A Google user true but most of them are little bells and whistles plus the op7 pro has some things that a more expensive device doesn’t have like an all screen display and a 90 hz refresh rate
"A little bit cheaper" The top end 12gb of ram version is $500 less than the middle Galaxy S10+ model, $850 less than the top end Galaxy S10+ model and $700 less than the current price of the top end iPhone 10S Max (which has been out for about 7 months already). @@ruskokollektiv5457 Because glass feels very premium. I've used multiple metal and plastic cases with my phone but I gave up on using them because they feel terrible in comparison to the glass back. Glass just feels so much more smooth, and nice on the hands. I was like you until I actually got a glass backed phone and realized how amazing they feel. Give it a shot dude.
@@lostandalive8981 meh, I've had three glass backed phones. They feel nice for 5 minutes, then they smudge and get oily like all other glass. Then you drop them and they break, like all other glass. Glass is only good for two things, feeling "premium" and not having RF interference. Everything else about glass is worse than metal or plastic. Polycarbonate is honestly the best choice but people have been conditioned to think it's only for cheap phones.
@@ruskokollektiv5457 I've had my glass backed v30 for over a year and not a crack has formed in the 9 plus months I've used it without a case. But stick to plastic if you like it. I don't really care. Just don't start saying glass is pointless, it's not.
The camera IS important, especially if you travel a lot, but for me it's the screen. I would say that the average consumer looks at their screen approximately 40 times a day, whereas they may only take 2-3 dozen photos a month. Of course that can vary greatly depending on the age/mindset of the user. Either way, I think that OnePlus has done an outstanding job here and they should get the award for the cell phone of the year. I currently use an iPhone, but when this sucker dies, I may have to seriously consider the OnePlus 7 Pro. Thanks for the superior review. You rock!
What is the point of wireless charger if its going to do 0-100% over a lifetime when same can be done in 20min! American reviewers need to buy brain...seriously
You're the one that needs a brain ironically. Each have their own benefits and uses. When you are pressed for time fast charger makes sense. When you want convienience wireless charging makes sense especially in a car which support wireless charging now a days. Plus you can use it as a case for extra battery life. Plus it won't harm battery life in the long run like a fast charger will. They both have their benefits and uses. So don't make such stupid blanket statements. Seriously.
@@zhetaolu963 its wireless because you don't need to connect a wire to the phone like some sort of puzzle piece. You just place and go. NASA wants to know my memory of the moon landing. Well.... I was still an inexistent egg in my grandmother, we had no TV but thanks to my wild imagination I saw in full 4K. What can I say... It was great!
This and MKBHD reviews were the ones I liked the moest. Everyone else was just hating on the thing. It offers amazing things for great value. I have a pixel 3 XL right now and it lags like crazy, I use the UI 90 percent of the time and the camera 10 percent of the time. I want the UI to work better then the camera. Also if I am tempted for the pixel camera I can just get the GCAM mod which will solve the problem. Amazing phone for great value. Buying it day one!
You forgot to mention that it has no micro sd card slot. Considering that Micro SD Express card slots are just around the corner, this is a deal breaker for me. These slots are going to help create a gaming revolution on Android phones where games are finally able to be 20 Gb's+ each.
@@MrRidocks Considering that a lot of computer games are 20-50 Gb's each, it's not a huge stretch to expect this eventually on phones. A lot of phone games are cheating right now because they often don't contain very much audio dialogue or high-resolution videos. Once the space issue has been solved, we'll start to see much better games.
@@xJohnNguyen I don't think that will be. Possible on a phone the storage and processors are to weak to handle such large device. If you want better games on a phone I think it would be more cloud computing
@@MrRidocks We're closer than you think. SD Express cards will provide the storage bandwidth that's necessary. Snapdragon 855 is also already quite a capable processor. Just look at the Nintendo Switch for a prime example of what's already possible.
I think that as long as the phone is worth the price, then it's fine. This has what seems like a practical solution to the notch, a beautiful screen, a great camera, supercharging, great battery and fast/clean OS. For what it gives, it's an understandable price.
The OP7P is meant to compete against the Pixel 3 XL, S10+ and Xs Max. In that regard, the OP7P offers a huge cost savings over those premium flagships. The regular OP7 is available in some markets now, but will come to others (like the USA) later, I think. That will most likely come in at a more palatable price tag, just as other OP models have. If it still isn’t, there’s always the 3a and Pocophone! Edit; removed extra “is” from sentence
Nice review! I love the look of the big screen and I like the idea of the wide and tele lens options. I'm using a Pixel 2XL and I think I'd miss the front facing speakers too much but I appreciate having different options with different phones.
IP rating should not be a deal breaker for anyone. What OEMs don't tell you is that the adhesive used to seal the phone and keep water out starts to degrade after several months. A phone with an IP rating will not have the same resistance to water a year after you've gotten it. IP ratings are great for spilling soda on your phone accidentally, not for dips in a toilet bowl or the pool.
Plus the OnePlus is somewhat water resistant as shown on one of their teasers dropping it in to a bucket. I still wouldn't take an Ip rated phone swimming with me anyways as its not under warranty.
Idk but in the last review of this phone I saw, which was by MKBHD, he said it CANT ratchet the refresh rate down like the iPad Pro. But One Plus said it’ll be releasing updates in the future to enable that. But it isn’t there yet.

love you deiter. wish you had talked about how cool warp charging is considering some companies are still not even providing any sort of fast charging at a $1000+ price tag. It's the principle
Which I find so ridiculously useless... The percentage of people who actually record their screen is minimal, and there are hundreds of apps to be downloaded for that purpose, instead of having it as bloatware (for the 90% of people who would never record their phone screen).
The phone will be fine if you drop it in water and lift it up within 5 min and that's enough for me. No flagship phone has a headphone jack so get used to it. And wireless chargeing is super slow compare to the warp. Also the phone is like 500 cheaper than it's competition so I'm willing to get past these small things
@@MJarthur95 no people will get over the jack when Bluetooth headphones reach the consistency and audio quality of the jack at similar prices. Until then you get over consumers demands Because just like fast charging has its benefits so too does wireless. Its much more convienient... No wires thst will break.. Especially great in a car or as a case etc... And won't harm your battery life in the long run like a fast charger will. Etc And a phone isn't waterproof. Only water resistant. The fact they have no IP rating speaks to how screwed you will be in the event you drop it in water or get caught in a thunder storm etc. Having said that its still a fantastic phone but don't try denying the things it misses out on.
Damn you OnePlus I'm very happy with my OnePlus 6t but now I want this one because it's everything my OnePlus 6t is only better. This is why I hate watching phone reviews because it makes you want to upgrade to early LOL
They’re not saying it’s a cheap phone, because it isn’t. Like you said yourself, they’re saying it’s cheaper, it’s more affordable, more attainable, and offers a better value proposition.
Hey there, staunch Apple supporter and user here; I love it! Excellent value proposition and an undeniable contender in the market. I love my 8 Plus and I really wouldn’t trade it for anything right now, but if I were in the market for an Android phone right now, the OP7P would be very high on my list!
But the OP7 is different from the OP7P; the OP7 is a slightly rehashed 6T with minor modifications and hasn’t been announced for other markets yet, where 3a is already widely available. The OP7P is a winner in every regard, but until we get the OP7 in other markets, the 3a may still be a better value proposition for us.
Reread my response - I never mentioned the camera. I said (and will say, again) that until other markets get the more affordable OnePlus 7, the Pixel 3a will be one of the best value contenders. Markets like the United States are not getting the OnePlus 7 yet, we are only getting the OnePlus 7 Pro, which is significantly more expensive than the Pixel 3a and 3a XL, and the regular OnePlus 7 that is available for you in India. But I will argue that the Pixel camera is the absolute best in the industry, for most uses, and will be one of the highest selling points over all other value contenders that compromise too greatly on camera hardware. Performance is adequate enough, so it comes down to usability, and when you factor in a class-leading camera, excellent software and hardware support, and the widespread availability that the OnePlus 7 doesn’t have yet, it makes the 3a/3a XL very compelling buys outside of India.
I never thought I'd see The Verge talk so good about an Android phone. This reminds me of the days when they were Apple biased. The again in those days iPhones were ahead of the pack.
IPhone mentioned 11 seconds into the video. It's an Android phone, so how about starting off the review talking about and comparing it to you know, Android phones! 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
he compared the price to an iphone and a different android phone, and it's not like he's comparing the geekbench scores to exclusively different os devices smh
I know lots of people talk about the audio on the OnePlus...but with my 1+"6 the speaker works itself in much like high-end Audio drivers.I noticed that after 6months the audio was louder and much clearer. Its like a new tight fit that will sort itself out and should then last pretty long as a result

You rock!
The Oneplus 7 pro has a ppi of 516 and not, as mentioned in the video, a ppi of 561!!!
What is the point of wireless charger if its going to do 0-100% over a lifetime when same can be done in 20min! American reviewers need to buy brain...seriously
+ wasting half of the electricity
Exactly. I have been using oneplus 5 for 2 years now. I would gladly take 20w wired over 5w wireless charging. Its just so much faster
Seriously.
plus: I just don't get the point that you need to actually ATTACH the phone to the thing to do WIRELESS charging
@@zhetaolu963 its wireless because you don't need to connect a wire to the phone like some sort of puzzle piece. You just place and go. In the future you will be able to have truely wireless charging where you can just enter an area like your home and it will begin charging. But it all has to start somewhere

MKBHD said it had not great battery life and The Verge said it had great battery life
🤔
Different folks having different views with different experiences, it makes sense. Dave2D also said the batt life was solid.
Does it have nfc
Ok. Never thought i would say in the past that but having android pure now is kinda more like a disadvantage that an advantage
why so?
This and MKBHD reviews were the ones I liked the moest. Everyone else was just hating on the thing. It offers amazing things for great value. I have a pixel 3 XL right now and it lags like crazy, I use the UI 90 percent of the time and the camera 10 percent of the time. I want the UI to work better then the camera. Also if I am tempted for the pixel camera I can just get the GCAM mod which will solve the problem. Amazing phone for great value. Buying it day one!
"Great phones don't need to cost $1000"
.....unless you're a Canadian q_q
I just saw the phone yesterday. The screen is gorgeous and butter smooth. You have to see it for yourself.
You forgot to mention that it has no micro sd card slot. Considering that Micro SD Express card slots are just around the corner, this is a deal breaker for me. These slots are going to help create a gaming revolution on Android phones where games are finally able to be 20 Gb's+ each.
you gonna put 20gb game on phone?
@@MrRidocks no SD card , Wireless normal and reverse, IP68 😂, IR blaster, Jack 3.5 🤣,😂😂😂
So far the only review that's lauded the camera
OnePlus started off as the super loaded budget phone. Holding up to only one of those now
Technically you're still getting a flagship phone for half the price of iPhone/Samsung and other mainstream competitors. I say still holds up
@@r0z3d that's true but it has gone out of range for some people like myself already.
they are releasing a regular one plus 7 later which is their normal standard
Awesome presentation! Liked it. Very much.
This phone looks promising but having a pixel really changed my prepective of having the best camera and once you have that you dont wanna go back
@Prashant Patil yes to me it still isnt the same i have installed on other devices yet i always run back to my pixel
I want a version of this with a little smaller screen so badly
Imagine the cost if Apple had these specs (minus the Snap 855)
Jo Thank you for shopping at Apple that will be 5 grand and a severed chicken head XD
Idk but in the last review of this phone I saw, which was by MKBHD, he said it CANT ratchet the refresh rate down like the iPad Pro. But One Plus said it’ll be releasing updates in the future to enable that. But it isn’t there yet.
Dieter says battery gets 1.5 days.
MKBHD says 4.5 hours.
yeah that's what i am thinking! if it's really 4.5 hrs then that's a deal breaker to me.
@@viveksabbani6133 dude are you fuqin stupid??? How can it be 4.5 hours .. ? That's completely dumbness..Even if you Do gaming then it would run ATLEAST 4-6 hours..
Mr. Mobile also said 1.5 days. MKBHD always tend to have a shorter battery life.
Gotta also consider the constant locked 1440p 90hz display which is the reason battery drains quick
MKBHD said screen on time. In this review he said total time including standby time.
Love your review! Very honest and fun
I'm also not a fan of Hugh display I wish one plus will launch small display phone 5.5" maybe without curve display like galaxy s10e... It's great to handle and carry in pocket... I will definitely go for it if it happens
even if your not a fan of huge display you have to admit it looks fantastic
when does it come out for purchase?
This might be it. This might just be the perfect phone.
Too big
love you deiter. wish you had talked about how cool warp charging is considering some companies are still not even providing any sort of fast charging at a $1000+ price tag. It's the principle
Xiaomi had screen recorder built-in to its mid-tier phones from last 2 years.
Which I find so ridiculously useless... The percentage of people who actually record their screen is minimal, and there are hundreds of apps to be downloaded for that purpose, instead of having it as bloatware (for the 90% of people who would never record their phone screen).
@@GiovanaSimmer nah it's useful

yeah and some other ytbers said it's really good, im confused. I do trust marques but I mean...
Will the screen recoding come to the 6t via software update?
where is headphone jack..wireless charging ..nd ip rating??
The phone will be fine if you drop it in water and lift it up within 5 min and that's enough for me. No flagship phone has a headphone jack so get used to it. And wireless chargeing is super slow compare to the warp. Also the phone is like 500 cheaper than it's competition so I'm willing to get past these small things
@@daviderwin2808 "No flagship phone has a headphone jack (...)" -> Samsung Galaxy S10
@@MJarthur95 no people will get over the jack when Bluetooth headphones reach the consistency and audio quality of the jack at similar prices. Until then you get over consumers demands
Because just like fast charging has its benefits so too does wireless. Its much more convienient... No wires thst will break.. Especially great in a car or as a case etc... And won't harm your battery life in the long run like a fast charger will. Etc
And a phone isn't waterproof. Only water resistant. The fact they have no IP rating speaks to how screwed you will be in the event you drop it in water or get caught in a thunder storm etc.
Having said that its still a fantastic phone but don't try denying the things it misses out on.
@@hudsonm2010 I forgot it had that but still the 7 pro is a steal

It's funny how people try to sale 700$ phone by saying it's cheaper then others one.
Atleast don't say it's a cheap Phone it's cost 700$.

What launcher and setup is Dieter using on the OnePlus 7 Pro (and the Pixel 3 & Galaxy S10 as well)? Looks pretty nice
Pixel Launcher?
No headphone jack...no party
most important is how front camera activates and not a word on that
after watching Marques 4k reviews, this 1080p feels medieval
Not only that color in verge videos lacks depth

Once again OnePlus had done a great job the oneplus 7 and 7pro...
Great review!
bringing cheap solutions including optical sensor & pop out camera and calling it a day doesn't make it better than the S10 & iPhone, the Verge

Ignoring all of the other ways this phone is better doesn't make you smart.
Really interested by this one as an S9 Plus user
Pixel 3a is dead (india price 40k > OnePlus7 33k)
But the OP7 is different from the OP7P; the OP7 is a slightly rehashed 6T with minor modifications and hasn’t been announced for other markets yet, where 3a is already widely available. The OP7P is a winner in every regard, but until we get the OP7 in other markets, the 3a may still be a better value proposition for us.
@@apollosbrownies just because it has a better camera it doesn't mean it is valued phone
Hmm how long did the Verge have the OP7 Pro? MKBHD had some completely opposite comments about battery life and the camera.
Yes by the way we need headphone jack
