Awesome! I keep finding broken garden solar lights on the side of the road and grabbing them. First one I butchered the PCB. Figured I didn't need it. Well latest one I grabbed has a similar YX IC. 5252F, I removed the led since I only wanted it to charge my NiMH cells. So far its charged one AAA great! Just have some dupont cables coming off from it through my window to the pcb then to a 3d printed AA holder. I have some adapter for AAA's to the AA size.

Yes, the weak point is the battery. If you change it out for one size larger and if the device gets full sun during the day it'll run all night. I've seen one of my neighbors purchase solar lights and put them outside under trees. Then they call and ask "why are my lights only on for half an hour". 😮
