While there are a couple of things that I don't agree with him on, He is very clear on the Gospel of Jesus and His finished work alone. I have to wonder if you even took much time to listen to Him. Correct and 1CORINTHIANS 3 talks about loss of rewards for the carnal Christian. Plus Paul says in romans why should we continue to live in sin in romans 6,7. Who loves the physical outcome of sin anyways: untimely death from drugs, disease from sexual promiscuity, jailtime for breaking laws, and loneliness for treating people in a carnal selfish way.

@@baconhair5609 Before you were a believer. When you got into trouble with those of the world. Did those consequences not bother you? Those consequences that made you realize you were wrong for your words, actions, or both. Were disciplines that were held to you by people. But ultimately, who inspired those people to hold you accountable? That was God. The very people who corrected us as unbelievers, always did it out of love for wanting you to be better. That's how God works through mankind in this world.
The moment God takes away his holy spirit from this earth, those very people who witness our wrongful actions will show justice back by the same actions as revenge onto us without restraint. Which will display the world as Hell on earth.
Sin will always be about until God eradicates it from eternity. As a Christian, or non-Christian. Sin will always be abound to you to fall into, and whether you mean to do it or not. God still loves you, and not only that. He forgives you, but sometimes when you stray too much, for too long. He will see you out for a means of worldly correction and discipline by using those closest to you as a means to correction through consequences. For consequences are the only way to make a person wake up to themselves from the state their in.
As long as you believe in Jesus Christ, your Sins will be forgiven, and forgotten at judgement. If you don't believe, then you have everything to worry about.

We do not teach a reliance upon our own self-righteousness. Salvation never hinges on any loading of works. Nonetheless, to walk in the spirit (after being saved), you must choose to yield yourself to him. You must decide to make the right decisions, and one may call that works. That plays no part with regard to your justification before God. It is your practical day to day sanctification. It’s the 1 John fellowship aspect. Yes. These are the works of faith. Peace. Joy. Freedom. Forgiveness of sins. These are the works we do by preaching the gospel. Every Christian with the gospel of God coming out of their mouths is doing works. This is in no way saying our works save us. But God’s work saves us. These are the good works we were created in Christ Jesus to do. So everyone fighting over works Vs no works need to relax & realize YES we are doing good works by preaching the gospel, the works of GOD, not our flesh. ONLY God is GOOD. This is why it’s called GOOD WORKS. The flesh profits nothing. When referring to Christian works we are in no way referring to our dead works of the flesh, but the work of God’s grace accomplished through faith in Christ Jesus.

Hyper-grace says that the Father always approves of the believer, irregardless of walk. That is not true. A believer is always in the family of God, but not always approved. Biblical grace includes chastisement when believers get out of line.
Hyper-grace isn't biblical grace. If you are without chastisement, you must have a different father than the One in the Bible.

@FaithAloneSavesForever chastisement isnt "punishment" it is discipline and we "hyper-gracers" believe in that. Obviously. You people are just creating a strawman because by your definition of these terms you show you dont understand it. It isn't there isnt chastisement or that God hasn't prepared works for us, it's the the means and the end of that chastisement/discipline are the same. That is that by way of discipline God shows you even more and more how you are sinful and in dyer need of the savior incontrast to the worlds idea that YOU can accomplish it, you can do it. Rather in Christ the more you let go and stop "working" the more His powerbis manifest and you actually bare fruit unto to God from a place of rest. Not you saying I'm gona do the works and im going to please God and recieve a wage. It doesn't work like that. Anything you do in that mindset you are doing it in the flesh. It us who glory not in the flesh but rather we hear and believe and recieve in God's do time both what to want to do and also WHAT to do as it is Him working in and through us.
In other words You guys wanna see tangible work? And you ignore that god might be doing a totally different work , and a person might be something a subtle and as simple as something in their hearts that they've been dealing with their whole lives yet you might not see this "big change".
Nevertheless we are encouraged unto good works as long as we have this hope.
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain?
Theres paul teaching the same....by the way Paul was a hyper grace preacher.
The Greek words hyper and perisseúō combined in the phrase hyperperisseúō translates to "hyper abounded" or "super abounded". Paul the apostle uses this phrase in reference to "grace hyper abounding" or "hyper grace"

He does cite where Paul rebuked Peter for caving in to the Judaisers who were sent by James who were teaching circumcision and mixing in the Jewish Law for salvation. He is only saying that James' own disciples were mistaking his teachings on grace-works salvation. GJ's videos focuses on salvation through faith alone. Now these guys can defend themselves but i can tell you thay i habe sen Daniel comment some weird.stuff on their videos. Sin debt paid in full. Sometimes we sin without even realizing it. Sometimes in our fleshes weakness we sin, and sometimes habitually, I believe that is known as iniquity. However, if Jesus blood and Resurrection didn't cover our sins we are still sinners and still in our sins and doomed for hell. No matter how "good" anyone thinks they are, we will never be "good enough" in God's perfect view. Sin is called falling short. James 2:10 If any man keeps the whole law, but offends in any one of them, he is guilty of all. This verse shows why ALL of us need the Savior. The Hardest part for men and women is admitting we are not good, we are sinners, and believing Jesus died for those sins. Once we swallow our pride and realize we have fallen short, and no matter how "good" or righteous we think we are receive that Gospel by faith, we are sealed. Rely on The Savior, not we the sinners. Chronicles 7:14 says, "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land". This verse suggests that repentance is necessary to receive forgiveness and salvation.

    • @BibleLine

Context is important. Solomon had finished the house of the Lord, and he had prayed intently toward the Lord. God had heard his prayer, and this was part of God’s response. God was dealing with his people Israel, and He wanted them to obey him.
This verse is not stating that they must “turn from their wicked ways” to be saved into eternal life. That’s ridiculous that one might even suggest such. Israel knew the promised Messiah, and they knew they need only believe as Abraham believed.
This verse is about God’s expectation of service toward his people. If they serve; they’ll be blessed. If they turn away, they’ll be cursed.

why do you equate chastening to punishment? This is a human mindset which does not line up with the nature of God. Yes he does chasten (paideuo in the Greek). ie correct/instruct/teach. That is what chastening is. It’s not God making you sick to teach you a lesson or killing you. It is him instructing you in righteousness, because you are his child. If you sin… he instructs in righteousness. If you stumble… he corrects in righteousness. All to lead to spiritual growth, which is the fruit of righteousness. The reason it is sad/painful in the moment is because you realise that you have fallen short of who you are, but it leads to repentance and thus fruit of righteousness/spiritual growth because you have now learnt not to do that again.

I hadn’t known about David Benjamin until I came across some of his videos literally this morning 😂 but from what I’ve seen he is teaching truth, about the nature of God and about the nature of the believer. A flawed understanding of the true nature of God would lead us to read our ideas into the text. This is what the Old Testament fathers and the nation of Israel did. They saw God as a tyrant who needed to be appeased by sacrifices (even though he did not desire them - Psa 40:6; Psa 51:16; Hos 6:6; Jer 7:21-23; Heb 10:4-10). They saw God as one who kills even though Satan is the one who kills, steals and destroys. God is the one that gives life and provides an escape from temptation. God would never use the means of the devil to teach his children.

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  5 місяців тому +24

Well, allow me to throw out any notion of these words “punishment, chastening and condemnation” as being hell or separation from God spiritually. This would be in the context of an already saved person. I’m sure we agree that there is no eternal hell or condemnation set out for the saved believer in Christ.
Nonetheless, we use the term punishment and chastening (even Romans 8:1 refers to condemnation being possible for the believer who is fleshly - again, not eternal condemnation) pretty interchangeably.
We know that everything God does is righteous, and he cannot sin against us.
1 Cor. 11 makes it clear that God brought sickness, weakness and even death upon some who had sinned.
God brought death to Ananias and Sapphira.
God was very much not pleased with Simon the sorcerer.
1 John makes mention of a sin unto death for the believer. We tend to think this is an amount of sin as opposed to a specific sin.
Hebrews 12 details the chastening hand of God that can be quite severe. It is NOT fun at all. It’s not wrong to say that is punishment toward the believer for living fleshly or backsliding doctrinally.
Hebrews 10 details God as a “consuming fire,” and this is very much in reference to “his people.”
1 Cor. 10 details catastrophic and deadly events that came upon those who disobeyed in the wilderness.
Yes, God is a loving Father, but part of that love is pouring out consequences for our often fleshy, unbelieving, rebellious decisions! To split a hair concerning our word choice is something I desire you to be unconcerned with. We hear you, we do.

Trent, in love. In what world was Ananias and Sapphira saved. And none of your cross references not one point to the conclusions you make or teaching your trying to support that there is even more punishment for sins of the flesh after Jesus Christ paid it all and became our chastisement of peace. You really Do not understand what chastisement is and you put people back under the law which was done away with.
Free grace is way wrong on chastisement and rewards. David gets James and psalms incorrect.
I suggest anyone who reads this fact check these verses used and do ya own study and let the bible say what it says. Bc lighting bolts from God after calvary is unbiblical there isn't 1 single new testament example. Ananias and sapphira not saved.

How would it be “tempting the Spirit of the Lord” if they were not saved? Why also was there “great fear” that came upon the church? Why would believers need to fear?
Yes, Jesus was chastised for our sins. He paid our sin debt. Nonetheless, believers do still sin, and they sin often. Does God turn a blind eye? Positionally, we are in Christ, and that never changes.
It isn’t going under the law, but it is obedience through love. Love is the fulfilling of the law. Am I “putting you under the law” by quoting Christ when he says to love God and love neighbor? You must choose to do those things, unless you believe they come automatically.

Seriously can you guys use common sense? Yes it is.
Being born again in the "baptism" of the Holy Spirit.
Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal of a good conscience to God-through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
      - 1 Peter 3:21
And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could prevent God’s way?” And when they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”
      - Acts 11:15-18
While Peter was still speaking these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the word. And all the circumcised believers who came with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone refuse water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for a few days.
      - Acts 10:44-48
He saved us, not by works which we did in righteousness, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
      - Titus 3:5
Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.
      - John 3:4-6
"Flesh is flesh" being born from man/mother
"Spirit is spirit" being born of God
      John 1:12-13 (KJV):
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

Hebrews 10:26 says, “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left.”
This verse speaks to the seriousness of willfully continuing in sin after fully understanding the truth of the gospel. It’s important to understand that the writer of Hebrews is addressing believers who have been taught the gospel and know the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice for their sins. The warning here is about rejecting that sacrifice by choosing to persist in sin as though Jesus’ sacrifice had no effect.
The passage isn’t referring to a single sin or occasional failure but rather a hardened, ongoing rejection of God’s truth and grace. This type of deliberate sinning suggests a state of rebellion where a person repeatedly rejects Jesus' gift of salvation and His authority over their life. In such a case, no additional sacrifice remains because Jesus is the only way to forgiveness; rejecting Him leaves no other option.
The purpose of this warning is to encourage believers to remain faithful, take sin seriously, and not abuse God’s grace. The writer of Hebrews is urging readers to stay close to God, rely on Jesus’ sacrifice, and walk in obedience. It’s also a reminder of the sufficiency of Jesus’ sacrifice and the importance of not taking it for granted.

You are not spiritually condemned, and there is no fear of hellfire. Nonetheless, God is never okay with sin; I would argue especially when his children continue to sin. Sure, it’s a healthy respect of God and fear of the chastening and judgment if we lack service toward him. James 2:12-13, 1 Cor. 5:10-11, 1 Cor. 3:10-16, Hebrews 10:26-39.

Amen brother. I have discussed this with them before also. They say Christ is our reward. No, Christ is our salvation, rewards are earned. First Corinthians 3:11-15. And there is the chastening of believers, who are living in sin. Colossians 3:5-6.
Case in point. First Corinthians 5:5. Turn such a one over to Satan to kill the flesh so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. This was a born again believer who was sleeping with his fathers wife.
He was about to lose his life, and the rewards he could have had in heaven, but the man was still saved so as by fire. Only his rewards he could have had in heaven were burned up.
In second Corinthians the man got out of that sinful relationship and tried to come back in to fellowship with the church. Then, the church would not accept him back. Paul said the man has suffered enough, you need to let him back in.
They say Christ is our reward. They do not understand the discipline of God for living in sin. And rewards for service. It is true, God cannot lie. John 6:47. But there are rewards in heaven for the faithful in Christ Jesus. But once saved always saved is salvation by grace apart from any works. Romans 4:5-8. Romans 3:26-28. God cannot lie. John 6:40, and John 6:29. John 10:28-29. Hebrews 13:5. But God will discipline His children if we do not discipline ourselves.
Having been a child of God for 76 years, I have experienced the chastening of the Lord. If you have not the bible says we are bastards and not sons. The good news. Hebrews 13:5. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never cast us out. John 6:37-39. John 10:28-29. No one can pluck us from His hand.

The substance changes not actions. Otherwise you will withhold yourself and suppress the new content of yours which is the Holy Spirit, quenching Him, trying to comply with the written letter and that leads to Hebrews 6.
Apostle Paul definitely got a taste of it, that is why he spent almost all of his epistles admonishing against checking yourself with the law. “Those who love ME, do MY commandments” = “MY ship know MY voice”- which is direct leading of the Holy Spirit.
    Spirit revives, letter deadens.

    10:03 Hebrews 12:9.
Fathering of our flesh by flesh is distinct from fathering of our spirit by Spirit. God's Word is Spirit and Truth.
God our Father, chastens and trains us primarily by speaking His Word and by His Spirit convicting the believer of his/her righteousness.
And God can even use natural consequences to our flesh as a result of our sinning in the flesh to get through to us
and even in our sinning bring us back to repentance, to trust in Him.
    11:50 Hebrews 12:11.
The result of receiving God's chastening, i.e. hearing and receiving His Word, is that we turn to His grace and Truth, recognize that it is sufficient, rest in that,
and turn away from relying on our flesh to try to earn God's love by keeping commandments.

Think about this pastor: Concerning the 2nd question, you are telling your listeners that someone who does not know the Gospel can know they are saved because of God's chastisement. How do you know as a believer that you are saved by looking at what you are going thru like a health or other issue caused by an accident, sickness, or natural calamity or God's chastening? As a Muslim, Mormon, Jehovalh Witness I could say I'm saved because I am going thru this or that problem because God is chastening me. There is no evidence or proof that a person can have except that you believe the promise of God upon belief that He gave you everlasting life.

Good to hear your opinion on Gregg Jackson and David Benjamin. I do believe they are preaching the right gospel, but you're also right in that they take things too far, and they say things like "God would not punish the believer". They believe there is no chastening from God. That was the first red flag I got from them. And then Benjamin started preaching this view that James 2 was written when James thought salvation was by works + faith, and therefore James is just a historical book showing us James's point of view, which was in error.
This was really the red flag that caused me to stop watching Benjamin. He is saying that James is not inspired. Because the book is written by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it's not portraying a historical point of view, it's making statements of fact, which cannot be in error if the book is inspired. And it is inspired.
so they do preach the right gospel but they have some error that they teach

Sometimes God chastens us outwardly. He called my uncle home early. He had given his life to Christ when he was 9. As an adult he lived a bisexual lifestyle and got AIDS and died at 32. He recommitted His relationship with God and confessed His sins. But he brought the due penalty in His flesh from his sexual immortality. we know He's with God tho. Because He believed.

~ Untrue that they believe the book of James is false teaching OR that James should be “put on a shelf”.
They teach that there’s good reason that James is included in the canon. It gives historical and theological context and a record of the early Church’s development. James’ epistle represents the perspective of the Jewish Believers in Jerusalem, who didn’t yet have an understanding of justification by faith, as it was revealed to Paul. Jewish Believers in Jerusalem had not YET reconciled their long-standing traditions and understanding of the Mosaic law with the new covenant teachings that the ascended Christ had revealed to Paul.
~”They hardly ever talk about the gospel anymore.”
Seriously? I’m pretty confident that they make the gospel of our salvation clear in every video and in their writings.
      ~”IF they’re clear on the gospel….”
My goodness. If you don’t know that THEY ARE CLEAR on the gospel, should you be speaking on their beliefs at all? How can you not know (“IF…..”) their eternal salvation message, yet have so much to say?
~”To satiate their pride”, is the reason they speak?
A statement made based on nothing but a blind assumption, and sounds like it’s said out of pure spite, because YOU DON’T KNOW THESE BRETHREN, THEIR HEARTS, NOR THEIR MOTIVE.
If you did, you’d know better.
~”There’s no chastising in the Christian life”
A completely false statement. They do not believe, nor teach such. They DO speak of God’s chastising His Children.
If the disagreement is about WHY and HOW God chastises His children, your statement is false.
I could go on, but that’s enough to establish that you’ve mischaracterized and misrepresented your BRETHREN.

Convictions of the heart. “The Holy Spirit will convict the world concerning sin because they do not believe in Me.”
That’s the discipline. Not trusting in Christ. Not living under grace. When we believe in Christ it is the end of the law for righteousness. When we don’t trust in Christ we go back into the law & works of the flesh & then the Holy Spirit reminds us we are forgiven & saved by grace & we believe on Jesus & enter His rest. The works of the Spirit are evident. Peace. Joy. Hope. Eternal life. Forgiveness of sins. Do not submit again to a yolk of slavery, law. When you do God disciplines you. By what? Taking away peace. Why? Because you are trusting in your works. Then what do I do? I stop trusting in my works. I trust in Christ. Then what happens? I have peace again. This is how God disciplines us. If you have no peace or no joy you are being disciplined because you are trusting in your works. When you trust in Christ then God gives you peace & joy back because you corrected the mistake & put your faith back in Christ.

      Why?
Your works are on trial at the Bema seat, not your faith. Your faith gets you to heaven in the first place. The judgment seat is to determine your profitability and rewards.

I listened to what David Benjamin said. He did Not say that James was not inspired... which is exactly what Jesse just accused him of. The Bible clearly lays out that the early disciples did not immediately understand the mystery that would later be revealed to Paul. All of the way to acts chapter 10, Peter was clearly confused about salvation to the Gentiles. Acts clearly shows the early apostles struggling to understand how much of the law they should adhere to. I like Cucuzza, Yankee and Onorato, but David Benjamin‘s explanation of justification is more in harmony with Paul’s epistles, and a whole of scripture. I can’t say the same for Yankee and Onorato, but I’ve heard Cucuzza engage in at least some of what I think is Galatian error.

@@Donasavedbygrace I agree. They somehow understand the word homologeo to mean that they are confessing sins and every time they sin, they lose fellowship. I think it's hard for them to understand, that it's about acknowledging sin when we see it or realize it in our lives. They misuse Heb 10:2 to say we have 'no more consciousness of sins'. I have dealt with hypergrace over the years, that is what led me to write the articles. There isn't even consistency in the movement. @@ScottWLyons Respectfully, I think you should take a moment to re-examine your post. Believe me when I say 'I mean no disrespect', but your own writing here elevates both David and Gregg.
I'll admit this wasn't the best critique on Jesse's part. Having listened to Gregg I can say that he, at the least, does give the Gospel regularly. But that doesn't dismiss the fact that they, and others like them, have made the Book of James more contentious than it already was. Moreover it is not Galatianizing to advocate for believers to follow the law (i.e. not to sin) as a matter of conduct. It would be Galatianizing to say that the law must be kept to be saved or to prove that one is saved. Yet none of the pastors you've spoken against here, to my knowledge, have done that.
Know that I don't mean any of this in malice. I'm actually more than a bit heartbroken by all of this. Many of us are already without a physical church body to meet with, and now this controversy has us all at each other's throats. This is not how we're supposed to be.

Hebrews 10:38. Romans 1:17 Go look at Gregg Jackson's hateful rebuttal to this video. He adds to Hebrews 10:38 and Romans 1:17. Now the just shall live by faith. That means we are going to live (have eternal life by faith). Gregg says, "now the just shall live the CHRISTIAN LIFE by faith". He doesn't understand what that verse is saying. He also thinks that chastisement is just God teaching us his word. That doesn't sound grievous to me. Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. He also doesn't know what the REAL Galatian error is. It's when the Judaizers came the region of Galatia and started to preach another gospel than the one that was given to them. They were preaching you have to keep the law TO BE SAVED. That's the real Galatian error. It had nothing to do with rewards. Because he does not believe we will receive rewards for our service after we are saved, 1st Corinithians 3:8-15 he has to believe that James was in error because James taught about the judgement seat of Christ and profit. (rewards earned for faithful service) James 2:12. And now David Benjamin has now had an "inspiration" saying that the book of 1st John should not be taught. REALLY? Not to mention that the book of Psalms is also in error. Now getting back to Gregg. About a year ago in his comments, he attacked preachers like Ralph Yankee, Bob Wilkins, Norm Diamante, and now Jesse Martinez. He said to mark and avoid these people. It was just recently when we started to defend of where we stand and all of a sudden we are the ones attacking them. Interesting. David Benjamin would prefer you ditch the bible and read his teachings. Gregg Jackson took down his whole website and said he would not be doing anymore videos for this family's sake. Turned out to be a lie. He was getting attacked in the comments about his Galatian error garbage and started another site. He said that ALL of his past teachings would be on Benjamin's site. The only teachings that Benjamin kept were the ones of him teaching about Galatian error. Sounds to me Benjamin got to him and deceived him of taking all of his past teachings down because he thought they were wrong. Gregg Jackson used to love Ralph Yankee Arnold a few years ago. Even made a video about him and praising him for teaching a clear gospel. He also used to be correct of James. He has changed all his beliefs and now only listens to what David Benjamin teaches. This is the REAL reason why he took down his old site. David Benjamin is a brainwashing cult leader. How many more books of the bible can we throw out or say is in error???

Just because we’re saved doesn’t mean we can go on living however we want to and expect no consequences.
