That kayak looks like it checks all the boxes. Reminds me of a Viking and a hobie combined that is a convenient size. Seems like it has a little rocker. I love the pockets are up past the seat, built in cup holders (everyone should do this), and simple useful design. Definitely hope to try one of these some day.
Aliex, Been a big fan of the Lightning Kayaks. Well made in the USA but a lot less expensive than other brand pedal kayaks. I’ve always liked that seafoam color too. I just wish they did brown teak EVA option with the seafoam. Would have been a super sick look. Like that they have Power Pole mount in stern…..for motor mounts, but grab handle kinda gets in way there. However, I like molded in grab handles…they don’t dry rot in florida sun like fabric handles. The inside of my Lighting kayaks have also stayed much drier than my Hobies. The Hobies I’ve owned have always had water getting in the hulls. Still like Hobie, but it is irritating. I know you like Old Town. Old Town definitely has the best sealed hulls I’ve been on…I would trust them the most when it comes to offshore pedal kayaks. This Nomad would be great though for offshore…no big hatches to let water in. Nearly swamped Hobie PA last year offshore…waves just kept throwing water into that ridiculously poorly sealed front hatch. Anyway…great vid. ~ Justin
this is a nice old school design :) should do very well off shore and it isn't heavy, I wish they would make it hobie drive ready lol put a 180 on this, boom. Yeah Hobie gets a lot of blind love, they get away with things and when people like us point it out, we get push back and stuff.
Looks a lot like my maui maui by van hunks. Mine has a hook underneith up front which keeps it from rolling back in the back of the truck. I like the seat notches better especially if the chair floats. It doesn't look very secure. Mine has the molded handles. My guess is the hobie prices got to high and this is a competitive model. Is there a battery operated tow machine for the front end? Trying to get an 80# yak uphill is tough with a bad back. If it could pull it up on a grassy bank so much the better.
this boat is rock solid and rotomolded super thick in the USA. I had an outback (direct competitor) and liked it, but this one is the goat. PAs are nice too
The feature on this kayak remind more of the Passport than the Outback in the Hobie lineup, and the Passport is cheaper than that kayak... It's nowhere near the feature of an Outback, and anyone saying to just add a 180 Drive, the price of a 180 Drive would bring the whole thing to Outback price. Just get an Outback instead. It is nice though, is it Passport nice? I would rather save the 10 pounds of rigged weight and get a Passport but that's just me and 200$ but that's just me.
@@stevesafety6743 but it's not in the outbacks league. Maybe comparable to a compass but more likely comparable to a passport. The compass still beats the lightning hands down and the passport is $400 less than the lightning. IDK it just doesn't seem like apples to apples. Maybe we should compare everything to a sundolphin..........

Will the mirage 180 turbo pedal drive work on this nomad kayak ?

Still waiting for mine. I preordered in April. I’m slowly going down the queue. Ready to pick mine up, I did the two kayak pick up Texas location.
Been a Lightning Kayak owner since 2021. I’ve used mine weekly for over 2 years and it’s SOLID; still going strong with minimal issues. 👍🏽
def well built!

I am very impressed with this kayak. Thanks for helping us discover this solid option! Nice! Hoping they get more soon.
I hope so too!
Cant wait to see more on the Nomad. Looking at buying one for my wife to use, and as a back up for a buddy
they are having a hard time making them, I probably won't get to review one
@AliexFolgueira darn, hard time as in trying to keep up with demand?

It looks like a refined 2013 Outback that I loved so much! And a great price! Please send it to Japan-lol!
Haha can you imagine a future where you just buy the kayak and it gets 3d printed at your house ?
I think this is a great alternative to the Outback. Specially if you can stand on it. I would probably pair it with the 180 drive.
it is narrow, id like to flip it soon, lets see definitely 180 drive is the way to go
Love that it’s made in the USA ❤
Great looking kayak! But i love my old town warranty and reverse
hope oldtown does a trident epdl!
Nice made in USA kayaks meet a high quality standard that makes them worth the buy.
Looks like a lot of Hobie's ideas went into this.
yup but it sorts of has its own dna
Awesome kayak! Congratulations!
Aliex that's not just any dog, that's MOJO.
epic doggy

im sorrry but 2k and they cant even mold in a front handle, ill stick with my moken 10 pdl all day that being said love your vids
It’s good alternative to the almost $4K Hobie Outback.
Best place in Florida to buy a kayak
Looks a good kayak does the hobie drive fit this.Good price hope they come to the uk.
Great kayak. What color is that in the video?
Will the hobie mirage 180 peddle drive fit this boat? Trying to find out if the kick up fin system will work with the nomad or strike hd
not direct drop in
It looks like they still have their indiegogo sale for $1100-$1200 picked up too!
MFG lists it for 2199.00. I'd be skeptical.
How much room was on the inside?
Would love to see it on Brazil.
Meaning mr fields rooster time baby 😂 😂 my boy comes to the state I live in and throws a tourny every year
Robert Field pushed these as a Hobie killer years ago...
new version! i wish they would sell an option for less without the drive
Hobie is like Toyota - works forever . Mine is pro angler 2014 .
Kayak shown above is a Kia . Looks nice but nothing behind the cover
Imo Hobies are pretty fragile. Used hard the drive will need repairs often.
It’s literally a Hobie

They had a presale on them and prices were crazy good.
yup
Yes, and they had some still the other day at that price, but pickup in TX. They were very tempting.

Thank Hobie for designing all the features that all the future kayak builders copy.
Hobie copied other brands a lot, specially pelican
I'm not sure how this is a Hobie killer when it's using 20 year old technology. I'm not even a "Hobie Guy" but this ain't it....
price, $2200 vs outback $3600, yeah quite the savings if you dont mind the drive
