especially that crap about "does anyone else do summoning rituals while feeding" like that points out so hard the fact that people who live-feed reptiles do it purely for the "badass" and "gothic" feeling it gives them in their own human lifestyle. They don't care about the animal and that it's domestic and trapped, not a wild animal with room to hunt, all they care about is "wow snake eat live animal, so badass and spoopy, I are witch arch, me cast spells! Watch me command carnivorous animal! Ooooh!" They're simultaneously using their snake as a toy and prop for a fad they're into, and insulting actual wiccans and witches by apropriating and joking about rituals and magic at the expense of a snake's well being. It's ALL a game, a movie, a novel to them, they see pets and entire cultures as a prop for their edginess.. they like to have people over to watch them feed their snake because it makes them feel all badass and cool "look at my pet monster". I adopted a rat who nearly killed the snake it was almost fed to, it's not worth it just because they watched Sabrina the Teenaged Witch a lot in middle school and can't get over their Goth phase. A snake is a living creature, not a prop or accessory and so many people who own snakes seem to have them for only that purpose.
A random gecko screamed at me once lol, I moved a board he was sleeping under on my back porch, and he stood up high on all four legs, did a funny S wiggle and screamed super loud, all with his eyes still closed, and then ran into the shadows.
I have had to pre-kill and/or stun rats and mice before feeding them to picky snakes and they shouldn't be moving like that one was. It's not something to be taken lightly, you need to be fast and efficient to minimize suffering. I like rats and don't enjoy killing them, but sometimes this is necessary.
@@barjee many snakes won't take frozen/thawed food, others won't take live food, still others refuse both options and won't eat unless the prey was recently alive but pre-killed. Gravid females will bowl hug and soak. Sometimes more adventurous snakes will take a quick dip in the water but they don't soak. Other than that, yeah usually mites or too hot.

When someone is hurting an animal it doesn't matter how innocent or oblivious they are, you can be as rude as you want, they were the one who fully understood they were taking in a living creature and didn't take the time to thoroughly research it. They deserve any flack they get. I have desert tortoises and I did years of research, literal years, and I still mess up or don't know something, I ask people on my tortoise groups and they correct me, and I apologize and assure them I'm going to fix the mistake. If they're rude about it, I understand, because they have a tort baby they've raised for the last 30 years and to see me, a noob, messing up with my 2 year old torts when they deserve the best life possible, is like a slap to the face and I need to do better, learn more and fix the problem. If I do wrong by my torts I want someone to shout at me right away and tell me. Anyone who owns a living animal and cares more about your tone than the fact that they were just told they're killing their baby, doesn't deserve a pet, respect, or any kind of comfort in the situation, they need to feel awful and get on the issue right away, riddled with guilt and kicking themselves for being that careless. I feel like when you need to call out someone harming an animal, whether intentional or not, they don't get the luxury of nice, sweet sugar coated conversation and I have no pity for them if they're at all concerned about how rude or negative the comments are when those comments are trying to save the pet you're failing.
I mean, lots of people have been led to believe you can trust the advice of a pet store employee or didn't know how you have to sort through bad advice to find good sources. Most of these people genuinely believe they're taking good care of their pet, and aren't intentionally neglecting it. So getting mean and calling them an animal abuser can make them defensive instead of open to advice. Even if the person deserves to be yelled at, I feel like they're going to be more receptive to criticism if you don't do that. I'd suck it up and be nice if it means there's a better chance I'll be able to help the animal
Hi! I super appreciate your videos, it really helps for a new snake owner like myself! My snake has a cluttered and great set up tank with two and a half hides, a water bowl, and a climbing tree, plus a temp/humidity gauge at both ends of my cage, a heat lamp that my snake can’t access and a heating pad. The humidity is high (I’m working on that) and I just saw a part where you said that aspen substrate isn’t good for ball pythons. What is a better suggestion for substrate for them? They also haven’t eaten in a couple months and the few snake people I’ve talked to said it should be fine as long as it doesn’t get too skinny, any suggestions on why they haven’t eaten? They just went through their first shed with me last night at some point so I’m hoping that’s why they weren’t wanting to eat.
Monty is a common name for python, even mine is named Monty, it's normally older people that name them that, it's a pun, it's they get named Monty after "Monty Python's flying circus" and or "Monty Python, search for the holy grail" lol Hope that explains why there's so many pythons named Monty 🤣
For the anxiety person that wants a job.... probably best to work for someone that they are comfortable with. Then that person can be the one who interacts with customers, vets and others.
Are these owners ignorant or cruel??? I hate mistreatment of snakes, makes me want to help all of these animals by buying them, taking them home and giving them good lives.
it depends on the person.. some are just ignorant, and if you tell them what they did wrong they should fix it. Some really are cruel, you can explain why it's wrong to do what they do to their animal, you can even tell them there are laws about this and you could be charged for allowing this animal in this much pain knowingly, and they will say "man f off, don't tell me what to do in my own house" or just ignore you, they hate their pet, it's nothing but an accessory to show off, and once you tell them they did something wrong they treat you like you're the jerk. Those people should be jailed and their animal taken away, but sadly most places don't have much enforcement ability for animal related crimes.

@@nightinggale6470 If you knew anything about Hershey and her breeder, you wouldn't be making this comment. She is arguably one of the most well-cared for snakes and she is 100% thriving. With the right owner, there is nothing wrong with scalelesshead spiders.
I don't understand the reptile collecting if you're just going to keep them in tiny plastic drawers. Wouldn't you rather have less pets and give the a better life?
That's why I've never taken up breeding as a job or anything cause for breeding those are needed anyone keeping them in those outside of that it's just wrong
Could someone help me answer this? How small a gap can a gecko escape through? I've tried to Google it but the answers weren't very helpful - basically makes them out to be mini escape artists. I'm still in the planning phase but I'm worrying about a gecko I don't own yet, escaping from a terrarium I've not built yet (I'm in the process of moving house) but I want to be as prepared as I possibly can be before I start. TIA
I am friends with the owner of 'Hershey', (the scaleless), and I can assure you that Hershey is in extremely good health, and also very well cared for, and quite loved. Although I will say the rest of the ones featured are actually pretty cringe.
The scaleless spider? I don't have good opinions on people who support breeding scaleless let alone spiders. If they bought it they supported the breeder.
For most snakes yea but ball pythons you'd have better luck eyeballing their overall length. Females are big, males are small, but it's still not a solid method of sexing. Popping/probing is better for bps
I understand ALL these people have made pretty big mistakes involving there animals but maybe instead of putting them on blast for views maybe you should reach out to them and inform them what they r doing wrong just a thought though! 🤷🏼♂️
This is literally SO stupid. You included Hershey, the scalelesshead, and it shows your ignorance. Hershey is not only an exceptional snake in terms of health, but she also has an amazing owner who cares for her so well and is one of the most educated and well-informed snake owners/breeders out there. She is FAR from "the worst ball python owner." Shame on you.
I'm coming here to say that you can make whatever content you want and it's probably good to expose this stuff to people who might potentially not know enough about reptile care, but personally.. I haven't been watching these videos on the channel because I can't stomach videos with reptile abuse and have no desire to watch animals suffer under someone's poor care. I'm going to continue not watching them either.
I had a ball python named Monty. The reason I did it was because of Monty python since my family loved the movies. Idk if that’s why everyone else does it though
If the BP heating pad was busted and she kept her house at a really cold temp, that may have killed the snake? I imagine anything under 75 for a long time would kill most reptiles, but I'm not sure.
It's sad you feel compelled to attack more established breeders just because you want to get ahead, as a young breeder. It must be intimidating to know people are so far ahead of you, but lies don't do anyone justice.
it's been a week but i'm back ehehehe >:)

i hope your okay man i was checking ur videos to see if ur comments have gone and youve honestly got it bad and your a good person
Hi you are my favorite UA-cam
I don't understand the reptile collecting if you're just going to keep them in tiny plastic drawers. Wouldn't you rather have less pets and give the a better life?
That's why I've never taken up breeding as a job or anything cause for breeding those are needed anyone keeping them in those outside of that it's just wrong
Poor things
Genious- You're in a bad mood, and so it's the perfect time to criticize people!
I wish you’d do more of these videos.
I have 2 snakesss
Help. My beardie won’t move much. His muscles are hard, he can’t climb I think it’s his bones😰😥😓 the vet said it’s $170 got a visit
$170 for an exam?
Do you feed him calcium?
@@GoHerping yes just for the visit and anything else is extra cost 😰
@@skylergraddy2784 yes the zoo something. I put calcium in his bath and drinking water but he only wants fruits(like one bite) 😞
@@lafiera0219 do you only put it in his water? And fruits are good just make sure it's a dragon friendly fruit
8:00 a way to sex snaked is by looking at the length of their tails, looks like a female I think but I’m trash at it so
For most snakes yea but ball pythons you'd have better luck eyeballing their overall length.

Hi alex
Sad news: learning to code does not protect you from the BS that is dealing with other people as effectively as you might think
32 minutes ago and 32 comments, welll not anymore
hi
Just learn to code
I don't understand why people are buying and breeding snakes with neurological problems that hurt their quality of life. Seems cruel
Lol
poor snakes
If the BP heating pad was busted and she kept her house at a really cold temp, that may have killed the snake? I imagine anything under 75 for a long time would kill most reptiles, but I'm not sure.
It's sad you feel compelled to attack more established breeders just because you want to get ahead, as a young breeder. It must be intimidating to know people are so far ahead of you, but lies don't do anyone justice.
2nd like!
when my ball python died, i set his corpse on fire 👍
