heimdall 2 series power cords. very open, clear, detailed and natural! but the frey 2 is in all of that realy better...plus more 3d soundstage, more body to everthing...more bass, but deeper with mor controll! frey 2 power cord...best of the all price wise. interconnect...i got everything from the norse 1 and 2 series...and i dont like the 2 series. got heimdall 2 and tyr 2 xlr...but the are not even close to a tyr 1 xlr. even a heimdall 2 makes much more fun and gives you the whole nordost experience.

    Two cables sound definitly different.
    Maybe I'm saying this because I have 3 of older Valhalla in my system...
    Just by this video I hear that the new one is more smooth and sliky sound compare to older one's forward and stronger sound.
    These days speakers and audio components have to strong of high frequency range so I think that nordost tuned new Valhallas to syncronize with the trend of audio components.

      You don't study electricty to gain a good ear for sound. I'v studied enginering at college, and it doesn't make a blind bit of diference when I listen to music. If you buy good enough cables, you will hear the difference (that includes power cables). It doesn't matter that science can't explain why the last couple of feet or so make the difference in an otherwise poorly wired power grid, they just do. Try it yourself.You can buy russ andrews cables with a 60 day money back garantee if you don't like them.

    • @andru2625
      @andru2625 7 років тому +2

      So, I guess you have made extensive comparisons between power cables from various manufacturers and you reached the conclusion that there is absolutely no difference between them, right? Or you're just one of those people that simply "know" these things without having any proof?
      Well, everything matters in hifi audio and if you didn't know this by now is because you haven't experienced it.

    Bs demo,a person hearing doing a A/B test right after each other is influence by many factors but mostly of a emotional perception of differences they need to hear to justify the "upgraded" product.Of course you can do the blind fold test with listeners and let them rate which they like better and I bet %50 of them would be wrong as which is the $2000 cables vs the $200 ones.I been a "audiophile for over two decades and heard some of the most expensive gear out there and I came to realize I always came back to my 30 old year tube gear with good $500 cables and a my Oracle turntable with dedicated power lines to enjoy music and not chase magically wonder cables, ultra expensive,stands,sound pucks,etc.

    High-end hifi appears virtually exclusively the preserve of very rich men. Nothing of the sonic quality differences can possibly be conveyed in this clip because it's all recorded on a hand held digital camera. This Valhalla cable is currently retailing at approx £2k per metre. It's an unavoidable physiological fact that you lose very high frequencies as you age, in other words, only very young children will truly appreciate these sonically esoteric differences!!!!!

  • @Xxshadowman11xX

    Why am I studying computer engineering when I could just trick gullible people into spending the equivalent of $2500+ per meter of audio cable? Cable which likely costs me less than $150 per meter. Hell, I could fool simple minded people with a fancy set up as well.

    This is ridiculous on several levels:
    1) Any differences on a system like that would not be audiable over a camera / youtube unless they are quite severe.
    2) Given the quality of the hifi and cables, (let's say pretty close to perfection - 99%) one might expect there to be only tiny differences between cables, probably not enough to discern even in the flesh.
    3) Audio memory is not sufficient to listen to one clip, then asses changes that might ammount to less than a 1% difference with the original sound 30 seconds later.

I know ... i m not there in the room but this is the my opinion. With the firstseries of Valhalla Nordost had reached probably the highest level possible. Of course should i take in consideration that all the rest are the TWO series but the MAIN power cable is always the most important in all the audio systems i have heard. The types of materials and configuration of the ONE is already incredible and the performances the same ..
