I knew the 500 was going to take the win, but was surprised it beat the cart too. In my mind, I would take the 500 even if it lost. Definitely my favorite egg-beater.

The helicopter wins because the car has to waste its energy to slow down for the turn, whereas the helicopter slows down for the turn by gaining altitude, which it then converts back into speed for the return leg.
I honestly did not realize that a helicopter like that...or any helicopter...is capable of such hard forward acceleration to beat a car that does 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Impressive.
Turbine power vs. piston power? Come on guys, never put money on the piston powered motor vs. a turbine! Only exception I can think of is the R44 vs. the old Bell JetRanger... the R44 can go faster than the JetRanger; go figure. Must be fuselage aerodynamics.

Particularly when it's loaded down with a bunch of equipment and stuff hanging off the side creating drag. But then the helicopter doesn't have to slow for curves & corners so we make it up there...Oh yeah!
Great video. I worked on the 500D for my first apprentice AME job at Viking Helicopters. Every helo pilot would always choose the 500 as their personal 'if I won the lottery' helo type. Anyone know what song that is as the soundtrack?
basically helicopter was run by women, see few frames in middle, in one she sit in flying helmet , in next frame another man sit without helmet and goes out to get his bet. don't know why to swap them. bravo for a women pilot.
