Great list. "Jaws" is not only my favorite movie of the 1970's, it's my favorite of all time.

Thank you! Jaws is a classic that just gets better with every viewing. I watched it again last night. My wife and I watch it every July 4th!

Glad to see you choose King Kong. I really like the extended TV cut included on that release

I haven't sat down and watched that TV cut yet. Not since it was on TV! It will always be one of my favorite movies ever...no matter how disappointing it was to some people. Thanks for watching!

Wow!! Excellent list man you have the SAME taste and memories like myself, I love the shout out to “Dynamite magazine” my brother and I use to get “Dynamite” and “Bananas” every month I remember Mom giving us a subscription for Christmas (because you were always infatuated getting mail as a kid) beautiful memories of Star Wars, Superman and especially King Kong. I haven’t seen a couple of your films “boggy Creek” and “over the edge” but I’ll look to find them. And “being there” is one as you get older you appreciate it more. Very good list and love the inclusion of “Hooper” and “Smoky and the bandit” I think you had to grow up when we did to appreciate Burt Reynolds movies and truly how HUGE of a star he was. Take care and talk soon

I'm glad someone else remembers Dynamite magazine. (I remember Bananas, but I didn't get that one.) Over the Edge probably aged better than Boggy Creek, I'd say. It tapped into that pre-teen/teenage angst I was feeling at the time. Boggy Creek just scared me as 5 year old. Now, it looks like a poorly made cheese fest. LOL

Interesting list! You're the first person who's mentioned Tommy, at least on the lists I've seen, and it's an excellent film. I didn't even think of that one, or Being There, another excellent film. The Legend of Boggy Creek is one I've managed to miss. I saw The Exorcist on its first release after having read the novel. To me, the novel was terrifying. The film was scary and had lots of atmosphere and tension, but I considered it to be more of an exploitational display rather than a serious telling of a dark story. All these years later, I'm not a fan at all. But hey, it's all subjective!

Thanks. I believe you mentioned Quadrophenia in your list, right? If not, I apologize. I doubt The Legend of Boggy Creek would have the same impact on me as an adult as it did when I was a kid. It's pretty hokey now...but it traumatized me as a 5 year old. I still can't believe it was rated G. Had I read The Exorcist, I might have felt the same way. Who knows? Thanks for sharing your comments!

this is a small nitpick. when I was looking at the time stamps or chapters and the movie Grease is shown as Greece (the country?). Also Hooper is shown as Sally Field.

Good list. Your parents not letting you see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a little strange to me. I saw that on TV like every year, after turning 6.
I do understand your parents not letting you see The Exorcist or Taxi Driver. I think I saw The Exorcist when I was about 16 and Taxi Driver in my 20s.

Yeah, I never really understood that either because they really never kept me from watching stuff on regular TV very often. Late night stuff, sure. But nothing that was on at 8 PM like Willy Wonka.

I really need to watch a few more 70s movies to make a proper list. *Spoiler Alert* Star Wars will most likely be my #1 as well. I enjoyed the list and will have some of those on my list as well.
