Excellent video! Installing it from scratch on the Odroid doesn't look too hard. Based on this video I am not sure it is worth waiting for the Blue version, if you are still trying to find it, just to get HA preinstalled unless you just dont want to deal with the handful of steps. Thats for the adding this perspective!
After purchasing my ODROID N2+, for some unknown reason I couldn't get it to update to Home Assistant OS 7.0. Thanks to your demo I was able to manually get it done myself. Despite the instructions on the Home Assistant website I was still unsure about how to proceed. Thank you so much for this video. It saved my sanity 😂
I bought the ODROID-N2+ and emmc 64gb. To flash HA, do I need the emmc adapter to flash HA on it or will be able to flash HA from ODROID-N2+ with the emmc 64gb installed?
I tried the steps you provided I flashed the Image successfully and switch the dip switch to the right and connected the odroid to my network through ethernet cable, but nothing is showing on my network... Is there anything im missing?
Just got a 64gb emmc that was already preloaded with android, but following your steps correctly gives me back this: "bin/sh: ums: not found" after entering the ums command. Any idea what could be wrong?
@@SmartHomeMakers i'm getting a list as your one basically.. I may have found the issue, I think my N2 has an older version of PetiBoot that doesn't support UMS, reading thru it and how to upgrade it right now
Can I ask why you moved the switch to the SPI mode despite using MMC? I would've guessed you want that switch on "MMC" since you're using eMMC? Reading online it sounds like it's a moot point unless you're also attaching an SD card however - but just curious if I'm missing something.
Hi Eddie! I have/had an SD card in it before using the eMMC, potentially might be a mute point, but I documented step by step what I did:) which by no means is perfect!
Thanks for the great video! I have a question that possibly you can help me with. I was able to get an Odroid N2+ but it came without an eMMC card. The source I found (Ameridroid) has cards that are listed with colored dots and I'm not sure which one to purchase. It appears to me that the color scheme relates to the installed operating system (android or linux)?? Am I correct? So, in the case of installing the Home Assistant OS it really doesn't make any difference which eMMC care I get??? Also, the largest capacity they have is 64gb as 128gb isn't available. I'm thinking 64gb will probably be fine, since it's already twice the capacity of my current Raspberry Pi 3B+ setup with Home Assistant. So, thanks in advance if you can answer my questions, and I'll looking for more of your videos!
Hi Brittany! same happened for me: didn't realise that there wasn't an eMMC card. I purchased it with another order, I believe I got it with the android OS. Indeed it doesn't matter which OS as you are going to flash the device. 64gb sounds good, the price difference between 64 and 128 made me go for the bigger version. Thanks again for your comment
@@SmartHomeMakers My eMMC card came yesterday, and I'm going to attempt this project tomorrow. I found some printed documentation on the Home Assistant website which follow your path, however near the end of the page it speaks about enabling I2C, which you don't cover in your tutorial. It's a little confusing because it's talking about enabling I2C on a Raspberry Pi?? So, is it necessary on the N2+?? It's not something that I'm familiar with so, I thought I'd ask you why you didn't cover it. Thanks in advance!! ~Frank www.home-assistant.io/common-tasks/os#flashing-an-odroid-n2
@@SmartHomeMakers Thanks! I was able to confirm that the I2C information didn't apply to to the Odroid through the Home Assistant Discord channel. Hello, Thank you for this video! I'm trying to enable the odroid as a usb device, I've followed all steps ( including the micro-usb / Usb cable connected during the process) but I never cannot see the drive in my windows pc to can flash the emmc. It's solved, I leave here my situation so maybe can help someone with the same problem. The micro-usb / usb cable was just a charging cable, so please pay attention and use a data cable to do this process ☺️
@@rssgonzalez hi, just wanted to say thank you! I've spent half a day trying to figure out what I couldn't connect and changing a cable did resolve the issue.
Indeed excellent tutorial. Put the created backup from the RPI just before the sd exploded........follow this tutorial and with 30 minutes everything runs on the Ondroid n2+. just an other question have you made some kind of tutorial with a nice integration with volumio?
Hi, great video, did you do an update on how the odroid performed? I couldn't find it on your channel. Since I am new to home automation it would be nice also to know if there is any other hardware required to integrate with devices. Thanks!
How are you running Home Assistant? Rasperry PI, Blue, VM or DIY Odroid ?
I was lucky to buy a Home Assistant blue...
Couldn't find one with a decent price in the UK!
Raspberry Pi 4

Looking forward to it!

Only think I’m not a fan of is the case at this stage :) you can also pick and choose your eMMC chip :)
I needed this last week 😎. Just did this on my own 😩

Where did you get you blue from? They are sold out :/

is possible to use an attached SSD to Odroid usb port instead of eMMC 128gb card ?
