We have to remember, they're misunderstanding scripture, and have become deceived. In a way, they're victims, but then they're victimizing others with a false gospel of works salvation. For instance, Ray Comfort preaches works-salvation, but it's likely because he misunderstood the meaning of "repentance" to be saved, and his belief system has cemented as he's aged. It's with good intentions, but false gospel still exists, and is harmful.

I've studied this belief system for the last year, and some of us came up with a term for their belief system. We call it "Loss of Salvation Theology" (LOST). This LOST belief is dividing the church today even more than Calvinism. The problems with LOST:
    1. LOST imposes a philosophical lens on top of scripture. It says that if you can believe and be saved, you can un-believe and be un-saved. This is simply a negative inference fallacy, because the opposite is not always true.
    2. The LOST view engenders a doctrine of continued faithfulness to maintain salvation (ie. works, but called "continued faith"). It's no different than the Calvinist "Perseverance of the Saints," which is works-salvation. They just replace the 'works' with "faithfulness," but it's still works. This makes LOST 1 point Calvinism.
    3. LOST implies that Jesus did not die for all our sins, or His sacrifice was insufficient to save.
    4. LOST implies belief/faith itself has saving power (they call it "saving faith"), which it doesn't. Belief itself doesn't save; God's grace via Jesus Christ saves us. Belief is just the means through which we are saved.
    5. LOST ignores scripture. This is the big problem here. Scripture tells us we are saved, have eternal life, are sealed, are co-heirs with Christ, that no one can snatch us from God's hand, and that God will never forsake us. Also, we're children of God.
Like Calvinism, LOST is not Christian. It's a false gospel of works-salvation, so please warn others against this LOST. Many anti-Calvinists and newer Christians fall into LOST, so please remind them they have eternal life and are saved eternally once they believed.

@@BibleLine Sure thing, and thanks. My wife and I spent the last year studying both their theology and behavioral traits (they can be incredibly horrible), and a lot of what we do now is help believers avoid being deceived by LOST. [14] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be SAVED; yet so as by fire. [16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy(IN THIS LIFE GOD CORRECTS THOSE HE LOVES); for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

When debating someone against eternal security, try this argument.... Can we agree that God knows what happens in the future ? If so, he'd know if when you die you're saved or not. So, do you stop being one of his children periodically if you can lose salvation ? Can I sin my way out of it today, gain it back tomorrow, then lose it next week ? This is a true argument to bring forth, in the same sense bring forth the parable of the prodigal son. Notice how the prodigal son lost his inheritance but never lost his sonship. Sure he fell into sin and suffered dearly for it but notice how he never lost his father's love and his position as a son even while laying in pigs mud. The moment he came back to his father he gained his inheritance back and a celebration came with that, there is a clear difference in the lose of inheritance and the so called " lose of salvation " it's illogical to make an argument against the promise of eternal life that was given and not earned by ourselves, it was earned by jesus christ it's saying his work is not enough it's not an insult to us it's an insult to the lord himself

If you conceited you will be cut off. Yes it is a sin, the reason it is not covered by the blood of Christ this is effectively uncovering yourself of the blood, the hebrews painted the blood on their doors they were saved whilst inside but if they stepped outside… pretty self explanatory. Whilst you can argue you are sealed with a guaranterr, the word which is god then argues you can be cut off because you are merely grafted. Of course it would be better if you were sealed unconditionally but we must trust god who is perfect, and his perfect reasoning he chose to merely graft you in… for all the reasons you aforementioned. Of course while I’m in the house I’m sav3d by the blood, not by works and my salvation is guaranteed. True true and true. God plainly stated the reason why he cuts so you’ve got to ask the question… why can’t you answer your own question. Seems bizarre. We are in a sad state whe. Everyone treats their salvation like a coin being lost down the back of a couch. Very petty very vain. We are talking about the shedding of his righteous blood for our sins. It is not an unconditional guarentee. He even goes to great lengths to remind us what it does cover… highest mountain, deepest valley so we shouldn’t be like “ oh that guarantee is easily broken”. On the other hand we should be careful. Very careful indeed because if god promises to cut you off you can be sure he will . If he didn’t he’d be a mere mortal. Those that argue it’s unbelievers or apostates are imposing a false dycotamy. There is nothing in the text that even remotely justifies that arguement. It all seems based on wanting to “rest securely” rather than actually engaging on what god is saying. Jesus actuallly instructed his disciples to “stay awake” . The reasoning to have a safe secure salvation whilst justified, is a human one not a divine one. Human justification under stable… but will fully sinful and ungodly. Of course I don’t want god to but he keeps his promises, he surely will cut me off if I get so conceited. Towards that end I earnestly pray for all, not just myself.

The Bible says we are justified by faith & works BOTH. The Bible it's not faith alone that is a saving faith. Faith without works is a dead faith, the faith of devils.

An eye opening understanding that I got from watching Yankee Arnold was when he explained that not every time the terms salvation, saved, saving is used in scripture always refers to the soul and its eternal destiny. And differentiating justification ( salvation) from discipleship.
That cleared up so much confusion for me even though I knew that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone and that salvation cannot be lost ever.
It is so very sad how the plain gospel of grace has been hijacked and twisted leaving many unsure of their salvation or undo, maybe not even have salvation at all.
I can’t thank this channel enough and people like Yankee and Tom Cucuzza for their commitment and continual videos on the biblical gospel message as they try to teach people who are either caught up in the misrepresentation of it and those that are lost and need the truth before they hear the lies.
What I hear a lot in those that teach loss of salvation regarding John 10:28 is , “ well you can jump out of God’s hand “ which totally negates that he marks us as his, gives us the Holy Spirit and is faithful to the end when we at one point placed our trust in him for his free gift.
And in I Corinthians 6:9-11 they misuse that as a litmus test to prove one is saved if they don’t do those sins any more or say if you do those you weren’t really saved because you didn’t change .
They fail to understand that this passage is referring to our identity and how after we have believed in Christ , we are not identified as those things but used to be. We are now a new creation BUT STILL HAVE THAT OLD FLESH NATURE.
I am so grateful to the good Lord for leading me to these channels In approximately 2020 so I can live in a security in Christ like I’d never known even though at that point I’d been born again for 39 years.

@@Wukles by abiding in Christ. I would say go read Sauls story in 1st samuel. Or ezekiel. Im not coming at you with pride but trying to share some verses to show we cant go live however we feel like and expect to be saved. The parable of the servant that was forgiven is a good example. He was forgiven, he didnt forgive, and the forgiveness he was given was taken away.
Romans 11:16-25 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
      And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Hebrews 12:2-11 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Exactly there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus! My favorite verse!
I actually was raised in a pentecostal Arminian church and I cried every Sunday knowing I was never good enough. I knew something was off. Glad I left and now I have peace in Christ!
I now grieve over my sin in a more healthy way, knowing his spirit guides me helps me to deny the flesh way better than under false teaching.
Life is terribly hard at least it is for me, so my question at the time was why did pastors heap even more burden on the congregation when they are already at the breaking point... I knew It didn't make sense. I broke down overwhelmed and almost was done with going to any church for the hypocrisy that I saw and my poverty was what made me resent it more. It probably was Satan's tactics to make me dislike the church in general.
God knew why I went through it all to make me see I depend solely on Jesus for salvation. And I should have the same grace towards others like me now that I AM SAVED!

I have always understood the branches as being fruit bearing, from works. And we cut ourselves off from bearing fruit or walking in the works He has for us, when we choose to separate ourselves by indulging in flesh-fulness/worldliness/sin. Even as someone who once feared losing salvation, reading this passage any other way made no sense, since it states a person can be grafted back in. I never thought anyone could jump in and out of salvation, but I use to think that a person could walk away, but that’s not Good News. The Good News is all we need to do is believe, because it’s all we can do and it’s the revelation of this Good News that draws us to believe! I was saved when I was four and struggled harshly with false teachings throughout my 46 years. It’s truly amazing how the joy and peace of the Good News takes away desires to sin.

The question I have for these people about 1 Corinthians 9 is do they think eternal life is a reward? In verse 17 and 18 Paul talks about preaching the Gospel to receive a reward, verse 19-23 he explains what he’s doing to receive this reward, verse 24-27 he gives a analogy of running a race to receive a “prize” and how if he doesn’t continue to run this race he won’t get his “prize” he’ll be disqualified from receiving a “prize/reward”. I emphasize prize and reward because Romans 5:11,15-18 and Romans 6:23 to name a few say that eternal life/justification/righteousness/atonement are free gifts so if there free gifts then how can they be a reward or prize?

im not too sure if that is what 1 Corinthians 9:27 is talking about. i think it was more so about Paul setting an example for others, so that when he preaches the Word or the Gospel to anyone(even if he includes life style changes), his preaching would hold weight. if you were to tell others about the Good News and about how much Jesus changed you, yet you were still living a wild and non-convicted life style, your testimony would lose it’s validity. that is why he says "lest i myself be disqualified". i dont think these passages have anything to do with rewards, but more so to do with hypocrisy; a.k.a. practicing what you preach.

The panel of pastors and theologians didn't even speak to verses that support what it takes for one to be saved. So it's a fine line of not knowing if they believe whether their salvation was obtained through grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone. One must believe in Jesus and His redemptive finished work at the cross but none spoke to how one obtains salvation just how one can lose it.
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18
There are many that claim to believe in the Gospel but they either frontload it with their own works for salvation and/or they add works to preserve their salvation. Either Christ paid 100% of our death penalty or they believe Christ died 90% and they have to finish the rest. Christ paid it all; that's the Good News!!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9
Their fruits are what they believe, which is that their good works must be added to Christ's finished work. With that said, it is possible some of the pastors on the panel were saved as believers and yet now, they are erring in their doctrinal interpretation and falling away from the truth. The ones who entered the door by believing in Christ's finished work (death, burial and resurrection) would be saved but will endure chastening here on earth and loss of rewards in heaven. God's gifts are irrevocable; salvation is a gift that cannot be lost.
I hope this helps. Hopefully Trent will weigh in! May God bless!

Put simply, our salvation depends solely on the person and work of Jesus Christ. As we continue to trust in him, we will experience the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives to make us more like Jesus. When we see this happening, our assurance that we truly are one of God's children grows. The Holy Spirit living in you is who guides us to our purpose in Jesus. We must possess the Holy Spirit to be saved. He is necessary for salvation. He is the seal of God, and its the Holy Spirit that brings us into a relationship with the Lord. He transforms your heart and mind, and conforms you into the character of Christ. When the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you upon salvation, we become a temple for the Holy Spirit, or the temple of God. He becomes your helper and teacher, as well as the power and strength to avoid temptations. The Holy Spirit is your evidence you have been Born Again. 1John 2:27 says, But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true-it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

Thank you sir for you input into this, God bless you.
I think we need to establish somethings, when people say OSAS is not true, we aint saying: 1. You work for your salvation.
    2. You should live in fear of going to hell as a beliver
    3. You can earn your Salvation
    4. You are condemned if you sin.
I believe our Salvation is eternal, and that whatever God does from Gods standpoint its forever, But the problem and biases is that we only look at it from Gods standpoint, Yes God didnt need our cooperation before salvation, Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. But when we come into Christ we become a part and a player, and thats why we have our responsibilities, you would see things like walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh, this is speaking to us as participant.
So I want us to establish that we are players who have our parts. A genuine believer should not live in fear of going to hell, I think our place of consensus should be that every believer grow, this argument of loosing ones faith will not even come in the first place if we channel this to believers growth.
Wether you believe in OSAS or not we are brethrens and this shouldnt bring strife as it is already especially in the part of the world I came from. if we place more emphasy on growing believers, this matter wont be up in the first place.
    Thank you.❤

The command to be saved is not to love God, it’s not to work for God, it isn’t to obey God, and it isn’t to try and please him in some way. The only thing a person must do to be saved is believe in Jesus Christ for the full payment of their sin.
God died for all people, and he gives all people the opportunity to believe.

I trusted God everything depended on Him, then what happen was Baptism just like Jesus received in Jordan, or rather(not to blaspheme) like Paul received on the road to Damascus. But in half an hour I had my wildernesses moment, with demons roll in on me, and I flunked it, got deceived.
Am I considered saved? I didn’t put my trust in Grace I had received to rebuke the devil.
So am I saved still? What would happen to us if Jesus had flunked the wilderness testing?
If dispensattionalism is a lie, is me failing the wilderness moment an apostasy?

    Question...
Are these people simply in error? Or do they not actually believe the gospel? I know this might sound like a dumb question. But, aren't these that Paul warns us about- those who bring another gospel?
How am I to understand these men? Are they believers in error, or wolves? How do I tell the difference?

    • @BibleLine

It’s hard to know if they have ever believed the truth because we can’t see faith. They could be saved because they may have believed the true gospel as a child (God knows).
We have to go according to their message (the words they speak). They believe salvation can be lost in one of two ways (essentially). 1) If you continue in a lifestyle of sin and 2) If you stop believing in Christ. They reject eternal security which is crucial to the gospel message. If you’re not saved eternally, then Jesus did no good; your hope is in nothing really.
      Hope this helps some.
We are careful to say “they’re unsaved” or “they’re saved.” We cannot truly know aside from what people say.

@BibleLine if you are not saved eternally Jesus did no good;your hope is in nothing really, you said. It's the opposite of your contention. By nonmeritorious faith Jesus will save you after which by nonmeritous faith His grace and Spirit will cause you not to walk in the flesh and not back to a sinful lifestyle. When you sin, all you need to do is acknowledge it and He gives you the grace of forgiveness. Your need of His grace is lifelong and His grace provision is for a lifetime. So your hope in Him is really for a lifetime. Unlike your concept of a gracious Savior.

    • @CesarDanao
      @CesarDanao Місяць тому

Your concept of eternal salvation is of a powerless, non transforming event that is far removed from those instances of regeneration after people believed the word preached/taught by Jesus and His disciples. ex. Zaccheus LK.19.8-9 ex. 3000 people ACTS 2.41-42 Moreover your concept could not reconcile with passages of scripture that deal with the possibility of losing salvation such as GAL.5.19-21,ROM.8.1,5-6,13 So what you do is to explain away the clear meaning of these scriptures.

@ShamelesslyRed God gave eternal life to the Galatian believers 1.2 being members of Christ's church in Galatia. Like any believer they were saved by grace and faith. EPH.2.8-9 But later on in GAL.5.19-21 they were warned as before that believers who practice such things (as listed above)will not inherit God's kingdom.5.21 Therefore believers ought to continue receiving grace by means of faith to maintain a righteous lifestyle.

Their linguistic gymnastics are truly astounding. Paul wrote a letter to the church in Rome. It is one continuous narrative. I wonder what Paul would say to these people who are literally cherry-picking individual sentences of his and completely misrepresenting what he said to mean the exact opposite. Like you said, if you JUST READ IT, there is no confusion. I can cherry-pick words and sentences out of the Emancipation Proclamation and make Lincoln sound like he hated the black race and wanted to exterminate them. This is the clearest example of the textbook definition of gaslighting that I have ever seen. These people are truly "deceiving and being deceived." I pray that this line of thinking will not ultimately end with them standing before Christ proclaiming "Lord, Lord..." only to have him say, "I never knew you." Their twisting of the plain and clear truth of the gospel is really disturbing.

    27:34
He was using the interpretation of corporate election and applying that to an unbeliever of that corporate group, because he thinks that the "they" is talking to believers because of the "faith" in the other verse. So then he sets up an unfair straw man of the passage, saying that an unbeliever would not just be "cut off" because it says that the "they" had "faith."
The "they" is talking about corporate Israel, period. This has sub groups of believers and unbelievers. The sub groups are irrelevant. Therefore, the corporate group of Gentiles can also be cut off.
Also, when read entirely and properly, the passage rightfully opposes supersessionism (i.e. the reformer doctrine that God replaced Israel with the Church) because there were gentile BELIEVERS who thought that they were "better" than ethnic Israel because of God's revelation being spread to the Gentiles, i.e. the rest of the world. Its all about how God chooses to reveal Himself through people groups, and has nothing to do with eternal salvation.
    Great video!

in Hebrews 6:4, I believe when it begins saying it is impossible i believe he is saying that the whole situation described afterward is impossible. That if hypothetically, you could lose your salvation you wouldnt be able to get it back, if that were true. In the view of the men in the documentary, It would have to mean, that backsliders cant return to the Lord either. And most of them dont believe that. They believe backsliding is loss of salvation but that they can return. Most that I know at least believe that. I believe a christian can backslide but I dont think that equals loss of salvation. The Lord will discipline you and if He doesnt take you home He will eventually bring you back(see Isaiah 57:14-19)...
Also in context the writer of hebrews is trying to let christians know that they need to essentially graduate from the elementary principles of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God aka Salvation. As many christians often, especially as brand new converts have a tendency to believe that every time we sin we can believe we need to repent and get saved again. There does come a point that we need to grow and get rid of that mindset, move forward, and then plainly lets us know in verse 4 that losing your salvation is impossible.

Hebrews 6:6 refers to those who have "fallen away" from their faith, and Hebrews 10:27 says they should expect "a fearful expectation of judgment". It says that a hard heart towards God's teachings, without repentance, can lead to a slow death of faith. I believe if a person just carefully reads the book of Hebrews, with as few preconceptions as possible, they will conclude a person can turn from Christ, become a non-believer, and forfeit salvation. Other New Testament books also teach this sobering truth.
(2 Peter 2:20-22) If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
