Congratulations to Wojciech Lemański for this meticulous arrangement. Transcribing these moving tonalities could not have been easy. But Wojciech Lemański rose to the challenge. Musicians are first-rate players, as well. I am full of wonder.

The arrangement for Ascent could move mountains! Praise to Lyle Mays for the composition, but the orchestral power at the end exceeds his original recording. Tears in my eyes and chills down my back. Deep appreciation for the artistry of all these young people.

It's a beautiful piece of music! Lyle Mays album that this has been taken from is my no.1 album of all time and I have a lot, the arrangement for the orchestra is so beautiful! Culminating in these incredible strings at the crucuendo of parts 3 is just mind-blowing. The lady on second fiddle is so beautiful as well ❤❤

  • @matt-spaiser

This is beautiful! What an incredible arrangement that captures the nuances of the original, showing us what Lyle may have imagined in his head while playing this on synths.

    • @michaelhenchman
      @michaelhenchman 3 роки тому +8

Indeed. The English horn is especially gorgeous. My hat is off to the player, and to the orchestra. I lived for many years in central Alaska and when this piece was first released I felt that Lyle had really captured the essence of the deep winter, particularly in Invocation. Lovely and soul-stirring.

    Wow, Wow, Wow!!!
Words cannot Express how good this is! I know Lyle is smiling on the other side, even shedding a tear of joy, appreciating that someone has realised the true potential of his masterpiece. The atmospheric effects of "Invocation" is as good as, if not better than Lyle's recorded version, but the orchestral power of "Ascent" takes the piece to a different level. As others have said, the music and performance are so perfect, so emotional, it's impossible to not have watery eyes by the end. I've watched this countless times and it continues to have this effect on me.
Heartfelt thanks to every performer .....

My dad was army and we moved to Denver when I was 3 so I don’t remember but hearing the intense then the lightness of the composition must be doing and summer According to my mother Alaska is beautiful in summer. Massive credit and gratitude to you, not least the Cor Anglais soloist who plays so very excellently, especially as it is so totally exposed for her and the Cor Anglais not a forgiving instrument at all. One thing I really love about this video, in addition to one of my favorite Lyle pieces, is that it was filmed in synch with the ACTUAL players playing the parts. Not just filmed parts thrown in to fill gaps.... this is all true players in real time, I love that watching a lot of orchestra work and performances. Just my favorite all around here

I think the ensemble of orchestral arrangements is wonderful and expresses Mr. LYLE MAYS world view.

I've heard the original and that this is the most moving. It is as though Lyle's soul is coming through the performance.
Blessed to you and thanks lyle. In God's grace forever.

I prefer this version to Lyle's. I didn't realize this composition was so good and I bought the original album in the 1980s. Beautiful arrangement, superbly played. Most orchestras employ older musicians. The young hot girls were an inspired choice.

I’ve listened to this often and it is almost beyond description. Another amazing thing is the ages of those young talents. As a retired middle school Art teacher, in the south where football is king, it does
my heart good to see these tweens and teens take such a beautiful piece of music seriously and concentrate their talent toward the beauty of music. Kudos to them and their music teachers .

Six months after first viewing, this new one even more moving (I'm not crying, you're crying ;-)).
This time a moment to compliment too, the stage lighting designer and camerawork. The black & white and color contrasts, and lens angles
add greatly to this video's visual power & effect.
Oh we miss Lyle Mays so ... but this remarkable orchestration AND performance by all celebrates the man's musical magnificence.
Bravo & thank you Primuz Chamber Orchestra - again.

The sea and its deepest evocations. The water is an element ever-present in Lyle's music since the beginning of his compositions. Adorable music!

Ja jestem w szoku, że tą przepiękną interpretację kompozycji Lyle Maysa zrobiono akurat w Polsce.
Podziwiam pracę dyrygenta i zespołu, aranżację i wykonanie.
