You know you are right but i have to say that this the first slipknot album with a more commercial sound and for die hard fans this was like the selling out album
@@Arvin_Shishegari as a die hard Slipknot fan - I disagree. It was different. Yeah, probably more accessible sound, but still - very angry, very dark, very groovy. 'All hope is gone' on the other hand, yeah, total sell out.
That’s my favorite Slipknot album; the tones and textures, as well as a progression into more intricate songwriting. They weren’t afraid to use acoustic guitars and electric keyboards. Absolutely fantastic.
As another “farts dust, old guy, loves guitar😂”, I think it’s all just expression. If you’re still carrying angst, it’s just another color of sound, another attitude, a different color crayon. I grew up with 70’s Rock, but dig lots of “heavy” music. See ya in the pit!
So the last Beato video, he's talking about how he's a Jazz guy and Emin Sus 9 cords. ...and here we have b2 deathmeatal slide to the tonic, and a clown slamming a beer keg with a metal baseball bat😂. God bless this man!
Man do I recall that recording session. September 5th 1992 and the next four days messed me up. We do multiple bands, it’s just fun to do. Creed was the band we recorded right before Slipknot. I was fifteen years old.
It is constantly mknd-boggling to me that we access to the talent, mindset and knowledge of Rick Beato. There is no school that has ever schooled as much as a great producer can school.
Ricks awesome. Joey was a beast (considering his size too on drums. He took thrash metal drumming to new levels where i first saw them on Ozzfest 1999 in Vancouver BC. 🇨🇦😝🤘🏻
i was just listening to this song last night around 11pm, and i almost could not get to sleep; ya know, those moments that just gets your blood pumping you go on a binge for about 3 to 4 hours with your music because you tell yourself, fuck it, youre alive so keep rockin, plenty of time to sleep when you're dead, right? ---until you remind yourself yer pushin 62 and you've still got to get up to work early! LOL.
Great job Rick! Tuned your LP all the way down to drop B I see 😉👌 I love this song and the playing on this entire album by the whole band is stellar. This is a more refined sounding Slipknot post the mighty Iowa album ❤
Clown actually does the extra percussion on the albums. That's how the snare in this track ends up sounding like the Water snare from St Anger, but so much more aggressive and full
*....GEEE's RICK....* You just ain't got hands enough on yur body to put it all together...😂!!! HOWEVER, I love the break down on this, and finally solving a little gem of a disagreement with a friend of mine, where I am claiming the two different *(L/R)* gtr. differences, and he is convinced that it is the same gtr. sound, and I am hearing deficient....😨.... 😂....!!!
No joke, during one of their shows in West Palm Beach the clown's bat bounced off the keg and he hit himself in the head so hard he was knocked unconscious.
I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person in the world who picks with his right hand and rests the guitar on his left leg. If I keep my guitar on the right, I feel like I'm reaching behind me to play it.
“Then we have the clown which hits the beer keg with an aluminum bat”

I think it was Abraham Lincoln, actually.
-Michael Scott
LMAO Sun Tzu

Rick is a producer's producer. He cares about good music regardless of the genre. Jazz, Progressive or Slipknot 🤘🤘🤘

@@Arvin_Shishegari ok, you might be right, I'm just mixed up 'selling out' and 'album I don't like'
@@stupid_sleazoid2 neither Vol 3 or AHIG are sellout albums lol
Rick playing the hell out that riff ngl
He seemed to really be having fun with it too
Never thought i'd see Rick playing Slipknot
RIP Joey Jordison and Paul Gray... Sorely missed
And Paul Gray
@@gzo313 Absolutely right 🕯️
Who?
That's what I love about Rick, you can tell dude really loves music and loves great music!
Yeah, man appreciates a good groove, and Slipknot has plenty of those.
That’s my favorite Slipknot album; the tones and textures, as well as a progression into more intricate songwriting. They weren’t afraid to use acoustic guitars and electric keyboards. Absolutely fantastic.
An ELECTRIC keyboard??? 😮 What will they think of next?!?!
@@isaiahmarquez9717 Maybe they'll do something crazy, like using a stringed guitar.
Rick! Please have Mick and James on for a full interview!!! They are beasts!!
Great to see another mature guy into metal. I was beginning to think I'm alone.
Just remember where it all started.

Dude I’m 53. Been listening since 1985.
I like Rick Beato'
"Air Drumming Face",
holding his breath in anticipation of suspense. 😎✌️🥁😅

Timeless track right there
Great to see a different genre here!
One could argue that hitting a beer keg with an aluminium bat is THE sound of metal over the usage of the flat 2.
vol 3 might be one of the few top 10 albums IMO. I still cant believe it used to be on pop stations and late night shows. bonkers
Thank you for breaking this song down!! I’ve always wondered how Mick and James got the harmonic pinch to sound like that. Genius!
I love that a respectable musician and music reviewer is playing Slipknot.
Duality is a great song and one of my favourites.
Song changed my life
"the clown who hits the beer keg" is all that guy is lmao
Love that double-picking... And the double bass.
Man do I recall that recording session. September 5th 1992 and the next four days messed me up. We do multiple bands, it’s just fun to do. Creed was the band we recorded right before Slipknot. I was fifteen years old.
Love the groove in this song!
Dude Rick just jammed Slipknot!!!!
Rick is on fire now 🔥.
It's wild seeing Rick cover some metal
Wait! He didn't isolate the Clown?! 😂
Underrated comment lmao

I hope this portends a "What Makes This Song Great"
Episode 68 from 4 years ago. ;)
I think what I'd Really love to see is you remaking it as a jazz piece.
I love the variety of music that you analyze. No discrimination whatsoever 🤘
Never thought I’d see this .. 👍
More metal please!
One of the best fucking songs ever produced 😂
Damn Joey was such a F'N BEAST on drums!
Pinch harmonics are the sound of metal🤘
That flat 2 is my favorite thing in the whole world! Wayne Static uses it a lot.
Pick any part. Slipknot is a fun band to cover. Great vid rick!

Noice, Slipknot

Yes please do more metal! Love this channel; I’m always getting something out of it.
Good sh!t that Rick isn't a single genre nut. More of everything please. Pop, rock, classical, blues, metal. A good palate needs variety.

Pinch harmonics isolated sound like Metalocalypse
love this
Rick, you’re the man those guitar players come to you
Cool you explain the parts with bass too!
Rick playing slipknot?!?! Never thought I’d live to see the day 😂 awesome stuff man
Didn’t realise Josh Freese is the music worlds’ Matthew McConaughey. Great interview!

Beautiful 🤘🏽🥁👹🤘🏽
That’s so cool

Super cool Les Paul
This is amazing
For y'all asking him to do a WMTSG on Slipknot, he has. This song, Duality, was done 4 years ago. He did Before I Forget 2 years ago.
More What Makes This Song Great please Rick!!! Best series on youtube!!

The way Rick gets into what makes these songs great is the most valuable music analysis on UA-cam period.
I never get tired of this song
No joke, during one of their shows in West Palm Beach the clown's bat bounced off the keg and he hit himself in the head so hard he was knocked unconscious.
Good, fitting for a dope
The real question here is, was the keg properly miked…
Saw a Daily Mash headline the other day claiming that Slipknot was now "technically Dad rock".... Guess they were right!
Fook yeah 🎶
Nice!
I had one earphone on and only hear the left sound and not the right I was so lost
Still there best song!
HOW is no one talking about mick in that pink angel costume??????😂😂😂
More metal Rick 👉🌎🦅
Do more metal bro yess!!!! 🤘
all these years i never understood that left and right channels have different overtones
they're different tracks entirely. Mick is on one guitar and James on the other
I wasn’t a big SlipKnot fan, although I liked their Disasterpieces DVD. I was a bigger fan of the first Stone Sour album.
I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person in the world who picks with his right hand and rests the guitar on his left leg. If I keep my guitar on the right, I feel like I'm reaching behind me to play it.

Yeah!!!!
Can we just appreciate how good that bass sounds
That’s my favorite of your Lesters.
Fun times you're having there.
Rick, what tuning and string gauge are you using for this song?
i love gold inlays. is rick sponsored by gibson?
Great track. It's sad to say that Slipknot died alongside Paul Gray. Now it's just a brand.
😊
MICK THOMSON! 👑💥🔥🤘
Do Opeth!
Nice Rick
😆🤘
What tunning is that?
No way rick beato djenting is the last thing id see
I love you❤
Is one of those pinch harmonics a 5th up from the b7?
My takeaway: Clown uses an aluminum bat, idk why I always thought it was a wooden one, a metal bat makes more sense lol
More of these on the channel please, full length ones
