    For threads I typically draw rectangles and toss a hatch in them. I agree the small things make a difference :)

  • @crankycoachman
    @crankycoachman 7 років тому +1

    Very nice. I have saved rectangle properties that I use for the threads. Set the border line color to invisible and use ANSI32 fill, rotated/scaled.
    I really appreciate the toolbar tip, as I use the swap handles macro frequently.

    • @CSWilsonDraws

      Thanks! That's a great tip for the threads!

    Hi CSWD, great Video. And Greetings from the Tekla Structures Discussion Forum. At 12:45 i would speed up the thread showing process by using a hatch and edit its angle so it fits your needs.

      Hello, AjoBob! Nice to see someone from the forum! That's a good idea with the treads! It sounds like it'd be more efficient.
      Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi CS Wilson, I was wondering if it is possible to make the nut and washer appear on the Bolt List, since they are modelled as parts and not bolts.
    Or how do you handle this? If your customer would like to order all the Bolts and Nuts needed for the Project, those Nuts and washers would not appear on the Boltlist, but on the Profile-list. (I really appreciate your videos, greeting's from Swirterland)

    Great vid.
    never knew about the "attach a part" command thanks

      Thanks! You do a pretty good job with videos yourself!
      I've been using the "Attach a Part" command for a while now. I have a Primary license with Tekla Structures, so I have to economize my entity count as much as possible on larger projects.

    Hello Wilson. I exploded a base plate component to be able to model a base plate with a 45 degree cut but when I create the Anchor Rod drawing none of the cut plates with the anchors is shown on the drawing. What should I do?

    Hello. Is this method possible only in Tekla 2017? Because in version 2021 (the version I have), there is no option for modeling washers and nuts !!! Please guide me. Thanks

    Good Job CS. Can you put any light on the fact that tekla don’t have all profiles of all the steel shapes in the world? Why should I have to import profiles? Autodesk Advance steel has them

    • @teamnoble9715
      @teamnoble9715 4 роки тому

      Tekla pulls the profiles from your environment file. CS is in the US and therefore runs a US environment. I'm in the UK and my environment file has all UK profiles. You can still add profiles via various methods too

    I want to know more about the anchor bolt, why one of side the nut to be welded?

    • @CSWilsonDraws
      @CSWilsonDraws  4 роки тому

      The weld prevents the bolt from turning in the nut and the nut prevents the bolt from turning in the concrete.

    Hi CS Wilson. First of all I'd like to thank you for this great video. I would like to know how did put a macro (in this case the swap handles) inside the contextual toolbar. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Best regards.

      Thank you! I appreciate the comment!
      To add a macro or UDA to the contextual toolbar, see the following from the TUA:
      teklastructures.support.tekla.com/2017/en/gen_contextual_toolbar
      It’s under “Customize Contextual Toolbar”.

    • @FernandodeCesaro
      @FernandodeCesaro 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for replying.
      At the TUA:
      "To add macros and user-defined attributes:
      "Select the desired macro or user-defined attribute from the list.
      Click Add."
      I don't get it what list is it? It's seems to be easy, but I'm not finding the "List" even the Add button.

      Solved; I'm using Tekla Structures 2016i. This option is only available for Tekla Structures 2017
      Thanks.

    • @FrenchmanontheRooftop
      @FrenchmanontheRooftop 7 років тому +2

      Fernando Not sure if you can add it to the contextual toolbar in 2016i but you can add it to your ribbons or make a keyboard shortcut for it if that would help. I usually have it as a shortcut myself.
      Settings > Customize > Ribbon
      Type "swap" into the search bar and then drag the macro onto the desired location on your ribbon.
      or
      Settings > Customize > Keyboard shortcuts
      Type "swap" into the filter bar select the macro. click on Enter shortcut. press something thats easy to remember. I use "ctrl shift s" for mine. then click Assign.

    Hello Sir, appreciate for video, but I faced another problem by doing bolts your way. The thing is, in my drawings, I usually put table of details: where all profiles are displayed. It contains lengths, masses and sections of all details. This table shouldn't contain bolts, but since I created a blot as a beam, it appears in my table. Could you suggest me what to do, in order to remove bolts from the table? P.S. table generated automatically.

    • @teamnoble9715
      @teamnoble9715 4 роки тому

      In your table template create a formula to not pick up the parts you don't want
