I bought the xpro-1 + 18mm f/2 back in 2012. It just was fine. I still don't understand any complaints about this lens. Currently I 5:37 use the xe-4 + kipon 35mm f/2.4 manual focus. Different set up. I also recommend the fuji 18mm f/2. It'a cool and fun to use. Excellent image quality and personality.
I recently bought this new for the second time, I wanted something small for travel on my xt5. I never really gelled with it several years ago, but now I’ve found it very charming and perfectly suited to everyday use. Not the sharpest in my bag but who cares. I’ve finally got the OG Fuji trio back in my kit.
I can understand that completely. I think as we mature in our work the gear doesn’t need to be as perfect as we thought and some imperfections can be great and even inspiring.
I recently picked up this lens brand new from an unsold old stock. I have used it a while back for a review..but after using the x100VI recently for a review coming up, I decided to downsize my xt5 set up for street and loving this lens as it has quite some character..I'm glad I gave this lens a second chance :)
I think we all are guilty of seeing something else we want or might fit a need and overlook some of these hidden gems! I picked up the 16mm 2.8 and like it even more lol
Originally I went for the XF 23mm f1.4 (original version) thinking that would be the ultimate, and it was optically impressive, but just wasn't all that fun to use on an X Pro3. I found it too big and bulbous, blocking the OVF and it had slow and noisy AF. I tried the 27mm pancake, which I still have and that is a good general purpose tiny lens, but after trying the 18mm I realised that was the best small prime for my purposes. Also the way it renders creates images that always satisfy, so for me its a keeper.
I have a good selection of fuji lenses, including all 3 of their latest lm wr lenses, but I always have the 'old but gold' 18mm f/2 glued to one of my x-e4s. Not the youngest and not the fastest; but a solid performer that's comfortable getting up close & personal...plus, it's soooo good looking! Kinda what my wife says about me 😉
Never understood why this lens had such a bad rap. I've been using Fuji for my aps-c system for 6 years. The first 4 I avoided the 18mm because so many people said it was Fuji's worst. To quote The Princess Bride - "MORONS!" Found a copy at an unbeatable price and figured I would give it a shot. Now it is always attached to one of my cameras. I keep it on my x-m1 most of the time as it makes a perfect little combo.

I need to try some third party lenses myself. People will always complain lol

Nice. Thinking about throwing this one on my old XT3 for a tight mtn. biking rig.
Go for it!
Hi Jeremy

I use it on an XE2. Autofocus is slow but that is the fault of the XE2. For subjects that are static its fine and the size is great!
Agreed and the weight of a nice balance too IMO
I use the 35 f1.4 on my x-e1 and I’ve just ordered this 18mm - character wins every time
I couldn’t agree more! The 35 is awesome

I couldnt agree more. I had the 16 1.4 once as well and it was great but also too large. The 18 sits in the sweet spot between size and quality.
just dropping xf 16 2.8 as an alternative..heard so much things about that one..almost small as 18 with much better iq and focus speed..
Ive never tried it but was afraid it would be a little too wide for me.

Hahah well I'm sure she's right Lol. It has been my favorite fuji lens yet
Condivido quello che hai detto. Adoro questo 18mm f2 mi segue tutti i giorni.
It's wonderful!
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for being here
Many people claim this is a bad lens, and yet resale value remains high.
The xpro3? It's a wonderful camera. I've owned 2 ;)

Great movie lol. I felt the same way. I have owned lots of Fuji cameras but never this lens. I was missing out!!
A wise video, this lens is great. For street it brings home the bacon every time.
