    He is a really super teacher, made a big difference to the first pupil's sound and interpretation in 5 minutes, in a very nice way.

    The theme of the first movement of the Carmen-Fantasie is never sung by Carmen. It's the Entr'acte before the last act, sometimes called Aragonaise.

    It is incredible how concious Christian is about body tension (ua-cam.com/video/Lj57u53ELVE/v-deo.html). Also incredible how concious I am about details in this video.

      Probably because he's miced

    • @samuelrotberg
      @samuelrotberg 5 років тому +1

      Yes, it's the microphone picking up every little string noise. The performers have no mic so we are hearing it from afar.

    Why is that man skulking in the background of the Carmen Fantasy?! - get a chair and stop being a distraction for goodness sake!

    at 19:05, Tetzlaff did not get the problem. The young boy has a poor right arm. You hear the whole piece that the boy has problems with the right sound on the lower strings. The reason is that his bow is too close to the fingerboard. He must learn how to play closer to the bridge. Less bow and more pressure at the bridge. It is not easy. Then he will have a sharper and stronger sound on the G string.

      i dont really agree. he got actually the problem. he said slower bow speed and showed to have more arm weight which usually results in a lower elbow and if you want to get a sound at the bridge your bow needs to be slower ;) and if you play slower near the fingerboard your sound would crack. the goal from him was to teach him a big sound with armweight and slower bowspeed and as a side effect you dont press with the thumb so much. So Im sorry to say Mister, but i think the one who didnt get it was you ;) haha greetings!

      The teacher is completely right. This is not about pressure. A lower right arm for that particular note and a flatter bow on the string, slower bow speed and a different division of the bow. Daniel has a very good sound and a well set up bowing arm in general, although quite high.
